Great. Whenever i saw in videos at SantaPod and heard K series i thought it was the Honda one. Never would i have guessed it still has the Rover engine.
in the end i stopped using a thermostat all together, found i had much better control of temperatures on it, keeping the head cool was crucial to avoid fire ring indentation
Remember seeing this in it's full time attack set up parked in a side street in bucknall when doing a job for his neighbour. Also bumped into him in machine mart once. Epic build.
Love watching this crazy thing wheelie at pod Massive respect to the owner for building such a weapon Beats the usual fart box golf r,s and chipped up pop.pop bang bang beamers and audis etc So bloody cool
Pretty sure I used to read about this car / follow a readers ride thread on piston heads forum. The aero the guy made was crazy! And the owner was very very knowledgeable in regards to the aero stuff when it was in that mode before going total drag / roll race car.
I have a friend who has a elise and it's 920hp BUT it's powered by a honda K not a rover K. It's not easy to get one of these to high hp numbers so respect for that.
I started building an exige in 2007 that was running full evo5 running gear, drive system and engine.. never got it finished... one that got away sadly.
@ketovoreking5440 at the time I was taking on more staff, I'd caged the shell and was ready to put drive train in. A customer came in wanting alot of all my evo gear, so I tossed a coin and ended up selling all the parts and bits for the build to help my expansion and employ more staff, shortly after another long term customer purchased the shell. I always hoped todo again, but never got round to it sadly. I believed my best move was to expand the business. In the end that was not a good decision. But such is life. I've had plenty of other unique builds far and wide for customers and myself. One of those decision in life you look back on and think what way life would have went if you choose your other option .
The k series was a great engine it's the head gaskets / cooling system that let it down, rover cutting costs on what could of been at the time best engines in class
First it was Hennessy stretching it out and dropping a big American V8 into it. Then Elon Musk turns it into an electric sports car. Now this guy turns into a bunkers insane drag car. This platform is very well engineered and adaptable. Very cool
Have you come across or met the bloke with the 1000+ bhp aerial atom k20 (may be k24) engined? Worth contacting if you can, that thing was a monster as the last JM imports race wars style day.
Make sure it’s a dry day, your on a straight concrete road and don’t go full throttle in the first 3 gears normally. The rear wing is really long with high end plates on purpose so that when I does spin the tyres(which is has done in 5th before) the car tracks straight
I would have put a lot of money on this car being a K swap. Wow, K series is a great engine design, similar I believe to bike engines. Much maligned. Very light and can make good power. Qudos to the builder.
Thanks, the empty block only weighs 12.5kg so does help keep the weight down. Most people are shocked when they look in the engine bay and don’t see a Honda

Totally agree Mike , also the mg6 k series is bullet proof in my opinion having used it on many a transplant
