This is a W. I faced the very same dilemma as you when my channel started to take off. I wasn’t sure if i wanted to go back to using social media or not but i knew that it was necessary if i wanted to start a business. At the same time i thought that it would be sacrificing my mental health. In my opinion and my personal experience, after taking so much time off of social media myself and eventually going back to it, you don’t really use the apps the same way. You’re more conscious of how you’re using it. And when you have the intention of starting a business, it just adds to later of control because you can make that switch from being a consumer to creator. You start to get a better understanding of what captured your attention and what you’re willing to let into your own mind. I would even go as far as to say that the BEST and only way you can use social media productively is if you have a business of some sort.
thank you for the insight abraham! i watched your videos a lot when i wanted to reaffirm that what i was doing was right. i remember you saying in one of your videos that you need social media to grow a personal brand/business, which also kinda got me thinking about my long-term goals (and also gave me an existential crisis hahaha). i’m not sure how you came across my video, but thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts! i’ve already started going back on social media & tbh i deleted the app a day after because i found that it was heightening my anxiety, so i’ll take into account the idea of shifting my perspective to one of a business owner’s. thank you man, your channel helps so many people :)
As a media student ,im not sure if we really need social media to grow our career or if should we go back to portfolios, websites, and blogs.im super proud of you and i just started my journey 2 weeks ago haha.you are inspiring .lets be creators not consumers
I love this video, thank you for sharing your journey! I’ve been on a path of my own to slowly get off of social media and consume more mindful content for what I’m still using❤️❤️!
After my detox, I've never thought of going back on social media so I am very interested in your journey! I like how you said social media is only bad if it becomes a master and not a servant. It made me challenge my beliefs on social media and now I know that as long as you use it mindfully it can become a tool to better your life although I won't be installing it back lol
thanks for sharing! honestly, i still have a hard time navigating my beliefs towards social media as well. i think it’s an internal issue with deeper roots 😅 why did you decide to quit?
I decided to quit after I realized how much time it was taking away from me. My screentime was 2-12 hours daily consistently,(for about 2 years!) and I couldn't get anything done without checking my phone every 10 minutes. When I got to my senior year of high school and made me realize I needed to do something with my life and I didn't want it to be me scrolling for the rest of my life. So I cut it out I've been slowly reintroducing it into my life for business purposes and decided to make the jump after your video! (thx btw!) But from what I've noticed in just a week is that it's not the same anymore. There's no spark or real reason to use it. Sure I check in on my friends sometimes or see what my favorite creators are posting. But I have no real desire to use it I had scheduled blocks of my day for me to check out my socials but I don't even use them for that because it's so pointless for me 😭 Curious to see how your journey is going :)
I quit Instagram 3 months ago, and quit Facebook 4 years ago. It’s only now that I realise that Instagram seems to be working via negatifying your image about yourself through ultra-idealistic content, leading to a depression based craving. Quitting Instagram literally lets me have 6 hours to myself every single day. Also, UA-cam is far better as a platform.
hey Nicole! tks for the video, it was so relatable! that's a true dilemma - go back to social media to improve your career or stay unplugged - what i think is that it's not certain that social media gives more career opportunities (honestly my freelance clients are mostly referenced from previous clients) but it's total certain that maintaining the use of social media while keeping a consistent sense of personal peace is very hard...
ive been thinking the same, but for me ive been doomscrolling on my phone while i wont on my pc. I also try to grow an audience so i cant completely delete everything but it helps! so maybe just use it for bussiness stuff over you laptop/pc?
I don’t consider UA-cam to be a social media platform in the same way as Instagram, TikTok and the likes. I regard it more like tv. Tv is addictive too. Be mindful to watch your time spent on it and Netflix. Reading, hobbies and interacting with real people are far more wholesome.
i do, i mentioned in my video that i’m experimenting with getting back on it but with intentionality. my dilemma was with the use of it for progressing my career in this day and age, though it’s not what i’d prefer

I think it is , it’s just not as bad as the rest🤷🏽♀️

@@nicolebasri I need to watch the video then 😅
And UA-cam is social media. It's a social media platform.
Y'all act like there is something wrong with social media when there isn't. Maybe you are the problem.
Lol
Nobody cares
I care and I hope you recover from your hatefulness
Do you not consider Instagram to be a social media platform? :) I ask because I noticed you're still active on Instagram.
i do, i mentioned in my video that i’m experimenting with getting back on it but with intentionality. my dilemma was with the use of it for progressing my career in this day and age, though it’s not what i’d prefer
