    Shimmy you are awesome! Your enthusiasm is what drew me to watching you one day when you did a video wearing a shirt with HARVARD on and your non-american accent hahaha. That was years ago and now I'm finally diving in as the time is right. Covid definitely changed my plans - for 4 years, but now things are settled. Carry on Shimmy!

    Clean and simple, great advice Shimmy. Found you about a month ago and I've been enjoying the videos.
    The mock up vid is especially great. Well worth a watch. I'll be adapting your advice for use in Photoshop.

    Shimmy, would you consider doing an updated Facebook ads tutorial. The older ones were before they removed audience insights. I remember doing Facebook ads black in the day too, but with all the changes I would love a refresher. I love your style and honesty so I would be interested to see how you set up your ads and target your audience, thanks.

    About #4: I always worry that if I try to sell in a niche that I know nothing about, this will be immediately obvious to people do know the niche (i.e. prospective customers) and that I would come across as fake. Thoughts?

    Can you do a video on what print on demand print services you use (Printify, printful, etc) or which marketplaces you recommend to a beginner that offers the best customization, features, or usability? (Redbubble, teepublic, merch on demand, etc). Is it better to build a shopify site even if your plan is to offer a broad range of design subject matter that is not cohesive? Thanks in advance!

  • @MikeGinn
    @MikeGinn 29 днів тому +1

    I agree whole-heartedly with 4 out of 5.
    #4 as you said, people will not like. Well, there is a reason for that. While you are 100% correct about sales will make you happy, the fact is that selling something you enjoy and are passionate about allows you to market it better and design it better. I can't sell something that I know nothing about just because data says it's trending. The truth is that I am more likely to buy something from someone that can passionately tell me why it's awesome than a stranger that knows nothing about it.
    Also, on a sidenote... and I say this as a fan of your channel and videos. I've subscribed for a long time. Your videos lately seem more attacking and negative. When before you were positive and uplifting. It was refreshing. Now I'm sadly not as interested. I really hope you find that version again. But in the end, everyone has to do what works best for them.
    And to end on a positive note. The mockup advice is spot on!

      There is a reason for choosing your hobbies and interests if those are marketable: You need to understand your target and have insights about them to design products that they will buy. Marketing companies can spend millions on getting info, but if you have that about a certain group of people with shared interests, then you have part of the job done there. What kind of designs would gen-x dads buy? I don't know. A marketeer might suggest using a focus groups, polls, and other research methods to find out! Meanwhile, if you know a lot about a hobby and the people that is interested in it (like demographics), then you will have a good idea of what kind of designs you can sell to that people

    Two things I don't agree with here ..firstly you. Have ppl selling custom wall art that making 1000s each month . so to say it's not worth it (basically) is not right second is the mock up I believe having a person wearing the shirt works well . I do agree with u that we should get unique mock ups tho

    • @shimmymorris1
      @shimmymorris1  Місяць тому

      would love to hear what that's based on... but I don't need everyone to agree... important to have your own researched ideas. I didn't say wall art wasn't successful... i said t-shirts was the most... which it is.

    • @SpeedbirdHeavy
      @SpeedbirdHeavy Місяць тому +1

      A person wearing a shirt is good but not for your main Etsy listing photo and not for a Google ad image either. Google prefers to see just the product, no background distractions whatsoever.

    when designing t-shirts, we need to look at the finished product and ask ourselves, "Is this something I would buy?" If you wouldn't buy it, why would a potential customer? I also apply this rule to my KDP books before uploading.

    Shimmy, I like your videos very much but I wish you would give some more practical advises, new great tools that you use on your own, some Tutorials etc. Because whenever I see one of your videos I feel that most of the things you explain you already explained in multiple other videos before. I would like to have my comment understood as constructive criticism as I generally am a big fan of your channel and your courses

      Thank you. I do appreciate the constructive criticism.
      This video is practical advice though.
      I also made a tutorial mockup last week which is also what you’re talking about.
      A lot of the tutorials I keep for our Print on Demand Hub Community as it makes sense to keep it all there.
      Over time I’ll add more videos.
      But what would you like to see?
      I try not to use too many tools as I think most of them are a waste of money.
