In 1995, I visited the park and cooked a steak on my grill. This was at the North rim. I finished eating and soon after, two falcons flew near me. For 20 minutes, they whistled past me like two miniature jets doing acrobatic precision manouvers. I'll never forget that.
I was just at this place this past weekend and I gotta say, it is unbelievable to see in person. My eyes almost didn’t know how to comprehend it and almost made me dizzy. Of course this is coming from a guy that lives in no mountains Indiana 😂
Best time to go is April, no doubt, Snow every but the canyon and path, HUGE SNOWY mountains behind. The day I went it was closed so I walked the 4 mile walk there, and the 4 back , took all day, one of my favorite places ever
Didn't see anything about taking the winding road down into the canyon. There's a campground at the bottom of the canyon and you can hike alongside the Colorado River. Tons of bears, absolutely stunning scenery from the top and the bottom of the canyon! Highly recommend checking it out. Drink a beer with your toes in the cold river water with some good friends, nothing better! Just dispose of your trash properly ;-)
@@megaravanger I can guarantee unless it was for search and rescue or for fire safety reasons or some study of the area ( and with prior written permission ) its very illegal to fly a drone in any of the United States National Parks or any monuments etc that are run by the parks service. The penalty its said is an automatic 5000.00 fine and as well possibly up to 6 months in jail for flying a drone within a National Park. Obviously just because there was no law enforcement those people you saw got away with it. This law has been in place since 2014.

Very nice, hope to visit again, only do everything you suggested. Thanks
Is early May a good time?
Graneros Gorge another pretty spot In Colorado City
That was helpful -- thank you.
I'm gonna go tomorrow
Excellent video, very informative. Thank you.
It's called a canyon but I believe it is truly a gorge. I think it's classified a gorge if it is deeper than it is wide.
Black Gorge of the Gunnison sounds lame though
Canyon sounds more spectacular
