wasn't the main criticism of that game "it retconned some details of muh espanded universe" which was unsurprising too, because it wasnt a secret that Bungie never cared about the EU, for example, for them the blue team doesn't exist, because it would deminish Chief's role in the games, he's the last Spartan.
They should have just made a show about Johnson and the first round of Spartans. Then you could have had someone 'diverse' that we like and you could actually have a different perspective leading up to the events of Halo 1. Because we don't have too much of Johnson's backstory, we mostly just know he IS a badass and he knows what the ladies like. Or hell, talking about Reach, what about Noble Team? Theres your cast right there. They've been active a while and you even have an easy transition into Chief at the end of their story.

As a Halo Fan all the way from Combat evolve first released, I'm ok with it but then again I immediately stop comparing accuracy the moment they officially declared this is an alternative timeline and not the canon one, and start to watch and critique this show not on lore accuracy but on whether its just a good show or not by its performance and effects, hated it in Season 1 but I start to enjoy it more with 2 as they start to make improvements

A 7 foot tall super soldier cannot just put on a hoodie and sneak out of a military base to go on some NCIS plot line to uncover government conspiracy. Ackerson could have gaslit Jimmy Rings and Keyes to manipulate them to be more compliant, which would have been more consistent with how ONI operates. Mjolnir Armor, a multi-billion dollar piece of military equipment doesn’t have a body cam to verify what Jimmy saw? No Covenant blood samples that was on his armor could have verified his claims? It’s just bad writing and storytelling regardless of the name of the show, it’s just made worse by calling it Halo.

I think we shouldn't ignore it, we should punish them for their disrespect wherever there are conversations being had. What we should do, however, is enjoy the quality content that has been produced and what fans are producing. There's more than enough older content to explore in the comics, books, cartoons, and other content to keep us going for a long, long time without giving any of this stuff more attention than we need to tell them how terrible they're doing.

Fans will say,"Do a story on Reach!" and the soyjacks will say,"But we did that already and it was great!" While they point to this... You all might want to get together and just make your own series at this point. Budget might not be great, but the chance at being faithful to the lore and writing quality will be limitless when you arent influenced by a ESG score.
Again remember the people writing the story, 343 story group and Kiki in particular never liked Bungies version of Halo because they thought it glorified the military, soldiers, and war. That's why, when given the opportunity to write the show, they completely retcon'd it. Not because they thought it made the Halo story better on screen but because it didn't vibe with their ideology. That's why the military is cartoonishly evil and incompetent. That's why no fan favorite soldiers like Sgt Johnson. That's why if they're forced to make Masterchief a hero, it's no longer in service to a military and fellow soldiers honorably sacrificing themselves to save humanity. Just at found your content a couple days ago and I have been binge watching your content in regard to Halo from season 1. You are the voice of what I feel when I watch these episodes! I was 10 years old when Halo came out and have grown a love and appreciation for the franchise. I have read several of the books and played all the games. I am a die hard fan as well. There are parts that I do like in the show, but overall it is absolutely criminal how they are treating the beloved Halo that we all know and love. I enjoy hearing what you have to say about it. I've just learned to accept the fact that the Halo show's target audience is not Halo fans. It was evident when it came out that the writers and directors did not play the games or read the books, and went out of their way to make this a whole different timeline so they could do whatever they wanted. They're just using Halo as a recognizable skin for people who have vaguely heard of or remember Halo to watch it. I just don't understand who the show is for. Preexisting Halo fans for the most part see this show as an abomination to its source material, while newcomers are just weirded out by the story and barely get a fraction of the original lore's potential

How is a small audio story podcast like Hunt the Truth (meant only to market halo 5) so much better than a fully realized show with a huge budget? I personally think 343 caught lightning in a bottle with HtT, it’s by far the best product they put out. It’s sad that they haven’t been able to do something of that quality sense.
I was watching this show and almost breaking out in tears, my gf asked me if it was because I was happy but no, I was just heartbroken to see what more than 20 years of dreams for an awesome movie or show were rewarded with. That's how bad of a mark this show has left on me.
Dude I'm not kidding, same I was tearing up after grabbing my hair thinking wtf did they just do. None of it, not one single plotline follows what actually happens except one mention of defending the generators to maintain power to the super MACs which we never see, and never will, with Spartans defending reach with no armour. Then they decide reach isnt even worth fighting for even thought it's their military and industrial war machine of a fortress planet, their most valuable asset next to earth. Human fought hard and long for reach but they depict it as a 3 hour slaughter. They kill keys in a dumb way, they kill vannek who was one of the only likeable characters too. They leave earth without even warning their own defences, and take all value able assets except silver team themselves and leave them to die defenceless, and oops they also leave Cortana to be taken too... I can go on and on, it's just fkn sad man. Unbelievable.

Rather than the show, I find it more enjoyable to argue with the casuals why their opinion is wrong about this show being good/decent. It strengthens my resolve and love of the original core of what halo is.
It's a good show when you mute the sound. No kidding, this is truly how I watch the show, and I create new script that I say out loud. Like for me, this is a random planet, not Reach. And I have a pretty cute plot surrounding it. The images are amazing, ships costumes etc.
Man, ever since i played Halo Reach, i've been dreaming with a live action remake of the fall of Reach, you could have made a whole season just out the battle for New Alexandria. I just don’t understand why a studio would want to butcher the fall of Reach. It’s an apocalyptic battle for survival, an all or nothing struggle in the face of oblivion, which would be a rating goldmine.
So the decision to leave reach to die is Stoopid, really can't get why they went with that, but when episode 4 started, the first half of action I liked and I was waiting to see the Spartans reach flitcom and suit up, only to hear that they don't have their armors there, imagine my disappointment

Well prior to Halo reach the only lore of reaches fall was in the book and Reach fell in only a few hours if not a day. Thats why I love Halo Reach it adds more and makes sense that a military strong hold would hold for weeks. Not mere hours.
Literally all of these shows just need to axe their activists and hire real writers. They are being actively sabotaged when they should all be easy wins.

He still acts like a baby freaking out about the prisoner of war he had to have sex with (yup, she's back so that's new S2 bullshit), he refuses to talk to his team or other Spartans about things he knows because it's the only way this shit ass writing could connect the dots (chief would never sit there and go into a rescue op without telling his team what was going on), etc etc. What about Keys? in S2 they just killed him off before he can actually do anything of use, let alone the story beats he should be in (PoA or the first Halo ring?). Not only that but they spent a while building him up to be the only one in the Spartan's corner (wrong but that's the story they are trying to tell) but then turn around and have a damn Admiral lose all of their armor? Or how he's all ready to sacrifice every unit he has on day one instead of trying to defend arguably the most important planet that Humanity has to then just turn around and be like you know what I probably should get on this escape boat. And his death scene doesn't even make sense, the jackals climb this tower and kill every man woman and child in sight just to stand right beside a whole tanker full of unarmed targets and just get into like a 60 second staring contest with one random Human? Even if they knew Human rank structures they would take him down or take him prisoner, not just stare at him for a minute or two and do absolutely nothing. This is 12 year old level story telling. The blind guy with a grenade launched in the middle of the city? Are you serious? even if we're pretending he has really good hearing how the hell is that going to help him in a city full of explosions that are bigger than skyscrapers? How about on Reach right after explosions that are the size of entire city blocks go off one scene later we're one block over and everyone is just walking around the mag lev station all willy nilly like it's Sunday afternoon? Every other block they went to for a few scenes it's ungodly level of destruction and chaos and then the next scene it's just another tuesday until the crap writing needs to shove another action scene in. And lets talk about those action scenes. The entirety of S2 every single action piece has been under HEAVY darkness to cover up the shoddy CGI. At least S1 had a few scenes in the bright daylight. What does S2 have, nothing but smoke and darkness. Oh wait, there is one more thing it has, cringe tier levels of shaky cam. Half of episode 4 was ungodly shaky cam to cover up all the bad acting, low grade props, and not good CGI. And that's not even getting into Big Boss Kwan, the fact that there is zero other Spartans around, Magical Girl Maki being resurrected and working for the prophets who look at ALL humanity as a threat that needs wiped out, how the covenant just got their hands on redesigned for some reason Cortana with zero fucking effort (which was Chief's entire original goal, keep Cortana away from the covenant), the utter contrivance that is Ackerson (Or Atkerson, it's been a minute since going through the books) having his sister be a S2 washout, or maybe the biggest grievance of all, the ONI and USNC just giving up humanity's most important planet in regards to their survival. I'm sure you'll come back to this with some big brain comment about how you are too pathetic to read a few paragraphs in a row or some weak shit like that. This isn't Halo. This isn't even good generic scifi with a Halo coat of paint on it.

I think we shouldn't ignore it, we should punish them for their disrespect wherever there are conversations being had. What we should do, however, is enjoy the quality content that has been produced and what fans are producing. There's more than enough older content to explore in the comics, books, cartoons, and other content to keep us going for a long, long time without giving any of this stuff more attention than we need to tell them how terrible they're doing.

Again remember the people writing the story, 343 story group and Kiki in particular never liked Bungies version of Halo because they thought it glorified the military, soldiers, and war. That's why, when given the opportunity to write the show, they completely retcon'd it. Not because they thought it made the Halo story better on screen but because it didn't vibe with their ideology.
That's why the military is cartoonishly evil and incompetent. That's why no fan favorite soldiers like Sgt Johnson. That's why if they're forced to make Masterchief a hero, it's no longer in service to a military and fellow soldiers honorably sacrificing themselves to save humanity. Instead we get a rogue Masterchief always going against the evil military and fellow soldiers who are up to no good.
You can see the ripple effects throughout the tv show. The main problem is that the people that hated Bungies Halo should have never been put in the position to bring Halo to life. It's just one more bad decision in a long line of bad decisions that have been made ever since Bungie entrusted 343 industries with the Halo IP. Just at found your content a couple days ago and I have been binge watching your content in regard to Halo from season 1.
You are the voice of what I feel when I watch these episodes! I was 10 years old when Halo came out and have grown a love and appreciation for the franchise. I have read several of the books and played all the games. I am a die hard fan as well. There are parts that I do like in the show, but overall it is absolutely criminal how they are treating the beloved Halo that we all know and love. I enjoy hearing what you have to say about it. Keep up the good work and finish this fight!!

I've just learned to accept the fact that the Halo show's target audience is not Halo fans. It was evident when it came out that the writers and directors did not play the games or read the books, and went out of their way to make this a whole different timeline so they could do whatever they wanted. They're just using Halo as a recognizable skin for people who have vaguely heard of or remember Halo to watch it. I just don't understand who the show is for. Preexisting Halo fans for the most part see this show as an abomination to its source material, while newcomers are just weirded out by the story and barely get a fraction of the original lore's potential

I'll do you one better, I know what's it's like to get my favorite franchise torn to pieces and have virtually EVERYONE be okay with it, even the "fans", in fact they treat it as "necessary" or "the logical path", because they were all collectively too stupid to come up with solid lore that made sense, so they just eat up whatever corporate shits out.

How is a small audio story podcast like Hunt the Truth (meant only to market halo 5) so much better than a fully realized show with a huge budget? I personally think 343 caught lightning in a bottle with HtT, it’s by far the best product they put out. It’s sad that they haven’t been able to do something of that quality sense.
I was watching this show and almost breaking out in tears, my gf asked me if it was because I was happy but no, I was just heartbroken to see what more than 20 years of dreams for an awesome movie or show were rewarded with. That's how bad of a mark this show has left on me.
Dude I'm not kidding, same I was tearing up after grabbing my hair thinking wtf did they just do. None of it, not one single plotline follows what actually happens except one mention of defending the generators to maintain power to the super MACs which we never see, and never will, with Spartans defending reach with no armour. Then they decide reach isnt even worth fighting for even thought it's their military and industrial war machine of a fortress planet, their most valuable asset next to earth. Human fought hard and long for reach but they depict it as a 3 hour slaughter. They kill keys in a dumb way, they kill vannek who was one of the only likeable characters too. They leave earth without even warning their own defences, and take all value able assets except silver team themselves and leave them to die defenceless, and oops they also leave Cortana to be taken too... I can go on and on, it's just fkn sad man. Unbelievable.

Halo Legends and Halo Evolutions are still the best Halo media outside the games.
Rather than the show, I find it more enjoyable to argue with the casuals why their opinion is wrong about this show being good/decent. It strengthens my resolve and love of the original core of what halo is.
It's a good show when you mute the sound. No kidding, this is truly how I watch the show, and I create new script that I say out loud. Like for me, this is a random planet, not Reach. And I have a pretty cute plot surrounding it.

Man, ever since i played Halo Reach, i've been dreaming with a live action remake of the fall of Reach, you could have made a whole season just out the battle for New Alexandria. And instead of expanding greatly in what the games can't really show us, we get this DEI ESG W-O-K-E shit show. Paramount really managed to star trek discovery the life out of Halo. Gentleman, it is with a heavy heart i must inform you, i feel nothing but contempt and apathy for modern Halo. Thanks hollywood, for yet another blood sacrifice for DEI ESG gods. This is like that episode of The Goodies where Bill, Graham and Taylor set up a pirate post office radio station outside the twelve mile legal limit and over the course of the episode Graham becomes more and more power-hungry to the point of trying to row Britain outside the twelve mile legal limit and in so doing the row-boat submarine radio post office station thing springs a leak and they all nearly drown after trying to save Graham.
Thats what Halo is now. 343 Industries is Graham and Halo is the pirate post office.

Well prior to Halo reach the only lore of reaches fall was in the book and Reach fell in only a few hours if not a day. Thats why I love Halo Reach it adds more and makes sense that a military strong hold would hold for weeks. Not mere hours.

I'm no longer interested in seeing diversity and inclusivity in fact I have started to find myself repulsed by it. Over the last decade, I've seen countless shows, movies, and games destroy promising premises and beloved franchises for the sake of them and I remain unimpressed with what they bring to the table.

As a Halo Fan all the way from Combat evolve first released, I'm ok with it but then again I immediately stop comparing accuracy the moment they officially declared this is an alternative timeline and not the canon one, and started to watch and critique this show not on lore accuracy but on whether its just a good show or not by its performance and effects. I don't know why people are still trying to demand lore accuracy when they said from the get go its not going to be. You guys should've entered this show and treated as more enjoyable halo fanfiction than a canon connected work when they announced its going to be a non canon timeline for the get go.

What have we seen chief do in S2 so far. He still acts like a baby freaking out about the prisoner of war he had to have sex with (yup, she's back so that's new S2 bullshit), he refuses to talk to his team or other Spartans about things he knows because it's the only way this shit ass writing could connect the dots (chief would never sit there and go into a rescue op without telling his team what was going on), etc etc.
What about Keys? in S2 they just killed him off before he can actually do anything of use, let alone the story beats he should be in (PoA or the first Halo ring?). Not only that but they spent a while building him up to be the only one in the Spartan's corner (wrong but that's the story they are trying to tell) but then turn around and have a damn Admiral lose all of their armor? Or how he's all ready to sacrifice every unit he has on day one instead of trying to defend arguably the most important planet that Humanity has to then just turn around and be like you know what I probably should get on this escape boat. And his death scene doesn't even make sense, the jackals climb this tower and kill every man woman and child in sight just to stand right beside a whole tanker full of unarmed targets and just get into like a 60 second staring contest with one random Human? Even if they knew Human rank structures they would take him down or take him prisoner, not just stare at him for a minute or two and do absolutely nothing. This is 12 year old level story telling.
The blind guy with a grenade launched in the middle of the city? Are you serious? even if we're pretending he has really good hearing how the hell is that going to help him in a city full of explosions that are bigger than skyscrapers?
How about on Reach right after explosions that are the size of entire city blocks go off one scene later we're one block over and everyone is just walking around the mag lev station all willy nilly like it's Sunday afternoon? Every other block they went to for a few scenes it's ungodly level of destruction and chaos and then the next scene it's just another tuesday until the crap writing needs to shove another action scene in.
And lets talk about those action scenes. The entirety of S2 every single action piece has been under HEAVY darkness to cover up the shoddy CGI. At least S1 had a few scenes in the bright daylight. What does S2 have, nothing but smoke and darkness. Oh wait, there is one more thing it has, cringe tier levels of shaky cam. Half of episode 4 was ungodly shaky cam to cover up all the bad acting, low grade props, and not good CGI.
And that's not even getting into Big Boss Kwan, the fact that there is zero other Spartans around, Magical Girl Maki being resurrected and working for the prophets who look at ALL humanity as a threat that needs wiped out, how the covenant just got their hands on redesigned for some reason Cortana with zero fucking effort (which was Chief's entire original goal, keep Cortana away from the covenant), the utter contrivance that is Ackerson (Or Atkerson, it's been a minute since going through the books) having his sister be a S2 washout,
or maybe the biggest grievance of all, the ONI and USNC just giving up humanity's most important planet in regards to their survival.
I'm sure you'll come back to this with some big brain comment about how you are too pathetic to read a few paragraphs in a row or some weak shit like that. This isn't Halo. This isn't even good generic scifi with a Halo coat of paint on it.
