- "My Iron Lung" was Radiohead's reaction to "Creep", their massive hit of 1993 which also became something of a millstone for Radiohead singer Thom Yorke. The song's caustic, self-reflexive lyrics used the iron lung as a metaphor for the way "Creep" had both sustained the band's life and constrained them...

This is the best vocal Thom's ever done for this song. Just beautiful :)
Radiohead's songs are even better when they're acoustic/live
it's such a shame that the sound quality isn't so great... his voice is so beautiful I was almost brought to tears
I actually like this version more than the one on The Bends
Late to the party but in response to say no chance. The dynamics in the studio version (which I believe instrumentally may be the recording of the song from the Astoria gig) are unbelievable. When I heard the CD in 96 and My Iron Lung came on I was floored. Beautiful pitched up guitar and vocals and then boom the aggression roars through.
Rob Maddison yes, the instrumentation from the studio is the same as the Astoria 1994 performance.
Radiohead sound better live than they do in the studio, really great performers
This performance is perfect, Thom's voice, the guitars... Everything in its right place

Yes, thanks! Your fingering makes more sense. I think it's correct except for the D string. I would mute any D note from a C minor chord. 'x' instead of '0'.

Radiohead is the only true band. Everything else is just noise in comparison.
Pink Floyd, a band with one of best guitarists ever, and a band that manages to make a 23 minute song pure bliss. As much as I like Radiohead, Pink Floyd has so much more soul, and will always take the cake.
