- The Most Incredible Places in Colorado. We leave Moab, Utah and travel south east to Mesa Verde National Park. We then drive the million dollar highway to Ouray, Colorado where we camp at the Ouray KOA ( koa.com/campgr... ). The next day we travel south back down the million dollar highway and to explore the San Juan National Forest. After exploring the San Juan National Forest, we drove back to Ouray and enjoyed dinner at Gold Belt Bar & Grill ( goldbeltbarand... ). The next morning we picked up breakfast at Timberline Deli of Ouray. Our finial destination was the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.

Thank you for documenting the land of my ancestors....Good editing too....May the Gods of my ancestors protect you on your travels.
Your drone work is great.
Yes! You've explored SW Colorado! One of my favorite locations to enjoy nature. The views, history, and the atmosphere there is hard to beat. Onward to your next adventure! One of your best videos! Loved it, thanks!!!💖🏞⛺📷🦅🐻🥰
Black Canyon of the Gunnison and Great Sand Dunes in one day ?!? Y'all are crazy. I hope you'll come back because the Great Sand Dunes are fantastic and you can camp in the campground right there or even on the dunes if you're up to it!
Lol! We do plan on coming back. We haven’t even checked to see if they are open now. It’s closer to home than other places we have been. Thanks for watching
Almost no words from me just as I imagine for you … I want to cry knowing all that exists! 🥰
Awesome, guys! My wife and I (also from Arkansas) did this trip several years ago. We loved Ouray... loved the Million Dollar highway... loved Mesa Verde. Your video shows the best of it all. Thanks for the memories.
Thank you for watching!
Seriously, you two. Best footage of million dollar highway I have ever seen. Thanks!!!!
Thank you so much!!!!!
I am from Greenville, TX I also fly drones and you did some outstanding footage! I am an X commercial pilot and have traveled a lot but did not get to explore like yall do. Amazing video. Thanks so much!
The canyon at the end was really spectaculaaarrrrr!
Million dollar highway was steep and that waterfall was amazing!
Tioga Pass from Lee Vining up is pretty steep too. My parents took us up there when we were kids in the early 70's and it was still a one lane dirt road with pullouts. I remember it like yesterday. My Mom really hated it. My Dad, brother, and I thought it was cool.
You to are so cool for posting these amazing trips. Life is way to short. Glad to have a little cool times
Agreed! Thanks for watching
Absolutely loves y’all videos! This is what the travel channel should be showing. Keep them coming and would love to see a cook book from you.
Thank you!
I would never have seen any of this in my lifetime. Thank you for sharing. All of it!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Your so welcome!
Kelly is smart saying she would not jump! I love your editing and how you capture flowers and the solitude on the panoramic scans. Travel safely , friends. Definitely drier than your Wichita Mountains trip!
Great scenery, interesting info, you both are good at touring and exploring and sharing with us.
We are headed to Trinidad, Big Meadow and Pagosa Springs at the end of this month! Your excitement over Colorado made us that much more excited for our trip!!!
We are so excited for y'all!!!! Please share with us your adventure!
This was an Amazing video! I actually felt like I was there,I am afraid of heights, my stomach actually jumped and my heart skipped a beat. Loved it😍🥰🤩
love your views of the flora along this video and all others
Man when I get my van close to a strem/ river like that i stay my 14 day limit. But then again I live out of my van. But the sound of the water is so relaxing to me i can sleep like a baby. And my dog loves the water. She just loves being outdoors period. Peace ✌
The sound is so soothing. What kind of dog do you have?
Mesa Verde is amazing. We took the tour, and it is something you need to go back and do if you haven't already. We went in October, and the Million Dollar Highway was breathtaking because the aspen were electric yellow against the evergreens. We actually went to that area 2 years in a row because the first year there was the government shutdown the day after we got to out there, and all of the national parks and government grounds were closed. Even the national forests. We spent a week just driving the backroads and visiting some state sites. Black Canyon of the Gunnison was one of our stops the second year, and it is totally mind blowing! The lighting on all the different colored rocks is so beautiful. We saw the sand dunes from a distance and didn't climb them. Happy camping 😊.
We took a family vacation to Colorado in 2020 which included going to Black Canyon of the Gunnison. That’s a great place. We’ll have to see Mesa Verde next time. Three nights of camping and hiking in Colorado was so amazing!!
Great video! Awesome drone footage as well. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
We stayed at that koa February 1st and it was opened and camped in our truck camper, and was about 5 degrees, the hot tub was great, the owners are from Texas like we are.great place in winter to
Thanks for watching! That would have been too cold in the tent for us. Lol!
DOME LIFE I would say so,I couldn’t do it,
During the 80’s is when I toured Mesa Verde. When y’all started climbing those narrow
rock steps I recalled having a photo of my-
self and boyfriend taken right there. Truly amazing how the ancient ones lived off the land. 🪶 Awesome drone footage along the million 💵 hwy. Try adding a small can of mild diced green chilies along with sautéed diced sweet onion and red bell pepper to your taco mix; the added flavors are so nice. 🌶
And 🌽
Great video guys! The views are amazing! Some great looking climbing and kayaking areas for sure
I made my first trip ever pulling a travel trailer cross country and went up from Silverton and Durango. I kissed the ground at Ouray. It was tight in places for sure.
Lol. Could not imagine!
Love Black Canyon and the Oark/Cass area of Arkansas. Cheers.
Beautiful areas for sure!

@@CodyandKellie .
Well you made to one of my FAV States!!! My brother, who is retired, goes up and works at Rio Grande National Forest every summer. He is based not too far from Creede. That is another place you HAVE to go check out in the future. Colorado is AMAZING!!! So much back country to explore. LOVE Gunnison! Safe travels home to our State. Look forward to your next adventure.
It’s an awesome place. We really enjoy this part of the state for sure! Easy to get away
I thought the million dollar highway was the section from Ouray to Silverton. I was on it once, but I was a child so I don't remember more than my aunt riding in the floorboard of the car to avoid the windows. So beautiful.
It’s a beautiful area
awesome video Thank you
I like the "we're in a tight spot" O Brother movie
Thanks for watching
@@CodyandKellie , I noticed that, too! Haha!
Next FYI, most locals will tell you it's pronounced "your-ray" or "yer-ray"...but almost always with the "ya" sound on the front. When you go back(you know you will), I encourage you to check out some of the Alpine Loop trails, definitely check out Animas Forks. For the most part they are mild offroad trails with fantastic scenery, just stay away from Black Bear and Poughkeepsie gulch. Also Clear Lake outside of Silverton...if you're feeling really saucy you could even bike up to Clear Lake. 2000ft elevation rise up to 12,200...so make sure you're really feeling saucy. :) Probably need to plan for a few weeks later for snow to clear...although things will be more crowded then too...anyway, once again love the videos...keep it up guys.
We knew we had to be saying it wrong lol. Thank you! We will make sure to visit those places next time!
YOU-RAY
Tim is right - it’s “your-ray”. Great little town. We drove the Million Dollar Highway in our 35’ Class A. It was terrifying!
Thank for showing very beautiful scenery of nature.
Thanks for watching!
My first time visiting your site. I did LIKED and SUBSCRIBED. Would like to see more. My first time in the same area was in the 60' s with my family packed into a Lincoln Mercury station wagon. Then later with my own homegrown crew twice. In am off road vehicle then a 5th Wheel trailer. Beautiful part of the country. Keep exploring!!
Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Thanks so much, I never will be able to see this in person, it is beautiful
Thanks for watching!
Your making all us other arkansans jealous.
Love the vids, great content as always!
Lol don’t be jealous. We were missing Arkansas very badly. Thank you for watching!
I just wish i could still hike. But a work related accident and 2 BAD motorcycle wrecks stops me in my tracks. But i can hike through watching y'alls beautiful videos. Peace ✌
Sorry to hear that. Happy we can help you have a little experience of hiking.
I loved that hike!!! Petroglyph...we did it twice in 24 hours-once solo and once with our kids....so fun :)
Oh wow! It was a very peaceful hike
Love the video. The snow capped mountains were beautiful!
Thank you!!!
Love Ouray. Been there twice and never knew about that back-country road. Guess I'll have to return!
You sure do!
Loved your video. It brought back so many wonderful memories. Thank you!
Thank you! So happy it brought back memories!!!
More spots that are on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing guys. Stay safe!
Le camping ces la liberté, love the camping
thank you
Beautiful scenery there. We were there at Mesa Verde last summer and went on a tour. I forget which one, but it wasn't one for people with claustrophobia!
Such a beautiful area! We can’t wait to go back and do the tour
Hey again Cody and Kellie....have now viewed your entire Out West trip...looks like you guys really enjoyed it... Have commented to you about other places to see and know you will return to the West after Covid....Another place to look up is Canyon De Chelly that might interest you.....The train whistle you heard was probably the Silverton-Durango Steam Engine Railroad......We loved Mesa Verde....Still enjoying your Drone work and commentary....keep it up......All the best....Hank and Pam from South Texas
Howdy Hank! We are so happy that you enjoyed those! We will have to check it out!
I knew you guys were from Arkansas. Me too. Enjoyed your video. Safe travels.
Thanks for watching!
Great Video! My favorite of yours so far. I’m looking forward to my camping trip out in CO in late July. I won’t get that far west, but looking forward to the adventure!
Thank you so much! We will try and keep them at that level.
DOME LIFE you always put out great stuff .. it’s hard to match that scenery though .. CO is such a jewel for eye candy when it comes to nature. Safe travels!
@@CodyandKellie
I moved to Colorado after waiting most of my life (long story!). You may be concentrating on southern Colorado if you are driving from Arkansas, but could I suggest Collegiate Peaks? near actually overlooking Buena Vista...and everything else. lol They go straight up, are so high, are lined up like soldiers and actually represent the Continental Divide. They have Ivy League college names, of course. It is a BILLION dollar scenic view looking from the East side. Can't say about trails, but there are several Campgrounds and food there. Go river rafting in very popular Brown's Canyon if the water is not too high (the raft companies keep track of water levels).
By the way, a small note, Spanish names in Colorado are ALL pronounced as if in English, so this town is bew-na-vista, or bewnie (spell Buny) for short. A personally review: Aspen/Aspen Valley is beautiful but too remote. Vail is a pretty V-shaped valley but a boring tourist trap :(
Nice Video. Your travel/passage of time shots are quite nicely executed.
Thanks for watching and the kind words!
Next time Telluride- Bridal Veil(waterfall), Gondola to the top of the world, Brown Dog Pizza, Bread....Cortez MtN bike Phil's world...Durango/Bayfield- Animas Mountain Trail, Gudy's rest on Colorado Trail, Lions Den next to Fort Lewis College, Vallecito Creek Trail and Campground. Silver Lake. Hike Engineer MTN. IT'S on Million dollar highway north of Durango 30 Mins.
Thank you! We just put all those locations on our map!!!

Oh, my, I almost forgot to share the amazing “Bridal Vail Falls” just a half mile past Telluride, deeper into the valley.
Consider that trip in the fall! It’s like looking at an antique quilt draped across the mountains.
Man I miss living in western Colorado!!!
Thanks for watching!
Love what your both doing..Love the states I'm a Canadian and have checked out some of your travel spots..I was a kid then..Hoping to return to Mesa Verda and more ..One day..I'm an Island gal now.. Vancouver Island BC Canada
Thanks for watching! We’re hoping to make it to Canada some time.
You should take the boat tour, awesome....and when in Gunnison, don't miss some Black Canyon coffee at Back Country Cafe
No it's Tributary Roasters I guess, best coffee ever, but we haven't been there in 20 years! So things have changed. We normally ski up the road at Crested Butte, the state parks near Almont are fantastic, go to One Mile camp there.
I wish we would have had more time. We will be going back and will check out the coffee. Thanks for watching!
And don't forget to try the hot springs. There are pools on the north end of Ouray. We spent about three hours in those pools. Total relaxation.
Sadly they were closed. We look forward to going back next year. Thanks for watching!
I got to do the cliff house trail tour it was awesome. Skied in Durango and did the silverton train ride when I was 59.
Just stumbled into ur channel! Awesome stuff in this video. I’ve heard a lot about Ouray and it looks amazing. Love Mesa and Black Canyon! Good stuff👍
Thank you!
Another amazing video guys. Great job!
Thank you!
My neck of the woods. I lived in Durango for 4years. The western slope has a lot of beautiful spots.
Beautiful area for sure!
What a great video fantastic scenery man, looks like some awesome places
Thank you!
Really enjoyed the video!!😬 thanks for sharing your adventure⛰
Thank you for watching
I thought Mesa Verde was great till I went to Hovenweep National Park. That was amazing! I never hear people talking about Hovenweep! You can enter a series of cliff dwellings and also see hands painted on their walls.
Thanks for watching! We need to look that park up. Sounds interesting!
DOME LIFE Canyons of the Ancients, Hovenweep and Mesa Verde. They are all in the same area.
OMG! Nothing like the sound of a zipper opening the tent!
We stopped over in Ouray while we were out west July of 2019. That fall in town is amazing! We also stopped at that hot spring on the million dollar highway. However we went the opposite direction coming down from Estes Park across the continental divide in RMNP, Grand Lake (y'all would love that little town), Glenwood Springs (Hiked to Doc Holiday's grave site), then on to Rifle Falls state park, down to Ouray, Silverton (a step back in time), Durango, then the Mesa Verde (we were equally "geeked" out), 4 corners, New Mexico, Amarillo (like I said on one of your other vids, Palo Duro Canyon is pretty awesome) then made our way back to Benton. We bought concert tickets (Cody Jinks 🤠) for Red Rocks and planned our vacay around that. 10 days out west was fun, but no place like HOME!
That sounds like an epic adventure!!!
@@CodyandKellie totally was 🤙
Beautiful places. And y'all did a beautiful job on the video.
Thank you!
Such a cool adventure! Thanx for sharing🇺🇸
Thanks for watching!
We enjoyed the million dollar highway. It was beautiful and we honestly didn't think it was as scary as going up to the top of pikes peak.
It was all amazing.
Thank you
Oh my I want to go there!!! It is BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you!
the drive up and down is the best part .
Thanks for watching!
11:41 .. Ya'll look like you just heard the Trumpets of Christ return! hahahaha
Heck that’s how we felt for sure. Lol
Enjoyed every minute!
Thanks for watching
You should hit the town of Silverton also...thats where that trains is going to. Once in Silverton hike up Kendal Mountain.
We definitely will on our next trip there
Great video as always. My wife and I are headed to Durango/Silverton/Ouray/Telluride in September. We cant wait, what road were you on at the 24:00 minute mark? Thanks for the information.
Thank you! Yall will have a blast! That was Forest Road 823
@@CodyandKellie So cool! Thank you for the answer. Love your videos
Great video! What was the first stops name at Gunnison the ranger recommended? The second was the painted wall, first?
Do you remember the name of the first stop at Gunnison? I'll be there tomorrow, I def wanna hit it up! Thanks!
I’m not sure.
Kia Ora that was bloody good loved Kelly's meals
Cheers kiwi Pete
Thank you!
Awesome guys
Thank you
Girl your food looks bomb!!!!
Thanks for watching!
Loving the videos. Ouray is pronounced YOU ray😀
Cool video. We did the million dollar highway years ago.
Thank you! It’s An amazing drive for sure
I'm subscribing based on your channel name alone. Brilliant.
Thank you!
See what i mean. Guys. She teases us single guys with that great food. Im 55 and swore off a regular steady woman ever again. But dangit she is making me want to get another permanent 👩. Peace ✌
Man she is a unicorn.
@@CodyandKellie definitely a good catch for sure, lucky fella
If you're still there or going back you should hit up the Royal Gorge Bridge and Garden of The Gods too. You could probably spend a lifetime in that state and not need to go anywhere else, haha. I'm planning a 2 or 3 week trip late next year if all is well. Been there quite a few times and would always come back.
We are back in Arkansas now, but we definitely will when we head back that way
Guys i absolutely love utah for early summer camping and it's absolutely spectaclur views. But nothing compares to summer camping in Colorado. My no. 1 spot for hot weather get away. I love Leadville. I can get up in elevation about June through Sept. I can use my stay at 65 to 82 depending how far i want to travel. MY NO. 1 DISPERSED CAMPING AREA. ALLLL OF UPPER COLORADO
Colorado is best in the middle of summer. Can’t wait to go back. Have not been to Leadville
Did you two work at a mortuary before you started this Adventure the time I so laugh right at the end but it was a great video thank you.
Thanks for watching!
If you’re in the area again, check out Ice Lake basin hike near Silverton. Easily the best hike we’ve been on. THE craziest views. Also Molas Lake campground outside of Silverton. Love your watching all your videos for camping/travel ideas!
Thank you so much, we have added those locations to our map of places to visit and will definitely be going there the next time we are out that way!
Thank you for watching!
Beautiful shots 😍
Thanks for watching!
Gorgeous! Thank you
Thanks for watching!
Absolutely awesome guys
Thanks for watching!
@@CodyandKellie no problem guys im tryn to buy van and all to start my van life.
I'd say Oufay./Black Canyon. Are my most favorite areas of Colorado.
I would agree! We have been to other areas like Boulder and Estes Park. We feel in love with Ouray area. Thanks for watching!
This was an awesome video! My wife and I were in Ouray last year. What road were you on at 25:00? It seems like most SUV's with decent clearance could handle it. Would love to drive it the next time we're in Ouray.
Dropped pin
Near Forest Rd 679, Ophir, CO 81426
goo.gl/maps/WThjDaErvjPYFTYj7. I think most vehicles could make it up there.
And FYI, if you lock your keys in the car at an overlook, a park ranger will come help you out for free if you can get enough signal to call. :) Really surprised Cliff House was closed. It can be done self guided...there are always rangers down at the dwellings to keep you off of certain areas, but for the most part it can be pretty freely explored...but I guess since they don't have anyone down there, they didn't want to take the chance of bad actors messing things up. Oh well, it just gives y'all the excuse to go back...
I believe its been closed for a few years. There was a rock fall from the top and they declared it unstable.
You guys do great ‘B’ roll.
Thanks for watching!
Great vid, something worth subscribing to. Can ya tell me when you guys were touring Ouray. Not gonna spell it phonetically, just say it the way I wanna say it... Kinda like Prescott AZ, or should I be saying Priss-kit? Anyway, thanks for the vid...
Thanks for watching and subscribing! It was in May.
Mesa Verde is AMAZING! I lived in Telluride for 7 years and had yearly passes to our national parks. I would go to Mesa Verde any time I hit Cortez for groceries.
But honestly, the trip to Silver springs is a lot more interesting on the steam train from Durango. And the highway from Telluride to Cortez is actually so much more beautiful then that one. ESP in the fall when the bald eagles congregate along the river that the highway follows. You will have to head that way next time.
It was so fun remembering how newbies see the area.
There’s also an amazing “clothing optional” hot springs on your way to Ridgeway. It’s worth the stop.
We need to explore more of that area. Thanks for watching!
Wow....did it say how these cliffs were formed?
Man in my younger days I'd like to had base jump from that 2000 ft cliff. Whoooooa. Peace ✌
Be pretty cool man
Great pics!!!!
Thank you
You need to see pikes peak and Colorado Springs happpy adventures
Yes we do! That is in the books. Thanks for watching!
Hey that looks like like .. fun.
When you are in Ouray Colorado, you do not want to miss the Perimeter Trail that gains 1000 feet in elevation and surrounds the town with spectacular scenes, and it is six miles in length. It is an unforgettable experience!! By the way, I drove the million dollar highway pulling my rv and did not burn up my brakes using a low gear and did not accelerate excessively between the tight curves. ENJOY!!!
Miss Colorado! Grew up there! Been to Mesa Verde and Gunnison. Never seen the old village built in the mountain. That place you guys ate, was that in Ouray and do they have hotels there?
It was, and there were many hotels there
Ouray is huge for tourists coming in the winter for both amateur and professional ice climbing! A friend of mine does professional photography of the competitions there every year. Easy for him since he still lives in Aspen.
I lived in the ski areas year round for almost 20 years. I Miss It Too!!!
that's awesome!
Thank you!
Awesome content . I guess I need to level up. Hahaha.
Thanks for watching!
