Glad I could help you. That would bother me too. I just had some bodywork done and there was over spray on my wheels and other areas. They did a terrible job with the prep work to say the least.

@@Corysdiyauto well sorry but I do feel comforted that I'm not the only one haha.
Can't really complain about the job my guy did tho as he only asked for $700 (EU, Ro).
But man...the damn OVERSPRAY lol, it was everywhere! Spent ages cleaning it up.
One thing he really screwed up was having bugs in his booth apparently. 2 got on my driver door and 1 on the hood and the paint chipped. I'm glad he said he'd fix it "with some polishing".
Gonna be awkward looking him dead in the eye and saying "I know you're trying to fool me, but here's money for fixing what you screwed up, and do it properly please", but I gotta do it.
For $700 I'm happy as fuck tho. Hope you didn't pay too much yourself.

@rarespetrusamartean5433 - Thanks for sharing. I had rust repair done on the rockers on both sides, plus the hood was redone. I had the hatch replaced too, so my bill was over $3000. It's a lot, I know.

Both cars I've done had a metal piece between the roof and the headliner, which covers the wire and makes this method impossible. On the first one, I replaced the entire headliner so I had room to deal with the metal piece. Doing the 2md one now.

What model year are the cars? I'm looking to do this on an R32 (2008). Hoping its a simple task 🙄

Its possible. Use a stubby Phillips screw driver and take out the screws. They have access holes where the black screws are located. Then use a screw driver to pry down the metal piece, from that gap that is created you can disconnect the wires and you're good. I know you already are done with this project but this is for anyone is going to change the antenna and has to deal with the metal in the way too.

@@deaosatori216 - Good job! You don't want to go super tight with it because you'll smash the seal too much.

It took me awhile to remember, haha.

Only use a genuine OE antenna base. They cost much more than the cheap ones, but the reception is better and you won't have to replace it again in a few months.

@@stitcha123 I used a 22mm open-end wrench, but a shallow socket will work. Not much space in there.
