No matter how many times I watch this, I'm utterly gobsmacked and in awe at how incredibly beautiful his voice is. A flawless performance that's even better than the album version.
Much better.... It's devastating for me to listen it but I can't resist and keep playin' it over and over again.... May sound weird but that's the way it is.
Thom Yorke is so achingly perfect. This song, his beautiful voice, HE himself evokes a myriad of emotions. Oh, to meet you, my genius! This acoustic version is absolute perfection.
I was 17 when The Bends came out, and 19 when OK Computer was released. I remember thinking “I really like this.”. Little did I know, those two albums would hold up for the next 25 years. They are both so, so good
it’s a song that i strangely love and hate simultaneously. I hate that it reminds me that death is the end all existence and consciousness. It’s a subject I hate to think about but at the same time feel it should be thought about.
Can you imagine the generosity it takes Thom to pour out his soul before us all? Wonder what it is that makes some people able to do that? I stand in awe of this man's every performance...
Pffff been listening this song for a couple of years but this version is simply breathtaking. Not a song in the world that moves me as much as this one
I met Thom briefly a number of years ago at Liberty in London. Now, I never ask anyone for their autograph, but I did with him. I didn't have any paper so I asked him to wait whilst I ran to a man at the till, he gave me a receipt to write on. Bless him he waited and signed it for me. X
Rows of houses, all bearing down on me I can feel their blue hands touching me All these things into position All these things we'll one day swallow whole And fade out again and fade out This machine will, will not communicate These thoughts and the strain I am under Be a world child, form a circle Before we all go under And fade out again and fade out again Cracked eggs, dead birds Scream as they fight for life I can feel death, can see its beady eyes All these things into position All these things we'll one day swallow whole And fade out again and fade out again Immerse your soul in love IMMERSE YOUR SOUL IN LOVE
I know a song is beautiful and speaks to my soul when I cry and this song does just that. I think Thom Yorke is a musical angel sent down for us all to enjoy!
Souls like Thom, come into this world to give us a glimpse of the divine... to remind us what beauty is. I can't help but wonder how many lifetimes it took to accumulate the talent and depth of soul we see in this man. Astounding.
This song is full of depression and emotions. Really sad. But at the same time, it's really beautiful. I get goosebumps. His voice is absolutely fantastic in every way! And the melody and guitar playing is beauiful too. :)
"Music washes from the soul the dust of everyday life." Don't know who said it, but it's never been more true than for this song... This is the most beautiful version I've ever heard.
No words... I dont know how, its just make me sad, makes me nostalgic, I love this song.. and his final message.. Inmerse your soul in love, no words to describe my admiration to Radiohead, it just makes my imagination flies at full speed, thanks for this pure art.
One of the most flawless performances I have ever seen. Thom Yorke means what he is singing about. Please do NOT blow us all up. Immerse your soul in love.
chemical dreaming took me about a week to get the picking pattern down and two more to be able to sing with it, he's a little high for my voice but I can pull it off. It just looks harder than what it really is.
it's not that difficult... it's one of them songs which you can pick and play at the same time.. the picking patters are same ! anyways, i'm not undermining the guitar playing of thom.. he does shit that even pro guitarists can't do.. he doesn't once look at the frets while playing some of the most difficult chords and moves them fingers flawlessly !
Another amazing thing is that in his singing,he goes from low to high in a shortcut (idk how that's called, instant falsetto maybe?) and it sounds incredible.
I agree. street spirit is way down my list when it comes to favourite radiohead songs. but I can't help but come back again and again to hear this live version. his voice makes my jaw drop every time. stunning.
I played and listen to music all my life. I'm 29. After seeing this and Fake Plastic Trees from the same show I realize that never but never ever in my life I will see and hear anything like this music. This is magic my friends, I swear it. I thank God for hearing. This is the roof guys. Music in his best, not even dreamed. What to say. No more words. Can't describe it. We will never hear anything better in music history. Realize it. Oh my god. Thank you Musik !
oh my god.. what is this... this made me stop thinking of anything in the world, it almost made me fade. so brilliant, my hand hairs was standing the whole time
This song is about the passage of time, and the realization that everything is effected by death. If you listen to the rhythm, it sounds like a ticking clock. Also the steady rhythm could represent a heartbeat, and symbolize how much time a person has left. The whole song seems hopeless at first, like death always happens and there is nothing we can do to change it, but it has the best redeeming quality at the end when Thom says “Immerse your soul in love”. Basically he’s saying that life is too short to live in hate, and that we need to make the most of each moment by loving each other.
If ever an asteroid heads towards earth resigning humans to nothing, this song should be played on all media outlets.... This creation was born through pain and a unhinged helplessness...... Work of a genius
This song is truly about living but to no end, it's just a dark hole with no light at the end and that scares the shit out of me...but it's beautiful in its own way.
The onw thing that really makes me enjoy a live performance by radiohead is how raw thoms voice is. Even when he makes the most minor mistake, the way he rolls with it. Extraordinary. ❤
I am scared of this song. really. you can get drowned in it, get desperate and hopeless and become just a shadow of yourself, who just does things, drives his car, goes to work, eat, see friends and all the other stuff, but feels nothing. empty and dark inside. that's why I always think twice before listening to it. but it's probably the most beautiful song I've ever heard, so it's hard to resist. and sometimes I doubt the whole idea of resistance. you know. because we all fade out sometime anyway. "street spirit" kind of thought.
I had an experience in a river were it felt like I was going to drown, be swept away, downstream, down into a dam and be killed, but luckily I was in no real dange. But Thor song feels like a musical interpretation of the hopeless feeling I felt when I could no longer hold onto the rock I was clinging to, and let the river take me to what I thought to be my death. The feeling of fighting something you can’t win against, and letting it take you.
Nope. This is the best one. From me to you. Enjoy: ua-cam.com/users/redirect?stzid=Ugz1HW1JALkcMNZqhdd4AaABAg.923q5WgJeWm925xFt3RnrK&q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailymotion.com%2Fvideo%2Fx7domny&event=comments&redir_token=4RHOW8c7jcFD9iOSoajCJQs3vdB8MTU3NjM2NzQ3OEAxNTc2MjgxMDc4
The reason why people like this song despite its profoundly disturbing (disturbed?) lyrics is because the melody, pun intended, strikes a chord. It has mystique. It's haunting. And like depression, it's there to bother you so you always hear it, remember it, until you find yourself liking it. Disturbingly beautiful...
i listen to it at least once per day... I feel like i Have to, like it's making my day better...and to be honest it does, it makes it more...colorfull...
Actually, this is the best one. A Christmas present from me to you. Enjoy. ua-cam.com/users/redirect?stzid=Ugz1HW1JALkcMNZqhdd4AaABAg.923q5WgJeWm925xFt3RnrK&q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailymotion.com%2Fvideo%2Fx7domny&event=comments&redir_token=4RHOW8c7jcFD9iOSoajCJQs3vdB8MTU3NjM2NzQ3OEAxNTc2MjgxMDc4
Thom Yorke is an incarnated angel. A starseed/wise one. So divine. So beautiful. This is the cry of angels on earth.
Ondyena Oshyn
Agreed!
Beautifully said ...Ondyena Oshyn
What a beautiful comment ! I agree . You’ve made his voice sound even more emotive now . 😁
The angel: o_O
Your words about Thom Yorke are beautiful. His voice brings me to tears. Especially this song. It's exquisite.
Thom's early era singing is just completely amazing
We, as the human race, have never been fully deserving of Thom's voice.
What a beautiful comment.
Thom Yorke is by far one of the best vocalists of our time.
I agree
How you doing? 15 years is crazy
The best!
No matter how many times I watch this, I'm utterly gobsmacked and in awe at how incredibly beautiful his voice is. A flawless performance that's even better than the album version.

This is the only song that always gives me goosebums. For me,this is the best song ever made.
Thom's voice is so beautiful. I love the simple but compelling accompaniment Johnny and Thom provide.

Thom Yorke is so achingly perfect. This song, his beautiful voice, HE himself evokes a myriad of emotions. Oh, to meet you, my genius! This acoustic version is absolute perfection.
I think it.

Absolutely amazing performance. This is the most hauntingly beautiful song in existence.
couldn't agree more
Totally agree!Very well spoken!
Love all versions ❤️❤️
it’s a song that i strangely love and hate simultaneously. I hate that it reminds me that death is the end all existence and consciousness. It’s a subject I hate to think about but at the same time feel it should be thought about.
The "Immerse your soul..." line in this version hits you so hard, if you don't feel something at that point in the song, you can not be human.
Can you imagine the generosity it takes Thom to pour out his soul before us all? Wonder what it is that makes some people able to do that? I stand in awe of this man's every performance...
Look at the pain in his eyes... such a raw performance.
Pffff been listening this song for a couple of years but this version is simply breathtaking. Not a song in the world that moves me as much as this one
Those notes and how long he holds them for, such talent. Gives me goosebumps.
immerse your soul in love
+davefan16 ur pic makes this better
He nailed it. Captured the essence of the song, a dark hopeless place where noone escapes. Haunting and absolute, better than the original version.
In the end he sings "immerse your soul in love" which is the way to escape. To me it does have a rather positive ending considering that line.
Brilliant performance
Such volumes in this song
Thom is out of this world
We are blessed to have him
FLAWLESS GENIUS TOUCHING SOUND OF THOM YORKE
I met Thom briefly a number of years ago at Liberty in London. Now, I never ask anyone for their autograph, but I did with him.

Before we all go under
And fade out again and fade out again
Cracked eggs, dead birds
Scream as they fight for life

"Immerse your soul in love."
This song is why I love music.
Absolutely stunning,Thoms voice gives me the shivers.
I always come back to this one.
I know a song is beautiful and speaks to my soul when I cry and this song does just that. I think Thom Yorke is a musical angel sent down for us all to enjoy!
That twelve-string adds so much to this song! The vocals are wonderful, too.
Souls like Thom, come into this world to give us a glimpse of the divine... to remind us what beauty is.

This song is full of depression and emotions. Really sad. But at the same time, it's really beautiful. I get goosebumps. His voice is absolutely fantastic in every way! And the melody and guitar playing is beauiful too. :)
I think this is my favorite version. Its pitched slightly higher than the studio version, and Thom's voice sounds excellent.
mine too!
i dont think i've EVER heard anything quite as quintessentially amazing as this...
I really think that era is the one where thom had the best voice ever
"Music washes from the soul the dust of everyday life."
Don't know who said it, but it's never been more true than for this song... This is the most beautiful version I've ever heard.
Takes my breath away everytime.
one of the greatest live performances I have seen.
no-one does solo performances like Thom
but Jonny is literally right there
Amo la voz de este hombre en vdd pocos interpretan como el....

Such a beautiful perfect song.
Best live version of this song ever. Hands down.

Stunning and beautifull.
