Tang Stew looks like a one piece fiberglass or carbon job, maybe he just prefered it or it was more readily available, hell maybe a combination of all these. If it was a series 1 exige i am willing to bet the vxr front end has better aero
Everyone here is wondering where it went, and here's what happened: mere seconds after the owner turned the key and unleashed its fiery brilliance, he decided to do a 0 to 60 run as fast as it possibly could go. Regrettably for all of us who remain stuck in this universe of laws and speed limits, this car reached such a level of peak accelerative prowess that the confines of our humble plain of existence could no longer allow such a superior entity to continue here, and in a blinding flash of light it forever disappeared into the highest plain of being where it will continue to speed beyond the end of time itself.
look like someone wanted a mclaren F1 so bad he decided to build it's own in a shed ;) super clean build, would love to see how this baby is going :P i bet it must melt your face off :P
Absolutely Amazing, I was transfixed by this video. The level of engineering perfection and detail is astounding. Great Job, would love to see a video of it running...
This project had many problems with continually ripping out the Half Shafts, due to shaft angles on certain loads points v thrust angle [maybe gearbox sits to hight ?] etc and the original owner then sold it on, so not sure if those issues were resolved ?.
Do you think somebody could fit in a v6 the right way without gutting the firewall? I would never be able to get that road legal in germany at that point.
When will people making these type of slideshows realise that people are interested in seeing movement, especially with car videos. A series of random photos isn't exactly interesting to anyone except maybe the person who made the video. Show the damn car being DRIVEN! It looks like a cool project.
As far as I know, this car was sold before completion because the original owner was breaking driveshafts repeatedly even when cruising lightly. Then I've never heard of it anymore...
And you wouldn't have to cut the subframe or the channel over the fuel tank, both of which are major structural members in an Elise. I'm all for crazy projects like this, but weakening the chassis like this IMHO is a seriously bad move.
I wouldn't think notching the top of the tank is likely to seriously compromise the car's structural integrity. And as long as the added drivetrain structure is strong enough and effectively tied to the chassis, it should be adequate. If not, it will quickly become evident, at which time he can address any weaknesses he finds. I'm assuming the builder will be scrutinizing the chassis very closely on its first few runs, and won't go full-bore right off the bat. As for crash survivability, I suspect that's more a function of the preparation of the passenger compartment and roll cage, and not with the mods to the rear chassis. I would be most concerned about the modded chassis being able to keep that engine out of the passenger compartment in a crash.
There is a shear panel below the fuel tank which forms a closed box around the fuel tank. On the shear panel there is a big sticker saying "Do not use the vehicle without this panel in place" By cutting the big chunk out of the side of the "box" , you effectively destroy a large part of the chassis's integrity. But that's OK with me because I don't have to drive it. I'll stick with my Honda engine and unmodified chassis, thanks.
Impressed that the person who did this managed without extending the body shell... less impressed with the look he(/she) went for. What was wrong with the original Exige?
that air-intake looks good but it's not the proper set up for a race car,got to suck the air where it is the colder,I had an idea to 'box'the air filter and blow a powerful AC set up in it,with a secondary battery and alternator,I did this(on demand) on my Volvo V70 R project, did not know that the Camaro Demon had exactly that on their special model.....!!!!
how much would it cost for you to do that to my lotus? I am completly serious, how much would it be? Im sorry for my bad "spelling" im from norway... Hit me up please :) !!!!!
That Speedster (VX220) front is so damn ugly...oh, and that thing isn't working, it had a lof of trouble with the drive shafts...so, I think we'll never see any videos of it in action.
Well someow looking godd is not the point of this car, and it never was, this build is about doing the best job a standalone guy without a proper profesional shop can do on its own. if you want to drive a nice looking car, go drive some fanboy supercar, but i promise you it wont stand a chance against this on track... i know what i would wanna drive
All that and you couldn't put in a little video of it running 🤦🤦🤦
So glad I checked the comments to see where the sound clip is. 12 mins 32 secs of just pictures 🤦🏽♂️
One of the sharpest Lotus’ I’ve seen, very classy without going over the top. Good taste, good job on the build and good content as well.
Looks good but im a little sketched out by the cutting of the bonded aluminum frame
Great !! work Wow ! more please
This is out of this world.
Who did this?
Why would you use Opel/vauxhall speedster headlights on a lotus exige ?
Tang Stew cheaper to replace front end when its stacked at a guess
Tim Bonfield when putting a Ferrari engine into a build project you are not really concerned with the price of headlights i would believe
Either that or better aero?
gianni superspeed yeah exactly it is quite square
Tang Stew looks like a one piece fiberglass or carbon job, maybe he just prefered it or it was more readily available, hell maybe a combination of all these. If it was a series 1 exige i am willing to bet the vxr front end has better aero
Outstanding work. I'm impressed. Very inspiring. You sir have talent.
You are crazy,
But the good kinda crazy.
Totally awesome!!! What all car enthusiasts wish they could do. Fabrication and ingenuity equals creativity. Amazing.
where I can ear that baby scream ?
yeah where is the good bit? We what to hear that ferrari engine, not that shity b-pop music.
That thing gotta be sofa king fast . I agree with you two . Let's see it go . That bitch gotta scream .

He cut into the main rear crossmember!! Even Hennessey didn't do that.
Colin & Enzo just high fived
This project screams perfection.
look like someone wanted a mclaren F1 so bad he decided to build it's own in a shed ;)
super clean build, would love to see how this baby is going :P i bet it must melt your face off :P
WTFFFF IS THAT SKINNY TIRE AT THE END???
Absolutely Amazing, I was transfixed by this video. The level of engineering perfection and detail is astounding. Great Job, would love to see a video of it running...
Superbe craftmanship! Well done...
awesome build but changing timing belt will be an engine out job everytime? hmmm
Badass! .. Looks beautiful... Great work!
Wouldve been nice to hear and watch it go...looks badass though
Beautifull madness, bye the way, do you need a driver?
OMG that looks awesome!!! Great Work!!!
Think i see on sale on ebay a while back? Would love to see it go
11:26 Aaw look at dat face, that's the happiest Lotus (Fotus? Feratus? ) I ever did see XD
sgtgrash iirc thats an opel gt front end
Lopelarri
Nice project. Speedster lights look like arse tho imho
Amazing work!
it looks happy
Wish it had some wider rear tires. That would really make it awesome
That thing looks amazing! Does the finished car have a VX220 front clam?
This project had many problems with continually ripping out the Half Shafts, due to shaft angles on certain loads points v thrust angle [maybe gearbox sits to hight ?] etc and the original owner then sold it on, so not sure if those issues were resolved ?.
nice opel front btw
Do you think somebody could fit in a v6 the right way without gutting the firewall? I would never be able to get that road legal in germany at that point.
Sound a good combination, but, it´ll be neither the best nor the fastest
Nice ride
What! No glove box, screw that shit man:-)
Impressive
Great job. Now get a safer seat in there.
it will look nice.........when its finished
Ferrari 355 engine has serious maintenance issues. Horrendously expensive to maintain.
04dram04 lsx
Good thing he knows how to RIP one apart and put it back
Incredible.... ❤️
Why is it labelled Exige when the body work is based on a Speedster? 🤔
nice
Is there more details on this build?
It's Elirari!!!

Nice
Honda K24 with a supercharger would have been easier, lighter, handle better, more reliable, and probably faster.
And you wouldn't have to cut the subframe or the channel over the fuel tank, both of which are major structural members in an Elise. I'm all for crazy projects like this, but weakening the chassis like this IMHO is a seriously bad move.
But this is much more impressive, and I bet it sounds far better.

love it
I’m just wondering why the super unreliable 355 and not a somewhat more reliable like a 360 or 430
So basically put a less reliqble Engine
How fast is it????
Wie hoch sind die Kosten für einen solchen Umbau? Viel Respekt und Bewunderung von mir 👍
Would have been cheaper and better to just leave it in the F355!
And then it caught fire
how much would it cost for you to do that to my lotus? I am completly serious, how much would it be? Im sorry for my bad "spelling" im from norway...
Hit me up please :) !!!!!
Bet that goes like sh#t off a stick!...video of it in action please!
even swap Huracan Lp-610
when u have a modifiable windows desktop and suddenly want to put in an apple OS instead of other windows compatible parts.
Ek Seng Ng that is called a hackintosh. Loads of people do that.
But as difficult as a Hackintosh is, this is at least an order of magnitude harder and about 3 orders of magnitude more expensive.
This isn’t an exile anymore
Gated-shifters bolted to a flat-plane crank engine fucking rule.......
whattt !!!!!!!!
Worst motor swap you could of pick and its still slow 🐌
no actually birth my children this is insane
OPEL!!
No Italian audio... what the fuhhhh
I dont get it. It would be cheaper to just buy a 355. Essentially the same thing. Except it is a Ferrari.
04dram04 Sometimes it's good to create something different
Holy shit slideshow of pictures it's fucking 2018
sorry,Dodge Demon....!!!

All this and it doesn’t even run.
I would love to drive it, but it sure is ugly.

I guess you only read half of my comment.
Its beauty is on the inside, and that's enough for me.
slow clap, john
Tanto lavoro per niente, con quelle gomme non và da nessuna parte. Mah !! tempo e soldi buttati, un bel esercizio costruttivo ma niente di più.
Phwoooor
#thesmokingtire
355 engine is unreliable would of kept it stock
