2nd-Highest Property Taxes in U.S. Equal 'Second Mortgage' in Illinois

  • The biggest cause of Illinois' massive tax burden is the state's growing pension debt. Unfunded obligations to government retirees have driven property taxes across the state to the 2nd-highest in the nation, while Chicagoans shoulder sales taxes higher than nearly anywhere else in the U.S.
Illinois Policy Institute Vice President of Marketing, Austin Berg joined Bret Baier on ‪@FoxNews‬ to discuss the problem, how to solve it-and how not to.

Dentist profession is much more competitive today than it was 15-20 years ago. Many dentists are sharing offices/employees to reduce overhead. My previous dentist (in Florida). Was charging way less than his competitors and had way more patients. He had about 6 dentists in his office and maybe 12 hygienists, 3-4 administrators. Also franchise dentists are taking lots of business, they can often get better deals on equipment by buying stuff in larger quantities. I can cut back on food, gas, and subscriptions, prescriptions... but I cannot "cut back' my property taxes. It's something that if you don't pay it, you can lose your home!! Politicians are quick to spend every penny and look for more money, instead of looking for ways to cut back. When you add up all the taxes that you pay, FEd, FIca, Sales, excise, gas, fees for everything from a hunting license, fishing license to getting a 'permit' to do some work on your house, plus the property taxes, taxes via your utility bills, and insurance REQUIREMENTS. You pay probably more in taxes than they do in Europe. People are lied to about the taxes we pay. That amount you get on your Tax form for exemption? Add up your gross income.. deduct the taxes you pay to the IRS, fica, etc.. THEN deduct the sales taxes, property taxes, fees, licenses, and required insurance for your car and house.. and see if you are paying more than 50 percent of your income to taxes.. it's scary...

Government puts themselves before citizens in Illinois. Time for adjustments. Pritzker talked less taxes and raided the budget to all time high of 54 billion. Just 23 years ago or so the state budget was a mere 5 billion and struggling then. Lots of businessmen needed to run government in Illinois. Politicians have no idea how to deal with money.

If murder were suddenly legal tomorrow, you can bet the crime statistic for murder disappears, that doesn't mean murders are no longer committed anymore. Societal attitudes determine what passes for crime, it's that simple.
