Long time annual pass holder here and I approve of this message!! 😅 We’re always skeptical of Disney tip videos because not all are super helpful, but this was so great!! Will share this video with friends who come our way as they often ask us for advice!
Another good tip is to visit the Disney outlet store in Florida by Disney Springs! We got so many cool souvenirs for super cheap! We got a large stuffed Mickey for $5!
I live by Orlando. There are several Disney outlet stores at the local malls. The stores have everything that you have in the parks, including the ears, for a fraction of the cost.
Great video. FYI. World of Disney doesn’t have all the same items as all the gift shops in the parks. Also some limited items. Once they sell out in that park store. That’s it. None left for the end of the day. My daughter lost a bag cuz she wanted to wait yo make sure. On our way back past the store they had already completely sold out and weren’t sold anywhere else in Disney. Sucks. But if you want it. Make sure you get it!
Great tips for Disney World. The vacation rental is by far the most genius thing to do, and you saved a ton of money on meals in the long run. Another good time to go to the Disney parks is right after Thanksgiving (I did that several years ago at Disneyland, and it wasn't as crowded as it would normally be). Keep it up Jordan!!!
We got back last night from a trip that included several days at Disney. Some great tips here! We do the picture thing all year round, and it works well. We’ve not been able to find things later, though and have had super sad kids because of it (temporarily). Niche items like Avatar toys are not at World of Disney. If it’s something you see in more than one shop, you’ll likely be able to find it at World of Disney. If it’s unique to a shop, it won’t be at WOD. And that’s especially true in Epcot. Most of the country pavilion merchandise is only in that country. Same goes for festival merch.
Great tips, especially the popcorn treat. Disneyland trip is definitely expensive and requires a lot of planning . There are other options in LA. For older teenagers who love exciting rides, they can go to six flags. For younger teens or kids, knott’s berry farm can be an option. I live in LA, my advice is don’t turn off the toll road on google map because we have the worst traffic problem in the whole nation. People pay so much to come here for Disneyland with limited time. It won’t be fun if the whole family is stuck in traffic for an hour just because you try to avoid a couple of dollars of toll. You can leave the toll option on and weigh in the balance of time and money.
Thank you for your help. We live in Florida about 7 years. We haven’t been to Disney World because it’s so expensive but I think we can get to go with all you great savings advice.
Glad you clarified that you can't do Disney on the cheap. And I fully agree with you about being intentional. We took our family of 5 for 2 weeks and the cost was barely more than a family of 4 would spend for a weekend at an on-site hotel. It was soooo worth it for us and a great memory.
We did February of 2022 to Disney world the week of presidents day. They said it was the busiest week since covid had started plus it was super hot. We did have fun but there was no riding rides twice even with genie plus.
We also found that a lot of "savings" happened by preparing our kids ahead of time. We talked about how much this trip was costing us, how we might need to split larger meals, that we were bringing fun Disney items with us vs. buying them in the park, that we weren't buying treats constantly (we ate so much popcorn!), etc. Our kids are middle and upper elementary and they knew about the trip for a year and a half before we went (they knew we were saving to go), so they knew how long we'd worked to save and really got on board with ways to save money in the park. We did allow them some souvenir money and we ate dinner in the parks or at our resort each night. We ate breakfast in our hotel room and packed a lunch each day. It was a VERY expensive trip, but I'm glad we did it once. I don't know if we'll ever go back due to the cost, but I'm glad they could experience Disney.
PERFECT TIMING! we're going at the end of the month and with the park prices SO H$GH I was going to spend some time re-figuring the budget and how we were going to manage our bucks 💜
We saved the souvenir for the end of our trip too. Can you please make a tutorial video on your makeup and skincare. I’m 37 and need it so bad. Your eyelashes are so beautiful and your makeup is just so gorgeous. Rest days is a really helpful idea too thanks for this video! ❤
U missed a major one.... Target Costco Sam's etc will have disney gift cards on sale from time to time. Usually a 500 card at 475... U can purchase them when they go on sale and then use them to pay for whatever at Disney. Some people pay for their room in gift cards.
Adults can order kid meals at the quick service locations. They average half price compared to an adult meal. Also, do not buy the expensive bottled water in the parks. You can walk up to most quick service locations and get a free cup of water😊👍
You missed a huge point Jordan! Standby Skipper will arrange all of your Genie+ for you (based on your preference) so you're not staring at your phone all day and you can be present with your kids/family.
This are all perfect tips!!! Been to different disney locations worldwide and I ALWAYS bring my own disney ears, shirt, and snacks! Except in Hongkong where I got a food voucher for lunch, dinner and an icecream. Saved 20 bucks lol 😆 Haven’t travelled with kids tho so i’m curious how will that change my experience someday! 🥰
Thank you so much for the great savings tips, Jordan! I’ve never been and I have a little guy who would love it there, so with this advice, I feel it’s actually do-able!
I love Disney and Universal! We've made same magical memories there! Great tips! We did invest on staying on site for the kids first trip. We got a suite at Arts of Animation and it added to the magic and ease of transport on that trip.
Thank you so much!!! I have to plan for Disney in early February, Your video gave me so much helpful tips. I never thought about the park day- beach day balancing.
Oh my goodness! We were at Disney world then too for my daughter’s make a wish! We are a family with 5 kids and your video came at the perfect time! We loved it so much we want to plan a trip in a year but with a large family there are ways to save money and you definitely talked about those! Thank you!! ❤❤❤
Jordan, the popcorn bucket is the BEST KEPT SECRET!! We discovered this during our last trip and it was fantastic!! Now we continue to use it as 1) our cute little souvenir 2) at travel ball games! I pack our popcorn warm from home in our cute little bucket and voila. No more $$ spent at the ball park. Genius!!
Along the vein of the glow sticks, we bought fun princess (not specifically Disney brand) bubble wands from Amazon a few years ago. Cheap cheap cheap like $12 a piece. We brought them in the park no problem. Then you pay like $1-$2 and buy bubble refills from the bubble wand stands inside the parks. And they work great. 100x better than buying a $40 bubble wand inside the park. And our kids loved them, they have lasted multiple trips and they keep the kids entertained as we were waiting in line, waiting for a parade or on the walk back to the hotel/car.
This is such an excellent video! I didn't know about the souvenirs/t-shirts/glow sticks etc at the nearby Walmart/Target stores. Thank you for sharing!
If you have young children, buy Disney merchandise before you go, from cheap shops, Target etc and make them up a show bag. They can wear their Disney shirt, Disney back pack, Disney ear headband, drink from their Disney water bottle, take their Disney umbrella and sweat shirt, eat their Disney snacks from their Disney lunchbox etc for a fraction of the cost of buying these things at Disney.
We went to Disneyland last summer (2022). Our plan was to get all of our souvenirs on our last day in the park. That way we were not taking a bunch of stuff on the rides and having to carry it around the park. Our hotel was across the street so we were able to take our item back to our hotel before watching the final parade. Made everything so much easier.
Wooo! Great video, planning for trip that’s several months out. You’ve pretty much summed up all the things others have talked about and a few more on top of that. Definitely going to be rewatching this video a few more times as I continue to prep the trip. And yes definitely looking at this as an investment. My 6yo is going to be doing some of her own fundraising for spending money for the trip too (of course mom and dad are paying for the whole thing). But I feel like the planning and the anticipation is part of the experience ❤
EXACTLY what we do- snap pics of each "I want" with price....BUT beware that not EVERYTHING is available at World of Disney. We have had the tragedy of not finding it later...and super sad kiddos.
Make sure you compare driving times with tolls! We live in Miami and there are tolls if you drive ANYWHERE! I math out if it’s worth the toll with time vs money/gas. Sometime the drive is 20 minutes with a $1.26 toll and over an hour without the toll. So for me, the toll just makes more sense. Also don’t sleep on the Disney Character Warehouse! If you can squeeze that in the day before you head to the parks, you can find things for killer deals!!
If anyone needs help booking their trip to Disney, I’m a travel agent specializing in Disney!!! I’m FREE too!!! I love Page and love her take on Disney trips! I 100% agree with everything on this video!!
Fantastic suggestions. And I am a seasoned Disney mom. WHERE do you get the energy? NO joke. To go from open to close and be energetic in between- I need a LOT of coffee to say the least.
Hey Jordan - what would your advice be on staying until close with toddlers? 11pm is well past bedtime and I don’t think they’d be able to stay awake that long.
We have 4 kids and took them to WDW almost yearly when they were growing up. Our kids were pretty good at staying up until 8 or 9 but never could have made it to 11, especially if we got up early. It's just not worth it to have exhausted kids. That's whey we went to Disney so often, there is no way you are going to be able to see and do it all on one trip.
@@Lizanneschulz Best expense cutting tip in Jordan's mind - Leave nearly half your kids at home. I saw her name on her shirt, hope the kids weren't labeled. That's one of the oldest safety tips for Disney - don't print kids names on shirts.
