I am doing this in my motorcycle and my led bulb lights up on both sides with high beams and one side with low, is the 9 and 3 O clock preferred for that?
So when you're on low beam, one side of the bulb lights up, and when you're on high beam, both sides will light up? If so, that will not provide a good beam pattern, and that is not how an LED bulb should function. You want both sides of the bulb to light up for low and high beam. I had a question. I bought some sylvania led from oreillys auto about 3 years ago. I went to look at the light position and there was no adjustment on it. But the right side was at 8pm and 2pm and the left side was at 10pm and 4pm. Is that sufficient?
I have LEDs in my halogen Wrangler assembly and they’re pointed more toward the center now. I’ve tried to clock them and adjust to mock the halogen bulb pattern width but nothing seems to work. Would you suggest I use loaded springs around the bolts to widen the light pattern a bit?
It sounds like you’ve tried a few methods to get that beam pattern closer to the original halogen width, but if the LEDs are still pointed more toward the center, it may be due to the positioning of the chips on the LED bulb itself. Adding loaded springs around the bolts could help with some fine-tuning, but shimming and adjusting further might provide a bit more control. However, in cases like this, the issue often comes down to the LED design. If you’re still struggling after adjustments, it may be worth considering a different brand with a chip placement that aligns better with the Wrangler’s housing for that wider, more accurate beam spread.
It likely will not give you the best results as they could yield, I'd most definitely recommend a setup that you can adjust to properly fit your vehicle!
This is a great video. My headlights have many scratches on the inside of the lense that can't be repaired. My fog lights get water on the inside. So what I did was buy new replacements and adjusted my new LED bulbs with the new assemblies and then placed them on the car fully aligned. I had to wait a couple of months before installing my new assemblies because it was the middle of winter.
I’m wondering the same here. I can’t seem to see the bulb position once they are fitted into my projector headlamps. Hope we can have some clarification. Thank you
The small cap in front of a halogen bulb in a reflector setup is called a bulb shield or glare shield. Its purpose is to block direct light from the bulb, reducing glare and ensuring the reflector properly directs the light beam.
All the install videos i see show leds in a reflector housing. Which makes it easier to see and align the led but, what about in a projector housing? How would you install them correctly in a projector?
Most of the time they need to be aligned the same way, horizontally. But the best rule of thumb is to experiment with different positions until you get the most concentrated beam pattern that most closely mimics your original beam pattern.
That kind of depends on which product you bought. We've seen some work really well and others work really bad. The good high quality housings that you can get from PIAA or Vision X take really well to LED bulbs. The cheaper generic ones don't work as well.
I'm no expert, But According to Diode Dynamics, that is incorrect! Projectors also require alignment. I've seen directions and Y. T videos saying the same thing on Leds for projector type. This is important . My Challenger has Halogens and adjustment is difficult due to the position of bulbs, and the bases are not at 6 o'clock position!
@@scotts6596 hello. How about the projector housing on my rav4 2015. The socket is on the side indtead on the back of the projector? How should I adjust it?
I'm not too familiar with those bulbs, but after looking at them, they do not appear to be adjustable. You're best bet would be to go with an LED bulb that can be adjusted.
Same way that was shown in the video. You can mark the back of the bulb with a line that matches the chip orientation. Then when the bulb is installed, just make sure the line on the back of the bulb is up and down, and you'll be good to go!
@@regularguyfixes3142 I think that's what he meant. mark the location of the chips with a sharpie on the plastic to get at 9-3 reference. Gonna try it tonight.
They are sensitive to orientation as well, just like the reflector housings! You will want to aim the LEDs to face left and right just the same, that way they mimick the OEM Halogen bulb as perfectly as possible!
@@HeadlightRevolution hello. How about the projector housing on my rav4 2015. The socket is on the side indtead on the back of the projector? How should I adjust it?
@@HeadlightRevolution I threw away the instructions that came with the bulbs. Your video was just the right one I was looking for. Very helpful, thank you again!!

Kindly did you ever tested the BAISHIDE Car Lights H4 LED H7 20000LM H11 LED Lamp for Car Headlight Bulbs H1 H8 H9 9005 9006 HB3 HB4 Turbo H7 LED Bulbs 12V 24V or thinking of testing them? Something else I am confused with is that the halogen lamp has a small cover or reflector near the low beam filament and is at the bottom position when fitted in the head light so the beam is emitted to the upper part so why when we insert an led bulb we should place it horizontal to emitt the light beam to the sides of the head lamp in a projectile head lamp?
So I just transferred LEDs from my 1st gen Dakota to my 2nd gen Dakota and now the hi-beams seem to be backwards. (Low is brights and brights are dimmed) Should I just rotate them 180°?
You’re absolutely right to consider rotating them 180° to ensure they’re properly aligned for the correct beam pattern. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, it’s possible your setup has a ground-switched plug. In that case, you’d need to repin the connector to correct the low/high beam configuration.
If I have them installed but can’t tell the angle they’re facing how am I able to know if the beam pattern is perfect? They’re placed in with the wire facing down which is how they’re supposed to be put in but I can rotate them once inside the housing should they be turned all the way to the right or when there’s a solid focus and cutoff or where should I determine is best when angling within the housing itself?
You will just need to pull the bulb out of the housing, look at what angle it is at, make sure to adjust for turning the bulb into place, then set the collar to allow for the bulb to face the proper directions! It is just a game of eyeballing it for the ones that have a projector or a reflector shield.
@@HeadlightRevolution yeah I have one of the hikari led’s so I’m able to just rotate it without having to remove the collar, now another question should I adjust it until it’s a completely focused beam with a definite cutoff or will I just have to play around with it to get an optimal pattern? I have them installed in a Kia Rio 2015 so I just wanted to make sure they were perfect!
You will just have to play around a little bit to make sure that it will align properly, I know that can be a pain but that is the only option with headlights like these. Sorry about that!
Just installed led headlights on my 2002 dodge ram 1500 3rd gen dual beam auxito now the high and low beams are flipped also when I hit the high beams it turns off my fogs
For that, the easiest way is to mark on the heatsink where the LED chips are. That way, when you install the bulb, you can use the mark as a reference.

We haven't heard much about Silverholder so it could be a few different things. First, try rotating them in the headlight to see if you can get a better beam pattern. The general rule of thumb is aligning at 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock but not every headlight is created equally. You may find a bit of rotation creates a better beam pattern for your specific vehicle. If fine tunig the bulb doesnt change the output, it may just be the LED itself and the way that it is engineered/design. In the same way not all headlights are created equally, the same can be said for LEDs. It's important to buy a high quality LED that can mimic the OEM Halogen filament location, or else you'll never have a decent beam pattern!
Can you send us a picture of the beam pattern and the bulbs you're using? sales@headlightrevolution.com Park about 25 ft away from the wall on a flat surface so we can see the beam pattern clearly!
That should be the same alignment, although there are some specific vehicles that will require them to be facing up and down. If you see a weird beam pattern, try rotating the bulbs 90 degrees to see if it clears up!
I have a ‘13 1500 and having the LED chips facing 12 and 6 o’clock produced a better beam pattern because the reflective surface in the vertical style fog lights is more predominant up and down vs side to side.
Finally someone who can explain the process and provide a visual demonstration of why headlight bulb alignment is so important.

Does this apply for the H11 projector side too? 9-3 degrees?
From all the research i've done, it seems to be the same guidelines for projector. you want a clean crisp cutoff
But is it the same for the projector housing for the low beam wich you can see the orientation when installed
We do typically suggest the same installation for the projector headlight!
Sir, Do we also need to align halogen bulb like this or it is only for Led ?
Only LED.
Thanks you for explaining common sense!!!
Glad it was helpful!
So this would work with my original headlights? What do people mean when leds are not for projector headlights? Or oem projectors?
Very useful video THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
You're welcome! Glad it helped!
Can you please tell name of that small cap type thing in front of halogen bulb in reflector set-up
The small cap in front of a halogen bulb in a reflector setup is called a bulb shield or glare shield. Its purpose is to block direct light from the bulb, reducing glare and ensuring the reflector properly directs the light beam.
Could you do one for the projector housing?
I'll let our video team know!
@@HeadlightRevolution thanks, i will be looking into getting a set for my 2019 peterbilt 587 which uses both reflector and projector halogen bulbs.
Very helpful video straight to the point 👍
3 and 9 perfect. Straight to the point. Sideways. Thank you sir.
Does 3 and 9 pattern means vertically like a | pipe
👏🏼👏🏼
Tried this with a cheap 9007 bulb on a mk4 VW Jetta. What a pain in the butt. I wonder if these would be any better
Worth a shot!
Why do the led lights have such a long wire, I'm wondering if that will cause issues in very wet conditione
I have a 7 inch round reflector headlight, are these reflectors suitable for an LED bulb conversion?
That kind of depends on which product you bought. We've seen some work really well and others work really bad. The good high quality housings that you can get from PIAA or Vision X take really well to LED bulbs. The cheaper generic ones don't work as well.
Oh my goodness gotta go back in to the PT cruiser and adjust it I may have put the blades at 3-9
🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Would I have to align an led headlight bulb on a projector type headlight like on a 4runner?
Norberto Melendez no alignment is needed for projector style headlight, only reflector.
James that is incorrect, it needs to be aligned regardless of the housing.
What about the C6 35W 9005 LED lights for gmc envoy the beam pattern is very bad so hot to adjust it
I'm not too familiar with those bulbs, but after looking at them, they do not appear to be adjustable. You're best bet would be to go with an LED bulb that can be adjusted.
Does the 3-9 alignment apply to projector type lights too?
Correct!
How do you adjust them with projector lenses with the morimoto 2stroke 2.0?
Same way that was shown in the video. You can mark the back of the bulb with a line that matches the chip orientation. Then when the bulb is installed, just make sure the line on the back of the bulb is up and down, and you'll be good to go!
@@HeadlightRevolution but projectors are still set at 9&3?
@@regularguyfixes3142 I think that's what he meant. mark the location of the chips with a sharpie on the plastic to get at 9-3 reference. Gonna try it tonight.
@@regularguyfixes3142 I think hid bulbs are far better for projectors
How the hell do you do this in a projector housing when you can’t see the bulb through the projector though?
You find a reference point using the wire or harness then adjust on how far you need it to go
Mark it Einstein
What about projector light housings? Are they sensitive to orientation as well?
They are sensitive to orientation as well, just like the reflector housings! You will want to aim the LEDs to face left and right just the same, that way they mimick the OEM Halogen bulb as perfectly as possible!
@@HeadlightRevolution hello. How about the projector housing on my rav4 2015. The socket is on the side indtead on the back of the projector? How should I adjust it?
Great video, very helpful and explaining information I was looking for. Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!
@@HeadlightRevolution I threw away the instructions that came with the bulbs. Your video was just the right one I was looking for. Very helpful, thank you again!!
Which degree do you aim a LED Low Beam for a 2007 Lexus IS250 ?
The degree at which you aim them is not important, it is the height that you aim them at. This video should be more helpful for you: ua-cam.com/video/OIow5YgdRro/v-deo.html
Kindly did you ever tested the BAISHIDE Car Lights H4 LED H7 20000LM H11 LED Lamp for Car Headlight Bulbs H1 H8 H9 9005 9006 HB3 HB4 Turbo H7 LED Bulbs 12V 24V or thinking of testing them?
Something else I am confused with is that the halogen lamp has a small cover or reflector near the low beam filament and is at the bottom position when fitted in the head light so the beam is emitted to the upper part so why when we insert an led bulb we should place it horizontal to emitt the light beam to the sides of the head lamp in a projectile head lamp?
what about adjusting the LED in a projector. is it the same 9 & 3 O'clock ?
Yes, it will be the same for projector headlights as well.
I have a question I have those 360 degree led head lights how would I align those?
Great information guys I will be installing my bulbs some time next week (H4 bulbs) 👌
Happy to help, Mark!
Thank you so much for this video. Exactly what I needed to see.
Glad it was helpful!
Should we align leds same way for projector headlights?
They'll align similarly, but I feel like fog light aim is mostly preference!
Would that 9&3 be the same for ram 2500 quad headlights?
Yep!
Can I fit 9005 led bulb in H1 halogen setup.
Awesome video on how to install this.thank you guys!!
Glad to help!
good demonstration, never knew that..
Looks this is what I need. Will check it out tomorrow
What about Fahre terminator h4 bulbs with the low and high on same bulb and a notch on one side
I would reach out to them directly for info on how to adjust them! (:
My Auxito Led bulbs don’t have an adjustable collar so what should I do with them
Return them for some GTR Ultra 2!
@@HeadlightRevolution I can’t use the ultra 2 due to having a dust cap what about the CSP mini ? Is that a good alternative
Hi mate, how about for the toyota corolla hatch 2012. Because when you put the led you wont see if its on the 9 and 3 oclock
For that, the easiest way is to mark on the heatsink where the LED chips are. That way, when you install the bulb, you can use the mark as a reference.
I just bought silverholder's h13 LED's and I have them set in but I have a weird glare waaayyy above my light beam..idk what causes it ..I have them set at 9/3 like the video said...any ideas?
2008 dodge grand caravan sxt
I have a honda city 2009. I followed the right angle 3 and 9 but i still dont have the proper alignment with the cut off. Anything you can suggest?
Some vehicles will take some trial and error to get them just right!
But what about led in that projector
Does not work. I just tried and multiple blindspots will exist.
I have darkness inbetween both of my lights ... I have them at 9/3 what do i do now ?
Can you send us a picture of the beam pattern and the bulbs you're using? sales@headlightrevolution.com
Park about 25 ft away from the wall on a flat surface so we can see the beam pattern clearly!
What is the correct position for High beam? 9005 \HB3 LED bulb
It depends on vehicle type, shoot us an email at Sales@headlightrevolution.com and we can help
Im assuming its 9 snd 3 in a vertical housing for fog light for ram 1500 too?
That should be the same alignment, although there are some specific vehicles that will require them to be facing up and down. If you see a weird beam pattern, try rotating the bulbs 90 degrees to see if it clears up!
I have a ‘13 1500 and having the LED chips facing 12 and 6 o’clock produced a better beam pattern because the reflective surface in the vertical style fog lights is more predominant up and down vs side to side.
Perfect! Glad to hear that you got them aligned properly! 👍
@@philprindle8145 I will try that and see how that works
How about projector housings ?
Same thing!
