"Artists create their own path through the rejections..." just one of the many wonderful ideas she put out there. Enjoyable presentation, she was warm and honest in the sharing of her stories!
Very cool of her to do this. She, as far as I'm concerned, is a complete original . The decade of '85-'95 would have sounded very different without her. And Lilith likely wouldn't have happened.
As a singer-songwriter myself who just started out three years ago at 61, I admire people like Suzanne, who have withstood the test of time. Success in any field is all about effort and tenacity. You have to be able to laugh at rejection.
Indeed pure class and very intelligent. I think the industry changes so fast that she I am sure has been burned on some and won on others. Funny how the lawyers have their hands in this too...
Thanks for such a great amount of insight into Suzanne, and who she is inside as a person. A very good presentation, camera in focus, balanced stage lights, good stage mic........ except someone forgot the boom-mic so we could hear the questions being asked....ah well..all the same still great!!!!!
How many artists today would have done that, not suing DNA for sampling her song without permission. It just reflects the giving nature of Suzanne, who, unlike most artists in the entertainment world, is not totally motivated by money. She realised where they were coming from, as struggling musicians, because of her own experience of having to start from scratch in the cut throat music business. She is by nature, a very giving person, who often gives of her time and resources to help others.
Thank you Suzanne for giving us, your fans, an in depth insight into your world as a successful singer/songwriter. I found your talk, and interaction with your audience to be most enlightening. Hopefully, anyone out there interested in entering the industry as a budding singer/songwriter will have found your experiences in the industry, most helpful and revealing. Thanks both to you Suzanne, and the Montalvo Arts Centre for hosting this workshop.
This is a wonderful wonderful thing! Suzanne thank you for doing this - saying such lovely things to my husband Kenny Schick. PLEASE Montalvo do more of these, with more wonderful artists that are really true artists that are willing to share so generously! I would go to every single one of these workshops if you have them!!!! and publicize them!!!! :)
Thanks for posting. Surprised the in-person audience was so sparse, but thanks to the Internet this has reached over 30,000 people. Suzanne shares some profound advice about finding your path in life, applicable to musicians and non-musicians alike. Very eloquent.

Love her, her music and the way she interprets. Original!
The tempo of her voice is so smart. She's a wealth of info.

@@andreasschiller1215 And Joni Mitchell wasn't at Woodstock. It's a strange business.
