    I have had dermaplaning done by a medical Esthetician. I bought and used this dermaplane tool at home. It’s definitely worth the money, however it is no where near as good as having it done professionally. It’s like cutting your own hair with sub par scissors vs having a $ 200 haircut by a veteran stylist. I only bought this because of quarantine. I plan on having this professionally done in the future. For now this is better than nothing.

    I just now saw this video because I was looking at the new MT dermaplaning tool. I have been shaving my face for years now since we were stationed in Japan where I discovered that japanese women shaved their face. I love the smooth feeling except, you can feel every lint that touches your face throughout the day. Thanks for this review.

    To anyone skeptical about using dermaplaning tools, you’re rightfully so. Use them incorrectly and you’ll end up with nasty ingrown hairs, and shaving bumps. Ima hairy man who,grows hair on every inch of my face, and the safest way for me to get a smooth face is to use fine, 1” grooming scissors with a straight blade. Shave in a bright area, natural lighting is best. Place the scissors as you can get to the root of the hair, and carefully cut at the root. Take care so as to avoid yanking out hairs, you want to make it easy for the hair to grow back, and avoid shaving bumps. A good scissor shave lasts me 2-3 days at best. The more you do it, the easier and quicker it becomes, and as you begin to notice individual hairs growing back, you can quickly chop them off. I’ll only dermaplane or use a straight edge razor for my hairline and eyebrows.

    I used to use a similar razor. About a year ago I started using an epilator instead. It pulls the hair from the root so it stays smooth for quite a while. I also use the epilator for the underarm area and legs. It hurt the first few times I used it, but now it's not so bad. I only need to do it about twice a month. Thanks for the demo.

      For some bizarre reason, my skin is less irritated by shaving than it is by pulling the hairs out. I end up getting hives for a couple of days when I pull out hair en masse. So I pluck my own eyebrows and "moustache" hairs and can only do a few everyday. It's SO annoying. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for this, I’m am soooo nervous to shave my face but I have to do something about these hair. How was the regrowth? Was it prickly? I’m so nervous about that part. Have you done it again? If so, how many times a month do you do it?

    • @TheMicheleWang
      @TheMicheleWang  6 років тому +2

      I've used it twice - once every couple of weeks. I'm sitting here feeling my face 😂 and I don't feel it prickly at all. I don't see more growth either, but where I have textured skin, I'm feeling like the texture is worse for a couple days afterwards so I'm going to avoid those areas from now on.

    I️ buy Tinkle brand off of Amazon in a 3 pack. It’s super cheap and easy to do. I️ love how my skin feels afterwards.

    • @annettebarletta8014
      @annettebarletta8014 6 років тому +2

      I use the Tinkle too, but no matter how slow or gentle I glide, I always end up scratching my face and neck by the chin. I think sometimes the quality of the Tinkle is not consistent and the razors are very rough. What do you think?

    • @brendaf1033
      @brendaf1033 6 років тому +1

      I was using the Tinkle but the last pack was very rough and left my face red and irritated. The whole pack felt scratchy. I've also just used a regular razor in a pinch LOL At present I'm using Flawless Touch razor which is only a hair removal tool. It isn't going to exfoliate your face. It looks like the head of a Norelco electric razor (round floating head). It is not an epilator. It cuts the hair. No scratching, pulling or anything. For now it is OK but I have been interested in some of the newer products like the one Michele is using.

    • @annettebarletta8014
      @annettebarletta8014 6 років тому

      Thanks for replying Brenda. There are two products. Tinkle and Twinkle. They look exactly the same. I am not sure which was is the "authentic" face razor. I've gotten both and one was okay and I sent the other back. Now I have the Tinkle and it isn't very good.

    Great video! I've been shaving my face for years because I have a lot of peach fuzz now. I just say this right out, Menopause sucks LOL My foundations go on much smoother and treatments go directly on skin instead of getting hung up on hair. I had not seen this one demo'd before. Thank you for showing this in action! The only other similar tool I've seen is the Dermaflash but the reviews are mixed and it is almost double the price. This one (Sonicsmooth) has good reviews and the price is reasonable. UPDATE: before I even finished the last sentence, I hit your link and ordered it LOL Can't wait to get this. Happy Holidays to me!

    Thank you for this! I always buy those disposable ones at the drug store and they hurt! Wanted to ask you- I use retinol and BHA, which are my main sources for exfoliation. But I’d like to try this for my peach fuzz. Do you think it would be too much? I’d use it on the exact areas as you: between the brow and hair line and my side burns! 😝Thank you! :)

    • @TheMicheleWang
      @TheMicheleWang  6 років тому

      For me, this tool was much more gentle than the disposable ones. I always felt a little irritated after using those, and didn't feel that way after this sonicsmooth. But I've never personally had experience with retinol and BHA - do you use it everyday? If not, I would say use this on those off days? Or is it possible to not apply every day just to those areas you'll be shaving?

    • @erinpender8519
      @erinpender8519 6 років тому

      Thanks, Michele! I don’t use both retinol and BHA everyday, but rather I alternate between the two. My skin tends to shed/renew quickly, so if the sonicsmooth is super gentle, seems like it would be ok to use once a week. How often have you been using it? Thanks again! 👍😊

    • @TheMicheleWang
      @TheMicheleWang  6 років тому +1

      I've only used it that one time, and I'm planning on once every two weeks, but maybe every 10-14 days (I'm looking at myself in the mirror now LOL). If you do order, be sure to order from a retailer that will take returns, because you never know! And I would hate for you to overly irritate your skin and regret your purchase.

  • @JillCristmd

    Nope! No negative repercussions (unless someone’s as thicker, more hormonal hair growth and may be prone to ingrowns or associated inflammation from that regrow as men can). Very cool product!!

    • @TheMicheleWang
      @TheMicheleWang  6 років тому +2

      I gotta say - I'm really impressed with it. I def experienced a bit of irritation with a straight little twinkle blade. But this worked like a charm. Maybe my skin is stronger today than it was back then. Who knows... but I'm glad there are no negative repercussions! The last thing I need is a hairier face 😂

    Have you used it around the lips and chin because I need it there in particular also.....

    • @TheMicheleWang
      @TheMicheleWang  6 років тому +2

      I haven't - I don't have chin hair and I tweeze out the individual darker hairs above my lip. But I would think the chin is similar to my under eye/cheek bone area and it worked well, but you have to use shorter strokes to accomodate for the curves. As for the upper lip, I would say to definitely make sure you've got that skin pulled taut since it's a softer area. I think about what men do when they shave that area - they kind of suck their lip in so it's taut over their teeth... if that makes sense! But I would think using your other hand would be helpful too.

  • @annettebarletta8014

    Michele, thanks for sharing this with us -- did you do chin or lip area? I use the Tinkle and I always end up red and splotchy with at least a few scratches. I was considering the other dermaplane, Flash something. But it is expensive and I don't see outstanding reviews.

    • @TheMicheleWang
      @TheMicheleWang  6 років тому

      I think it's Dermaflash, which I haven't tried. But I don't do the chin or lip area. I have a few darker hairs on my upper lip that I tweeze individually. And I don't have much on the chin. I mainly have them around my eye area (like Wolverine) and my sideburns. I will say that it seemed to take some work around the curves by my eyes which would prob be similar to the chin. If you do try it there, I would say just go slowly. And the little tinkle blades irritated my skin much more than this tool!

    • @TheMicheleWang

      It’s meant to take away fuzz but it will also exfoliate your skin the way shaving does.

    Nice video! Do you still use this? Does it still work good? Also have you noticed increased hair growth since using this? I would love to know your honest opinion on it, now that you’ve probably been using it for about 5 months ?

    • @TheMicheleWang
      @TheMicheleWang  6 років тому +2

      I've only been using it for about a month, and have only used it twice. So about once every two weeks. I haven't noticed increased hair growth. But the skin on my lower cheek/jawline is a little textured and I noticed the texture being a little worse after using this. So I'll prob avoid that area from now on. Other than that, I'm still enjoying it! Very effective.

  • @drea3556

    I would be scared to do this as with this type with a razor I find at least for me it causes ingrown hairs an skin aggravation. That's why I stopped waxing. I opt now for having threading to have my face cleaned up. I also don't opt for those charcoal masks either as they do work but the strip the skin.

    • @TheMicheleWang
      @TheMicheleWang  6 років тому +2

      I could never wax - I would get hives that lasted for days, and the same with threading - not as bad as waxing, but I would end up getting hives. My skin gets so irritated when it's pulled at. For some reason this shaving thing worked for me! 😂 I was really expecting some irritating, and bumps, but it's almost been a week and my skin has been fine! But yeah, you can only do what you're comfortable with. xoxoxo - will you be at VKLive?

    Did you notice this device removing dead skin, in addition to facial hair? I had microdermabrasion done recently and was discussing derma planing with the aesthetician. She said that dermaplaning allows removal of more dead skin with more precision and less irritation than microdermabrasion, and suggested that I give it a try. This device looks interesting, so I am curious as to whether it has a good exfoliating effect, or whether it is just a hair removal device, in your experience. Thank you!

    • @TheMicheleWang
      @TheMicheleWang  6 років тому +1

      Yes, I definitely feel like there's an exfoliating factor. I really can't say for sure if it's more or less than any other exfoliant. It's very gentle though, so I would say it's less than an acid or peel for sure. Maybe the same as a physical exfoliant?

    44 and 0 wrinkles! You look so amazing! Are you vegan? I’m 47 and have started perimenopause. I have some wrinkles mostly under eye bags and some crepeing. Because I’m overseas I don’t have access to something like this. I do shave regularly with a daisy razor. I hope that is ok lol! Thanks for this great share!

    • @TheMicheleWang

      From what I can see, shaving seems to be fine! 😄 And thank you so much! I am very not a vegan - probably the opposite. If I'm being "good", I try to eat Paleo which is very meat protein-based. Whenever I try vegan or vegetarian diets, my carb/sugar intake goes up and my skin is the first thing to go downhill. Are you vegan/veggie? I've seen it work wonders with people, but it unfortunately doesn't work for me.
