Sysex|Studio - I have heard Paolo give a nod to Eninio Moricone in the past on his Moog video. Guess he is a fan. Mind you who isn't. Fantastic sound tracks to the Eastwood spaghetti westerns, I just recently picked them up on vinyl.
What a great bank holiday weekend gift. Another unboxing video from Mr Synthmania himself Paolo, delivered as only you can sir. My only problem is I am dead jealous. I haven't had the pleasure of a true unboxing experience myself since my Korg Vocla. I can't afford anything else. (Insert mean look towards kids - all three of em 😁)
Paper stuff, power cord, suppressed JFK files, Jimmy Hoffa's GPS coordinates, MIDI cable, SD Card, instruction manual, Giorgio Moroder's masters for the Scarface Soundtrack and a quick start guide. Just kidding, sounds dope man.
One thing Roland made in the late 90s that I still used to this day is my VM 3100 Pro 12 channel virtual mixer. The learning curve was steep but once you master it it's unbelievable the power it has. Has two built-in effects processors. And because all of the mixing is digital no fader noise.
Definitely - those mixers were killer. I had the baby unit at some point, the later generation M-10DX, loved that little digital mixer, great sound. The VM-7200 was even more killer and I remember that I wanted to get one, but then decide to stay with analog :-|
SynthMania the 7200 was a dream for me I couldn't afford it at the time. But the 3100 Pro is dope. Before my Roland I had a Soundcraft Spirit 12-channel mini mixer. Which I used so much I turned the rotary faders into dust🤣
I have the revision of the JU-06 which is based off of the Juno 106, and it is great when it comes to the preset sounds on it, and I think this one should be as good too.
I own a few SE eurorack modules and they are built like a tank. I was wondering if this was of the same build quality. Sounds great, price is nice too👍
I really love the sound of seo2. It's probably the best sounding Boutique out there. Do you think the Behringer is worth getting if I already have the seo2? I love the fact that the seo2 has effects on it. Thanks for making the awesome videos keep them up.
Sam, thank you, yes, they are different sounding so I think they could complement each other well - the Behringer is "warmer", closer to the original; the Roland/Studio Electronics is more modern sounding and with fx, sequencer, patch memory etc - both are great machines to have.
Very cool, but for its next true analog Boutique, Roland should consider going it alone. They need the practice. That being said, if you were going to make a borderline Minimoog clone, who could be a better partner than a company that got its start making rackmount conversions of Minimoogs?
I just love the expression to your playing. Great little synth . How do find tweaking such small controls , i guess its something you would get used to .
I'm not trying to be mean but you know what is weird about this video. It looks like you are filming a video of yourself playing on another screen. There is something off about the resolution here. It might be the quality you are using and that's fine that's great if you are getting the resolution like that but if you are filming a recorded version of yourself that's fine too, still weird.
Tried one out once and loved the sound, but the tiny size of it really put me off.
Your demo reminds me why I loved the sound!
It's not tiny Alex, just far away ;)
So nice at 7:05 Congrats on your new synth😎🎶
Thanks.... backward slash hyphen period
Great stuff man!
Evergreen I hope he (synth mania) releases a solo instrumental recording. would love to own.
Love the new wave Spaghetti Western music! Great demo!

John Tammaro awesome. I need to get them on vinyl too!
Was a treat to listen to your work.
THank you, Dan

That too.
Lmao 😂😂

I have a Toraiz AS-1 and it is amazing. I want a B model D and this beauty the SE-02. Nice demo dude 🤚
Thanks, dude!
Awesome, thank you for your videos
@4:34 patch 11 reminds me of the intro of Tarot Woman by the band Rainbow and @8:48 reminds me of early Prodigy.
7:05 I can see Frank walking up and out of the heat waves of Monument Valley, stop, smile, and pull a harmonica out of his pocket...
I like your minor pentatonic skills.. great demo

Please bless us with some sweet synthmania patches for our SE-02s. 😁
very good work my brother
Have you played with the IK Uno Synth yet? Would love to hear what you think of it.
has a lot of prodigy sounding stuff

Nathan Shores yep, it’s rock solid and awesome. I bought it on a whim whilst looking for 303 bass sounds and so glad i got the se instead of just a TB
The very first demo & review that doesn't say "it's not a Moog" 😂 (it's actually just inspired by it 👌)

Paolo is the best

Nice job! Thanks!
Thank you for watching!
What is that afterburner which appears @8:18, 8:23 in JV-1080 chords? You hold the chord and suddenly some powerful "oomph" appears.
Aftertouch
Sounds good, but they should include some tweezers in the box 😁
THX! Sounds Kewl!!!
did you ever get a Prophet REV2? I might let you come over and play mine - but only if you're good.
Instructions unclear - "come over and play mine".. "but only if you're good".... I'm not coming to your house!
Jokes aside, :D I haven't bought the Prophet rev2 yet, but plan to get one this year or the.next
your loss! :P
might sell you mine
i was going to put my xp80 away for a few years and buy one of these :)
Congratulation like
Cool man
Yes, I am a cool man.
SynthMania, hahaha I mean, cool Roland but you are cool too hahaha
I've had this midi piano, and if i remind well, velocity was awfull. You deserve so much better!
Is that a preset beat/loop of the jv1080 towards the end of the video?
Hey I need help on something
I need to identify a instrument from a song.
Are you starting to lean towards the new stuff now?
I'll do both - many people keep asking me to do reviews of modern gear
I purchased all this gear. When and if it's given to me by a manufacturer, I would of course specify that at the beginning of the video.
Really wish this wasn’t a boutique synth. I love the sound, but give it to me on at least a full size 49 key!
✨ Great video! 🌟 😻 💘
Holly, thanks so much!
SE02 or. SH01A?
If you update the firmware you'll get 4 patch banks instead of 1 👍
Thanks, ER IC, I've seen that and plan to update it soon.👍
Hey, Paolo. U said u be 49 in next month. June? What day?
Hi Paolo. Which expansion cards (if any) do you have (or would you recommend) for the 1080? Thanks! K
Moog filters have the best sound on the planet but Roland comes in a close second. Both are very different but none can match.
mattsynth this is not a Roland design.
What is the drum break in the intro to this video?
It's a loop from the SR-JV80-06
You should set up a patreon account. We could get you deepmind 12 or matrixbrute.
Several people have told me the same thing... Tbh I haven't really looked into how Patreon works yet - I'll go take a look...
Does it have an arpeggiator?
It has a pretty fun/powerful little sequencer. No arpeggiator
Roland where are your fat synth with fat knobs fat sounds and Normal 6.35 jack output :( Minimalism is a good idea but not in despite of quality
!
