Anthony is so creepy. The way he said: "Go on. Tell me you will be my wife." That tone was so the opposite of romantic. And yes, Macy's play is also kinda weird, when she has been married to Thorne and has dropped Anthony for her ex-husband, the police interrupting their second wedding, but now Macy pretends that marriage is something she does not really want. okay, Anthony saw right through that act.
*Brad Bell vs Bill Bell: the Ridge/Taylor/Brooke Love Triangle* Brad Bell has switched the roles of Taylor and Brooke and reversed the dynamic in the love triangle from the way his father wrote it (Taylor used to be _the wife_ and now she's _the other woman_ ). But it's not working because the triangle is unbalanced and because the new roles don't match the characters. When Ridge and Taylor were married, you could still believe he might leave her for Brooke because his scenes with Brooke were romantically charged and she had real leverage (Bridget). But now there's no "heat" in the scenes with Ridge and Taylor and her spending time with the kids doesn't achieve anything because they're not her kids. Taylor as "the other woman" doesn't work because she has no leverage and she's not an actively competitive character like Brooke. She's no real threat to the marriage. At the same time, Brooke doesn't work as "the wife" either because her scenes of domestic bliss with Ridge are still all about the kids. It's as if there's no substance to the marriage and she still has to keep playing the children card which makes her seem as grasping and insecure as she was before. That's very different from the previous scenes of marital bliss between Ridge and Taylor where she didn't have his kids but their grown-up way of relating to each other, analyzing themselves and other characters, and the balance in their relationship between Ridge's _passion_ and Taylor's _reason_ made them a compelling married couple. In every way, the new arrangement of the love triangle is inferior to the old.
Lucid analysis of Bridge and Tridge. All the actors of the triangle have chemistry. But, if we analyse them from the character chemistry point of view, as you said, Tridge is more engaging and glamorous. We have the proof of that character's chemistry even under the junior writer that speaks volumes about his father's work. And I loved the first Tridge marriage. It had everything: youth, love, intimacy, friendship, fun, "real" troubles and s ex. Bridge's fire disappeared after the wedding showing all the flatness of the couple.
Ridge’s passion and Taylor’s reason made them a compelling married couple? Hmmmm…I remember Brooke being their main topic of conversation during their early marriage? Brooke being perceived as a threat to their marriage by Taylor. Brooke so cleverly playing the other woman? Here Brooke sees Taylor as a threat to her marriage to Ridge. Seems that this triangle is going in a different direction…Brooke is using family as her power move like last time? Taylor is acting more confident as the other woman like Brooke did for different reasons? Ridge has become a family man…so Taylor has more to overcome this time as the other woman? 🤷♀️ Previously, Ridge hadn’t become a family man…now he has…so that seems to be the angle the writers are focusing on in this triangle. 😮

*The fairytale aspects of Macy's battle with Anthony* I have commented before how the Macy/Anthony storyline is not really a typical B&B plot as it has traits of fairy tale rather than realism (that is, the mythical/arcehtypal aspect is more openly on display than usual). What we see here, with Macy turning Anthony's cr ime and manipulation against him and using them to bring him down, is an example of the typical *"outwitting the monster"* trope found in many fairy tales - especially the variation of the trope where the monster is defeated by their own wea pon (or evil nature) being turned against them by their intended vic tim. Some parallels would be the mythological basilisk, a snake whose gaze is lethal but which can be unalived if it is made to look at itself in a mirror, and the wi tch in Hansel and Gretel, who tries to lure Gretel to step into the oven but instead Gretel turns the tables on the w i tch, tri cks her into putting her own head in the oven, and pushes her in, unaliving the witch using her own methods. Another parallel is The Rob ber Bridegroom (another Grimm Brothers fairy tale), where the heroine of the story is about to be unalived by her ho mi ci dal fiancé, but instead manages to expose him by offering proof that he unalived another woman. A similar theme is explored in the folk tale Bluebeard. There are also parallels to other myths and folk tales - like we have previously seen, there is an underlying *Big Bad Wolf/Little Red Riding Hood* dynamic between Anthony and Macy, ow subverted since Macy has actually _seen through_ the Wolf's disguise (but pretends that she hasn't). And there are also echoes of the type of fairy tales and myths revolving around getting out of a *Faustian contract* by outwitting the devil - for example, there are striking similarities between the Macy/Anthony plot and the Grimm Brothers fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin, in which a young girl enters into a "deal with the devil" in order to win a prince, and can only be released from that contract by guessing the "devil's" name - which she luckily finds out by happening to overhear him saying it triumphantly to himself. This corresponds quite closely to Macy entering into a deal with Anthony that she can only be released from by making him "reveal his name" - that is, confess his true nature - and just like the young girl in the fairy tale, Macy finds out the truth by happening to overhear the devil br a gging about his secret. It fits with Anthony being an "archetypally evil" character rather than a human being (which I have spoken about before), as well as Macy being a kind of "Everyman" (or "Everywoman") - she is down to earth, human, relatable, and pos sesses no "superpowers" or great physical strength, but has to rely solely on her own courage, determination and wit. In terms of storytelling, when there's a "rescue plot" and the woman sets out to save the captive man (rather than the other way around), what we see here with Macy is a recurring theme in drama - that the woman has to compromise (or is asked to compromise) her principles (that is, offer herself as a bargaining chip) in order to achieve her loved one's freedom. We see it, for example, in Puccini's Tosca, and in Shakespeare's Measure for Measure - again underlining the theatrical aspect of this storyline.
Love the breakdown (and examples) of the different kinds of fairytale tropes being used in this storyline. And yes, we're not supposed to view Anthony as a complex villain whose motives we sometimes identify with and who we even root for (like Sheila). He's just evil personified like a fairytale villain.
@@NewYorkNick0607 thanks Nick! And yes, we have talked before about the difference between Anthony and Sheila and how it gives these two storyline "opposite points of view" (because even though Sheila was the villain, the dungeon storyline was still very much from her point of view).

I think Eric jr knows Eric is his dad…but Ridge has been a father figure to him since he was a baby. Eric appears to be a hands off dad for now. At some point later Eric jr becomes Ricky…and Eric will take back his responsibility as the father.🤷♀️
Judge ruled Taylor's marriage is legal and Brookes isn't. Ridge leave Taylor regardless to stay with Brooke and Taylors devastated. Anthony catches onto Macy and pulls a gun on her but Sally to the rescue and they turn the tables on Anthony. I think he gets arrested and Thorne goes free and Macy and Thorne get back together
Why is it that Stephanie assumes that if Taylor gets back together with Ridge she will be spending a lot of time with those children? After all, that was not the case the last time Ridge and Taylor were together. And even if Bridget is (presumed to be) Ridge's daughter, Little Eric is not Ridge's child and would have no reason to spend time with Ridge as a father figure if Ridge is no longer married to Brooke. So why would anyone assume that Taylor would be a stepmother figure to Little Eric?
I just wondered about that too. Are Bridget and little Eric now a package deal? If Ridge gets to spend time with his daughter, her -his- brother would be involved too?
Eric jr and Bridget are a package deal for Brooke and Ridge. Ridge is Brooke’s son’s godfather and half brother. While Ridge is with Brooke Eric jr looks on him as a father figure. If Ridge decides to be with Taylor…I think the bond with Ridge will be broken? That is what happens down the road… 😮 For purposes of this plot Ridge is presented as father to both children. As far as Taylor becoming step mother to Eric jr…I would think that might be one mother too many? 😮
Stephanie and Taylor love to talk about Brooke doing sneaky things and underhanded things but they do exactly that and then they laugh it off like it's nothing😮
Brooke Forrester spends more time with her kids than Taylor don't have any kids yet but I'm pretty sure she would have abandoned them by now 😮 like she abandoned her family when she chose to stay princess Layla and knew exactly who she was
Eric, you really need to step up being a father for your youngest son. Here we have _grandma_ Stephanie spending more and more time with the previous children. Taylor is eager to spend an enormous amount of time with them. _Daddy Ridge_ is back and eager to spend time with his boy and his girl. If you are not careful, there might not be any space left in the schedule for any father-son time.
Me too. My favorite era was when she had the short cut when Brooke was involved with Thorne in the late 90’s. I feel like the long hair makes her look old
Its absolutely ridicolous that Eric jr calls Stephanie grandma and Rigde daddy. Lord, Brooke really pushed her family fantasies down the throat of those kids. Does Eric jr even know Eric Sr? Has Jr any idea about Sr exists or who he is? No wonder Ricky boy will completely go nuts. Eric sr always has been an absentee father. He has admitted being it with his grown children. And the little onces as well.
It is a blissful arrangement for her because she gets to mask that she married both father and son and _supposedly_ had children for both of them. In HER reality, she finally has Ridge and has had children with him.
If Taylor gets to spend an enormous amount of time with those children in the future if TRIDGE reunite, what will little Eric and Bridget call her? Mom? Auntie? Taylor? Doc? (copying Ridge)
@@annieo6527 LOL. That would be messy, considering that Rick will propose to Taylor one day and they will be engaged. But it would fit with B&B's kind of _family_

Not intentionally tho... She really had no idea who Deveney was in relation to Steph or the Forresters and genuinely thought she was doing something good
With the lack of finishing fake Angela's story, I am not sure anyone has even told Sally that Devoney Dixon has been the Angela imposter (Stephanie and Eric have even lied to their children that "Angela" had suddenly died, so that they wouldn't have to tell them about the imposter). We had Stephanie finding out and rushing to save drunk/medicated Thorne from shooting his brother (again), but afterwards there wasn't one scene that had the Forrester brothers talking about Angela/Devony, or was there? There was no mentioning that the police had been told and were looking for Angela/Devoney, or do I remember that wrong?

*The fairytale aspects of Macy's battle with Anthony*
I have commented before how the Macy/Anthony storyline is not really a typical B&B plot as it has traits of fairy tale rather than realism (that is, the mythical/arcehtypal aspect is more openly on display than usual).
I can’t read all this! I have ADD!!! 😅
@@NewYorkNick0607 thanks Nick! And yes, we have talked before about the difference between Anthony and Sheila and how it gives these two storyline "opposite points of view" (because even though Sheila was the villain, the dungeon storyline was still very much from her point of view).

And what would a 70-year-old woman say who only watches one episode a day 😀 Let's hope that will change in the future...
That fake pool (just 6 inches deep) never has seen so much action before as we have now, when the little kids get their swimming lessons.

Eric Sr. must be an absentee father to little Eric who now calls his brother dad!
i think the toddler is just being brainwashed.
Sad because he had a better relationship with Connor like Connor taking him to the beach and Disneyland
I think Eric jr knows Eric is his dad…but Ridge has been a father figure to him since he was a baby. Eric appears to be a hands off dad for now.
At some point later Eric jr becomes Ricky…and Eric will take back his responsibility as the father.🤷♀️
Éric Éric is the father at least of 50% of these kids for now... the writing was so insane here and not coherent
OMG Macy is taking forever, she didn't have to do all of this; she'll likely get found out
I'm trying to remember how all this will end, and I can't recall this storyline at all, lol
Same here. Once Sheila left I lost interest.
I am seeing this whole season for the first time, so no idea?
Who really spends a lot of time with the children. Often they are out and about with a Logan aunt.
That is what happens down the road…
😮
For purposes of this plot Ridge is presented as father to both children. As far as Taylor becoming step mother to Eric jr…I would think that might be one mother too many? 😮
Stephanie and Taylor love to talk about Brooke doing sneaky things and underhanded things but they do exactly that and then they laugh it off like it's nothing😮

I've always preferred KKL with shorter hair.
Pregnant Brooke looked her best, also the face and her hair was long, lush and healthy...

Not intentionally tho... She really had no idea who Deveney was in relation to Steph or the Forresters and genuinely thought she was doing something good
@@TriniT21 But the end result was the same..
