Megumi means blessing in Japanese. So when Toji was telling Geto that he had a blessing in his technique he reminded himself of his son's name.

If you notice Tojis curse going to Geto, that’s the Curse he used in JJK0 to get his cursed weapon to use against Yuta

  • @-quoreo-7196
    @-quoreo-7196 Рік тому +29

In 4:35, the curse actually rejected him. This is why in JJK 0, Geto wanted to kill Yuta to get Rika, because he knew beforehand that trying to get someone's curse bounded/contracted to another would fail. Also, plus why Geto uses Toji's curse (because it's not bounded to Toji anymore.)
It is often depicted as Geto getting Toji's curse and Gojo getting Toji's blessing (and quite literally at that.)

"Enlightened" is the word most everyone is using to describe Gojo in that moment and fight.
He understood cursed energy on a level he didn't before, specifically on the brink of death.
He already had the confidence and arrogance of the world, he was the strongest, and he had just gotten stronger.
    The writing is SO GOOD

  • @tiredidealist

Gojo being "high" is actually something that happens to a lot of people who have near death experiences. For whatever reason many people experience a unique kind of wholeness and fulfillment as they're dying. Some people feel the opposite; A distinct kind of loneliness and terror. One woman reported feeling her spirit taken away into a void. She was surrounded by "circular beings" who laughed at her and told her that she had never existed at all. When she tried to tell them about her life, they told her it hadn't really happened. They said it was all just a joke...

@@Kratos263 It gets a bit confusing but remember that curses (be the "monsters", or the usual techniques used by sorcerers) come from negative energy (resentment, pain, etc...). Getou was a moral compass for Gojo when asked about killing the sheeple. Blue was negative and Red was positive, signifying their mentality at the moment. Gojo would have killed them all but Getou stopped him. Reaffirming the first's espisode debate about power.

Great reactions as always! Looking forward to seeing your reactions to the upcoming arc as well!
This may overlap with some other comments but i'll try to answer some questions even though some of them may not be "genuine" questions but more likely reactions to certain things, some of these answers are up for interpretation so take some of these things with a grain of salt. This contains no spoilers!
4:00 - Kuchisake-onna ("Slit-Mouthed Woman") Described as the malicious spirit, she partially covers her face with a mask (to cover up her disfigurement) or other item and carries a pair of scissors, a knife, or some other sharp object.
According to legend, she asks potential victims if they think she is beautiful.
If the individual responds with "no", she will kill them with her weapon, and if they say "yes" hesitantly she will cut the corners of their mouth in such a way that resembles her own disfigurement. Methods that can be used to survive an encounter with Kuchisake-onna include answering her question by describing her appearance as "average" or “not their type”
    ___________________________________________________________________________
5:42 - As many people have already said Megumi (恵) means blessing, grace in japanese, it's also a feminine given name which is why in S1:E5 Megumi comments on the fact “The father who named me Megumi with no regard for my gender”
    ___________________________________________________________________________
10:50 - You didn’t really ask about this, but i love this moment so I can't help but ramble about it. Siddhartha Gautama or The Buddha which in turn means (“the awakened”)
Some Buddhists believe that when the Buddha was born, he stood up, took seven steps, and said "I alone am the Honored One." He then pointed up, to heaven, with one hand and down, to earth, with the other. The seven steps the Buddha took are thought to represent seven directions north, south, east, west, up, down, and here.
This is a great line for so many reasons, the symbolism is that Gojo is finally awakened and truly understands cursed energy making him the strongest sorcerer alive. In what Gojo clearly sees as himself transcending he decides to quote the buddha. Gege Akutami has mentioned in his author comments that the quote “...seems to have various connotations, but I like using it in the arrogant sense of the phrase.”
So i think it's implied that Gojo uses this in an arrogant way saying that he himself is truly special, i am not an expert in Buddhism but i have seen different takes on what The Buddha meant when he said this (It should also be noted that the original saying was in sanskrit so translating it may lead to a loss of meaning) and one thing he could have meant was that he himself as well as all living beings are equal and hold the same value, honored to walk the earth (meaning that he was just the first one to see the truth of the world, according to the buddhist belief system) another take i have seen some people claim is that he was the first person to reach a point in the reincarnation-cycle with enough enlightenment to achieve Nirvana and thus felt honored to have reached that point.
    ___________________________________________________________________________
12:04 - I don’t know if you had time to process this due to the quick shock after seeing his body carved out, but it’s a really important moment, basically Toji had no reason to fight Gojo at this moment, the job was already finished and there was no incentive for him fight, but he still did because he was trying to prove himself against the strongest sorcerer which represents the system that the Zenin-clan is built on. The implied shitty treatment he went through in the Zenin-clan (consider what Maki went through) because of his lack of Cursed Energy and technique, made him revolt and thus ended up with him dying. For a show that is all about curses, this is a really profound moment, since if you look at it from a different perspective you could say that the Zenin-clan indirectly cursed Toji to death.
    ___________________________________________________________________________
13:30 - This is the Time Vessel Association/Star Religious Group they are clapping because their group has succeeded in preventing the merger between Tengen which the group considers their deity and the “impurity” Riko Amonai.
    ___________________________________________________________________________
14:40 - You just asked yourself one of the biggest questions of the entire series, does it really need to be meaning in the actions you take? Does Gojo and Geto really have a “responsibility” to protect weaker people? (on a moral level yes, but this isn’t some universal truth, this is just humanity's morality) this is still one of those scenes that makes me ask a lot of questions about morality.
Geto here seems like he is really lying to himself and restraining the impulse to kill them all, and thus rationalizing a reason to why he shouldn’t do it.
Gojo on the other hand seems to be indifferent to either scenario, and in saying “the way i feel right now, i doubt i’d feel anything about it” is more or less saying: “these people are insignificant, they have no value in either case so if you want to we can kill them all”
Gojo has also relied on Geto as a sort of a moral compass and maybe he feels a bit lost in this moment because of both the death of Riko and his awakening thus leaning on Getos morals to get him through this, even though he decides to go with Getos choice since he trusts him, at the same time he questions if rationalizing actions still is the way to go.
Killing a person is bad no matter how you slice it, humans and society come up with reasons why it’s justified or for the greater good but you still killed someone, that doesn’t change. I think this is the point Gojo is making, Gojo killing them all for his own self gratification would be just as bad as if he had a reason such as “these people may become dangerous one day”
This is pure speculation on my part though.
The thing that really threw me for a loop when the anime came out though is the fact that in the manga this is in black and white, but in the anime it’s separated by the color blue and red. When i saw this i immediately started thinking about Gojo’s cursed technique applications, Red is his technique while using positive energy and Blue is his technique while using negative energy (cursed) is this Gege Akutamis way of saying what he considers the right way of thinking? And does this in turn apply to the sorcerers of jujutsu kaisen or is this Geges personal opinion as well?
