They had to get rid of the two color helmets as they discovered that the half gold, half black helmets were actually giving the opposing teams easier head movement positions reads of their players, than with one single color helmet.
SteelCity1981 that seems like odd reasoning. QBs would have the same advantage picking up the helmets as defenders would. If that’s the case why isn’t everybody wearing all black helmets?
The Jags need to return back to their core identity as a team with a solid defense and a strong running game. Historically, the Jags have always nailed it with running backs (Fred Taylor, MJD) and top defenders (Marcus Stroud, John Henderson, Mike Peterson, Calais Campbell, Jalen Ramsey, etc).

The UT reason: The Jaguars victory over the Steelers in the playoffs came with a heavy cost. They contracted their cancer. Jacksonville became arrogant and drama seeped into the organization that created an implosion. My reason: The 2017 Jaguars were never that good to begin with. They were a fluke team that beat the very low expectations placed on them, snuck out of nowhere on teams that didn’t expect them. They were playing a fourth place schedule. Combined with the Houston Texans getting ravaged by injury, and the Colts losing Andrew Luck, it opened up the wide-open AFC South even wider. They played a weak Bills team, and an overrated Steelers team plagued by locker room drama and team cancer in the playoffs. Everything lined up perfectly for them that one year.
EdmacZ If that was the case, they would’ve been annihilated by the Pats in the AFC Championship Game, but they were actually pretty competitive that game. To me, I attribute this to a myriad of things. The Jags released one of their veterans, Marcedes Lewis, which they shouldn’t have done in hindsight. One of their other veterans retired, Paul Posluszny. The Jags then drafted Taven Bryan who hasn’t really generated any attention compared to the fact that they could’ve signed Lamar Jackson. They were still good, but this team was lacking depth at a few positions and were facing a more difficult schedule in 2018. The Jags actually beat the Pats in Week 2 by a score of 31-20, but then it would be their demise. Their left tackle tore his ACL in that game, and there eventually came many injuries on the o-line. Leonard Fournette was also injured in 2018 which attributed to the offense’s regression and the defense’s regression since they had to be on the field more. Bortles was not protected and a lot of the blame was on him. Tom Coughlin started to micro-manage the team in trying to solve the problems with the Jags, which rubbed people the wrong way.
In the end, I don’t think the Jags should’ve released Blake Bortles and pursued Nick Foles. Even if he did suck in 2019, he would’ve been benched for Gardner Minshew. Coughlin’s ego also demoralized this team. He was responsible for Ramsey and Dante Fowler leaving the Jags.

This is great, really comprehensive of the past 3 years. If you look at Jaguars history, since divisional realignment, they tend to struggle heavily against the NFC West teams. In 2017, despite all the success, they went 1-3 vs the division with the win at home over the Seahawks being the high point of the regular season. In Week 1 of 2018 they beat the Giants on the road, then the Patriots in Jacksonville to start the season 2-0. Afterwards, Bortles basically imploded without a running game, as you said. But since that point, the Jags haven't won a game vs the NFC (0-7). In 2020 they're matched up against a formidible NFC North, so I agree I don't think things are going to change for them.

No matter how good we get, I will always watch this video to teach me that I don’t want to live like that anymore!!

Awesome video!
Just an idea but could you do a video on the Saints last 3 playoff runs since they are bringing back the same team and have maybe 2 more shots at a superbowl for the immediate future.
Sincerely, a Saints fan

I’m a big fan of your vids but this one hit home as a Jags fan. That 2017 season was so special, now it’s just pain
This is well done. As a jaguars diehard, I expected inaccuracies and a lack of insight. I was wrong. Watching this makes me sad and mad all at once.
All my Jaguars fans, I love y’all

This hurts way too much as a jags fan 😭
I like how Tito and logan are just here on the sideline 0:14

this aged well with the sadness
Back then I thought Jacksonville would win it all.
From 10-6 Best defense to 1-15 Sucksonville!!!
This is what the 2018-19 Bears remind me of. Elite defense, mediocre qb
i dont even know if you could call Trubiski mediocre hes pretty tterrible
Bra thank you I needed this🙏🏿
Love how you but SML in there🤣

I don’t think you realize how fast this team can get back on track with the draft Minshew should’ve one ROY
They had a solid draft. They have the pieces to be solid on defense and the offense will be fine. They can compete for a wild card.
@@fantasypricecheck1937 this aged horrible
When your so early UA-cam say 9 likes and no views. Great vid👍
At the beginning of the year, being the Eagles fan that I was, I said to my father "The Eagles will go all the way this year". Turned out, I was correct. But that wasn't the only thing I was right on. I said "the Jaguars will go to the Playoffs and at least win Divisional". My dad looked at me like I was stupid, but months later he was shocked.
I have been a Jags fan for about my whole life I went through the pain of Blaine Gabbert, Blake Bortles and every quarterback in between. When we made the run to the AFC championship game I felt that we would be a powerhouse for years and years to come. Even though it didn’t pan out that way I will never forget how that team impacted our franchise and that city. DUVAAAALLL!!!
DUVALLLLLL
They killed the 2017 Sacksonville defense, this is even worse than Arizona wasting Larry Fitzgerald's career
MR. Bucket At least he got to a super bowl 🤷♂️

@@NicholasD but no rings.
@@kingmo8789 Not Larry's fault.
Now Fitz has himself a young twin brother😂😂😂😂😂
Blake Bortles has played in more Conference Championship games than any Cowboys team in the last 24 years. Think about that.
Bortles also has more playoff wins than Dak, so that little fact might make your day.
I never bought into the hype, I knew Jacksonville was going to revert back to mediocrity after that year
It was the front office that destroyed them lmao
They had a legit team but they just keep making bad decisions, really unfortunate
Azure Kite Yea but they are like the Browns they also find a way to mess things up 🤣
Azure Kite I agree - they could’ve drafted Lamar Jackson instead of Taven Bryan for example. That’s just a glaring example of how the Jags front office doesn’t know what it’s doing.
Gatien Laurol literally everyone could have drafted Lamar Jackson, it wasn’t just us. Plus we didn’t feel like we needed a quarterback at the time
I’m so happy this video finally came out

Ok that transition was dope
This will change in April 2021 when they draft Trevor Lawrence.
sean vogt He doesn’t have to sign with them, Trevor may be a bust, and even if things do change, it won’t be immediately.
Urban Meyer and Trevor Lawrence did great in college ball. But the NFL is hands down a different game. Will they really do as good as some people say, or will their NFL careers be Not For Long?
It's sad to say for all the fans in Jacksonville, but they'll be the London Jaguars within the next 10 years i'd bet.
Youd lose that bet. Lot J project will be starting shortly all but guaranteeing Jags stay in Jacksonville. The Lot J project is part of a multi billion dollar project outside of the stadium.
Khan is using London to help fund these projects and stadium improvements.
Well we dont want to become the London Jags. And that coming from a EU Jags fan
@@Silva50505 exactly. Fans over in London (from what I've seen and hear) dont want the team to move. Takes away from the tradition that started their fandom. That and any team based in London would have a huge disadvantage especially if they made the play offs and have to travel to west coast teams in the US.
@@Jaxboy86 we have heard this for how long now bud? "Jags are going to move to L.A." but now L.A. has two teams and since we play in London and are the fan favorite there these idiots say "London Jaguars...lol".

@@CH4D55 Anyway it goes, the Jags is going to have another losing season.
Does anyone notice the Jags owner looks like Dr. Robotnic ?
The end was coming, that elite defense was never ever doing to carry a below average QB for much longer. Front office imploded and it blew up in front of their face.

Great and appreciated video from a Jags fan!
"Collapse"? In order to collapse one must first ascend to a certain height or prosper for a period of time. The jags never won anything. Granted, they gave Brady a run for his money in the afc title game but that was one good year.
Other than that their most iconic year is when they upset my Broncos in the 96' divisional round. That loss is right there with the 12' divisional round loss to Baltimore as far a non super bowl playoff pain for us here in Denver.
