Hello in this episode we discuss the new Alpha India Group AI manager addon for Microsoft flight simulator 2020. If you are wanting live traffic then this is the mod for you! This is a full tutorial on how to download and install this very complex addon for the sim. This install will take you at minimum 1hour and most likely several hours depending on internet speed. I go through every step slowly in detail so that you wont miss anything it is also very important that you follow the instructions perfectly and don't skip ahead . Near the end of the video we go over the settings inside on MSFS2020 so that you get the most out of the addon . Any questions please leave them below and please like and subscribe to the channel.

This program is NOT intuitive in the least. Info on proper installation is scarce, and what is available is not explained well.
This is the most complete and concise explanation of how to install this addon that I have found.

Interesting to note on the AIG forum login page, this day in June 2022, it states: Online: 2 Guests, 7 Users - Most Online Today: 27 - Most Online Ever: 360 (November 16, 2021, 06:53:44 PM),
which is the same date this video was posted. Looks like 2020 fs'ers pointed a lot of people to their site that day!

thank you so much for such a thorough explanation it is amazing of you to take the time to make it very clear how to install it.
I have a couple of questions:
1) AIG traffic manager shows me an error that starts with "your OCI installation is located in a directory that will come close to the maximum path length of 255 characters. To make sure AIM runs without issues it is suggested to move the oci package somewhere else." (for reference I put the two folders from AIG in the D drive)
2) second thing is it is loading easy jet aircraft in Jeddah airport and Dubai airport and easy jet does not fly there.

Thanks for the comment . So in the aig manager in the setup I think there is an option to move the oci folder .. click that and tell it where the file is now so I can work properly. Second for using the traffic manager make sure your ground airtraffic is off in the sim and use generic models is set to off and ultra .
This AIG addon is a complete game changer. Asobo/MS need to buy them up immediately and incorporate. Excellent tutorials btw!

With all the realistic liveries and the traffic just watching my base airport (LEBL/Barcelona/payware) with the drone is a pure pleasure. If this addon could make its way into the marketplace for a realistic price, it will def. top all sales figures.

Hey thanks for that comment I really appreciate it. So no you must use the oci to download as these are downloaded direct from developers and creators so there is no copyright infringement.
This is a very complex program and they need to work together to operate properly .
When I try to install airline liveries by using the install through the oci I'm getting a error message that says activate AIGAIM-OCI using setting; Is there a way to fix this?

Great tutorial. But when I get into the Sim and inject the AI Traffic the Traffic Controller is crashing at a certain time. In most cases after 30 minutes more or less. I have 157 Airlines installed and it seems to work without any problems but when I start to fly and get closer to other big airports the Traffic Controller crashes. Any solutions?

This is a fantastic tutorial. Thank you for taking the time to put it together. I've run through it twice and still have the same issue- when I attempt to download an airline through the OIC, nothing happens. It just sits on the "Please wait while the files are being installed" window. Any ideas? I assume it grabs them from the AIG and AvSim website? I'm logged into both.
Yea it's supposed to even if you don't log in it would put you to a website . Make sure any firewall is off and any anti-virus maybe that's it
Same here. Have deleted app and reinstalled, followed instructions carefully. Can't download 99% of the liveries, it just kicks me back to the previous screen when I click install button. Turned off antivirus and firewall, no dice. Also, the 255 character error pops up about 20 times on every start. Software not ready for prime time, I'll check back when later version released. Thanks.
Yes some people are having this issue and other are not is so crazy.
@@jimst.4328 Same issue for days now. Installed and reinstalled over 10 times, tried different paths etc. Some of us just got screwed I guess :( can only hope they release an update for this since so many people are having the same issue
@@camhackett44 I did finally get it to work. It took several tries, but once I got the OCI folder moved to a place with shorter path(less than 255 characters) it worked. Good luck.

@@2020fsers just out of interest, does the download option in the liveries section allow you to use that livery for the planes in the sim itself?
No unfortunately you can't use these liveries for your personal planes as far as I know if you experiment some and find that you can please let me know . 😀

A good tip for people who want to choose all the airline in AI manager and then just have AI manager download them all instead of having to click install on each one. Select each airline you want to download by left clicking on the first airline and scrolling thru the list and ctrl left clicking on any in the list you wish to add, then click the OCI-Bulk button down in the left hand corner of the screen. I suggest also checking off the box that says skip manual download this will prevent any of the manual downloads websites warnings which will stop your bulk downloads, this will allow you to walk away from your computer and let it download all the liveries and planes you want without your intervention.

Fantastic video well constructed and informative. Not fully completed it yet. As I’m not tested it out in the sim itself but I have to say you’ve done an amazing job of making this minefield of an application far far easier to install. I had done ‘some’ research on AIG and after downloading the 2 files and attempting to read and understand the install process all I could do was scratch my already bald head and think oh 💩 😂

I would never have worked that out for myself - you produce absolutely outstanding tutorials. I downloaded all of this today and spent hours following your advice. To my total amazement, it all works! (I am far from being a computer genius). You probably know that there are a number of changes to the software since your tutorial and some of the steps have changed. None of them need pose difficulties as the 'buttons to press' are pretty much intuitive if your tutorial is being followed. Again, Good Sir, outstanding. And thank you.

Ok so that was an awesome tutorial thankyou so much, everything now works, and in Vatsim using the SWIFT client all i had to adjust was the model directories to accommodate the AIG folder in my Community folder.... :)

So if I understand your super tutorial correctly, it's also possible to only install the AIG AI manager without the AIG traffic controller and install it later. The result of the fist is liveries on planes and live traffic with liveries for the latter.
Yes correct I don't use the traffic controller .. to much of an fps hit .

Question....when these AI planes are installed, does ATC call them by callsign or airline name??? Also can you install cargo flights too and I assume if ATC calls the pax's by callsign, they will call cargo flight the same way...BTW...AWESOME tutorial! VERY easy to understand!!!

I'm hoping it's an AIG issue, but the downloads are agonizingly slow. Had to stop Delta after at least an hour of watching. They have had server issues the last couple of days. Maybe you could confirm this. Your presentation is top rate.

I'm certain this is a helpful tutorial, but I wonder whether we have different definitions of "Live Traffic". For me, "Live Traffic" is the AI traffic MFS gets from flightradar24, actual "real time" traffic representing aircraft which are airborne IRL. It seems what you call "Live Traffic" is the traffic injected by the AIG tools which is based on airline schedules - and since the schedules in use are from pre-Covid times (have a look at the "Season" column in the airline list, I see schedules ranging from Winter 2018 to Summer 2020), they certainly don't represent air traffic in 2021, so I'm having a hard time understanding why you would consider them "live".
If you don't like the words "live traffic" then you must talk to alpha India Group and let them know your feelings as it states right on their website www.alpha-india.net/2021/11/19/400/. I am only bringing what they have to the community I am not the developer or creator of the application. Thanks for the comment
@@2020fsers I think that post is just talking about a workaround for the "aircraft spawns without nose gear and is stuck at the gate" bug that affects MFS Real Time AI traffic currently. You wouldn't benefit from that workaround since you disabled Real Time AI traffic in MFS.
I feel this confirms that my understanding of the meaning of "live traffic" is correct.
In the "State of AI Traffic" post, they have a heading "Live Traffic (Online AI Traffic - Default MSFS)". So far I have not seen mention of the "schedule based" traffic the AIG tools inject into the sim as "live traffic".
No need to get so defensive, though. You should welcome people pointing out mistakes so you can correct them or at least avoid them in the future. The video is still valuable, watching it helped me circumvent several issues I would've run into.
I hear what you are saying and im sorry if i came across in the wrong way but i was simply stating that i was taking the words from them and i was not making up the term to use. Maybe misleading for them to use the term 'live traffic' in their literature if they don't actually provide live traffic but only live traffic flight plans. For now this is as close to live traffic as we have. And for sim purposes this is probably the best way as many people change the times of day (at least i do)when they enter the sim and the traffic controller can inject the traffic for that time and not the current time in real life. I always welcome suggestions as i always strive to better myself and the videos produced but in this case i hope you can also understand my side that the wording used on their end can be misleading and there is not much documentation on this which leads me to why i created the video to help others to be able to access this amazing application that adds much needed life to the sim and i dont think that many people are getting hung up on terminology as they just want to be able to use this fantastic piece of kit, that is what i am striving to bring to the community due to the lack of installation videos as well as problem solving issues like the error message. I am just trying to help out other simmers get what they want. Sometimes we have to not sweat the petty stuff but i understand what you are saying.

Hi ! Great, great tutorial. I do have two quick question though if you are able to answer.
1) How does the in game ATC interact with AIG Trafic Controller, and how is it best to use it ?
2) I have real trafic disabled, its set to off. Though I at that moment I see no aircraft taxiing / takeoff, they're all at their stands and will eventually taxi their way to take off, but according to flight radars, there should be a lot of takeoff landing by that time. Any reason, best practice I should do ?
Hello thanks for the comment .1 atc will manage all.the air traffic for you. 2 aig is not perfect with the traffic controller my reccomendation is to also try fsltl that may work better for you .

“Live Traffic” is misleading in subject because it does not work in MS2020. Only AI traffic. I wish it did so I could use Vatsim; however that is not the case as mentioned. Great tutorial, nonetheless.

Some aircrafts line up and never takeoff, after some time they just disappear.
On the section where you go to Settings and Updates, that is no longer in the app itself, where else can I find it?

I installed a couple of airlines, took over 2 hours, the installation is laborious over slow internet connection....it would be awesome if the 'skip manual download' worked 100%, then you could install, walk away and come back much later
Yeah I spent 4 or 5 hrs downloading . And yeah the skip button would be cool I tried it and didn't do anything the only liveries I had to manually download were a couple of deltas . But I couldn't get that on the video So I hope I explained it OK.
The AIG servers are down and currently there is no time frame for them to be back up.

Tutorial is great, but as I opened the application it asked for the FS version. I clicked the drop-down menu and it was empty and I could not continue the download. How can I fix this?
Hello thanks for the comment. I'm not sure exactly how to solve this issue but check the comments others have had the same problem and maybe 1 of them have come to a solution for this issue. Or maybe check the aig forum possibly have a solution for the issue if so.many users are having this .
I’ve been trying to do this for a few months now, but everytime i reinstall and start over its still the same problem… “Select FS” version. The drop down menu next to it doesn’t show any options and if you click ok next to this drop down menu the program crashes.
Open msfs first and see if that will allow you to select your version. Sorry for the late reply
@@2020fsers I found the solution, when inputting the parameter, instead of putting -MSFS2020 I only put -MSFS without the 2020 and that worked 👍

I have got AIG to work with the MSFS traffic settings set to KI (offline) and Live Traffic. But I see you disabled that. Does that have any difference in the game?
if you are not using the traffic controller then yes you can turn on live traffic in the sim and all the liveries and aircraft should be visible but if you use the traffic controller and inject the traffic then you want the ai and live traffic off in the sim

The tutorial was great and all of it worked fine the first time i used it yesterday. Today i tired to use it and after starting MSFS i set the weather and loaded into an airport there were no planes on the ground except me. I then started AI traffic manager and the program starts to load and after about 1 minute it just shuts off.

Great video tutorial! Thank you! I noticed you had all the airport life settings at 100, is that necessary? I had read some posts saying to set the ground aircraft to 0. Just confused on what’s the best way. I also noticed that if I don’t have the ground vehicles high enough a lot of the support equipment not just vehicles don’t load in. Thanks again! @@2020fsers thanks, what would the side effect be of not using 0, if you have the AI Traffic off and using AIG TC? Does it just fill in extra spaces over and above what AIG TC is injecting ?

It can be but can also be due to covid the schedules we're different or are different.

@@2020fsers So my takeaway from this is that "Live Traffic" is not exactly accurate. The traffic we see is actually what should be flying based on the sim time during the Summer 2021 schedule. Much like the old Ultimate Traffic program did years ago. Is anyone else seeing traffic that agrees with what you see on FlightAware/FlightRadar24?
You are correct they provide live traffic flight plans so the real traffic may not match exactly but that's also the reason you can change the time in the time and get the traffic for whatever time you set. So it's a give and take

followed all your steps and works perfect thank you so much..But when i load in sim and open live traffic the traffic is already installed for me and when i exit live traffic all the planes are still there for me is that something new?
thanks for the comment . Im not sure about that . if you click stop traffic and still have traffic maybe your msfs traffic settings are not turned off. thats the only thing i can suggest .
Why is it so hard to find American made tutorials on UA-cam. Every time I search, I get tons of videos in Spanish, from the UK, from India, etc... UA-cam algorithm suck. They try to block American made content.

I thought for a moment Live traffic meant real time live traffic pulled through FR24 or something. It's just the flight plans installed by AIG. Nice performance, though, what are your settings
I don't really use it . I get too much fps hit with the traffic controller but I do have all the liveries installed Soni use live traffic on msfs and now all my liveries and aircraft populate for the live traffic
@@2020fsers I was going to ask you, because I also get the heaviest performance hit from using Traffic Controller. I am yet to understand how there are so many smooth videos posted online with AIG... thanks for the advice, didn't know Live Traffic from FS would then automatically use the liveries from AIG
Yes it will as well as your multi-player aircraft . Make sure in the traffic menu in msfs you turn generic traffic to off and ultra on the one below it .
Hello, first off..VERY good video, secondly, for some reason my map on the aig controller does not pick up where i am...and i also tried adding the live traffic following all your steps and i only see the planes parked at gate and have no other planes in the sky
Ok so make sure the directory in the traffic controller is pointing to the correct folder I messed that up on the 1st time and got the same . And make sure you hit inject traffic on the traffic controller
And make sure center over user is tricked

Thanks for the comment . Yes it does take quite a while remember it's downloading aircraft type as well as liveries and flight plans so depending on internet can take some time took me 8 hrs and I still don't have all that I want downloaded. 😀
When I download and open AI Manager and go to settings, there is NO update tab at the top and nowhere to log into AIG Forum. Any suggestions, I'm stuck :(

I've tried many "experts" in regards to getting AIG to install and you're the only one to do it slowly and in a manner which I can follow. My problem is that even though i have the both the controller and manager on my desktop, I cannot get the controller line into the AIGTC directory. I'm stuck here.
why is that ? you just select the controller directory in the aig manager. what happens when you select the directory?

One problem I have. I can see moving planes on the map but no traffic movement at airports only moving vehicles. The airports are well populated. Tried various ones with the same result. All liveries and the correct time is displayed. Any suggestions ? All settings are as in your great tutorial.
Ok so it works at some airports so it is not a problem with the application. Some airports there is just nothing going on. Weird.

It does but there are some other steps like wrm file or something like that. Not sure all the vatsim guys tell me this.

So does this injects "live traffic" or is it just "ai traffic" ? I'm confused, because everyone on forums is saying that it's AI traffic only. And I don't see anywhere on the AIG Traffic Controler saying "live traffic" ...and there is also an option for "activity level" which makes sense for "AI Traffic". Does it not work with the MSFS live traffic??? I saw Easyjetsimpilot using this with the MSFS live traffic and apparenly it was working for him... so do I need AIG Traffic Controler if I want to use it with the MSFS live traffic?
Ok so this aig traffic controller injects live traffic routes and correct liveries and aircraft. You do not need to use the traffic controller you can turn on msfs live traffic and it will still use the liveries downloaded.
Saw a few parked airliners near a taxi way floating I would guess 30-50 ft off the ground 🤔

Before starting this tutorial, I suggest creating your login to the AIG website first. Reason why, is that you have to wait for approval from the AIG website admin before you can continue.
