Seeing Vegeta fight like that gives me vibes of when he fought Goku on earth the first time. He just wouldn't give up but he did it for his pride, now he is doing for someone else. Amazing way to keep the character growth but with consistency.

I love vegetas last stand here. Super has had a hard time keeping consistent with vegetas previous character arcs. It sometimes felt like he never sacrificed himself the first time in the buu arc because of how much of an asshole he was. In this fight he is doing everything he can to stall jiren, putting all of his trust into goku to be able to master ui and defeat jiren. It feels like a true fulfillment of character

MelonGuys, you gotta remember, every second Vegeta kept Jiren focused on him meant the other Uni7 fighters had time to recharge, and ticked seconds off the clock that they needed to last- a win isn't needed, just outlasting. Vegeta's strat was to keep Jiren focused on him, while Goku and Co recovered and simply weren't in the crosshairs.
Vegeta went out with honor. He helped eliminatany contenders including the God of Destruction candidate Toppo.
Yeah he pulled his weight to the very end and contributed everything he had.
Respect for the entire seventh universe.

Imo Jiren this episode now cares about demonstrating to U7 that his way of only strength is superior. Even if he can't break their spirit he has to demonstrate by crushing them into the dirt so obviously they can't honestly deny it. If he just one-punched them out they could tell themselves it was a lucky shot.

I dont even think vegeta losing was a sacrifice. He did get several moments in here including a new form and he literally took down a god from the strongest universe in the tournament. We all knew he wasnt going to be the one to beat jiren but they definitely gave him his moments before he got knocked out and i love that as vegeta has always been screwed over for moments like those

In this specific arc, yes. But generally, not really though. In the manga it has been established already during the Granolah arc that as long as someone is more powerful than Goku, then that person can overpower Goku even if he's in mastered UI form. Goku has finally able to access the form anytime he wants, but he's still not able to sustain the form for as long as he wants to, and that is the major weakness of his mastered UI.
Vegeta had more plot armor cause he survived a lot of shit that should have killed him. LOL
