  • An Interview with Rosette Teitel
    April 27, 2015
    Interviewer: Barbara Rosenberg
    Camera: Marcie Schoenfeld
If you think you know everything about the holocaust you haven’t seen Rosette Teitel’s interview. She never considered herself a holocaust survivor. She wasn’t in a camp or in hiding. Rosette was born in 1939 in France and at the age of two and a half was sent to live on a farm. She remained there until she was seven years old. She referred to the farmers as Monsieur and Madame, receiving no warmth from anyone on the farm. When Rosette was reunited with her mother her life was anything but idyllic.
In spite of this beginning, Rosette led an exemplary life. Rosette raised two very successful children. She taught French and English as a second language in her years as a teacher in the New York City school system. She herself had to learn a second language which she feels made her a better teacher. Her students remain in touch throughout the years.
