@@stevestroh2267 Listen Steve. With all due respect, respectfully I have to disagree. I saw The Ramones in 1984 while standing just a few feet from the stage in front of Joey. Let me tell you this new singer Marky has does come close to Joey in some ways, but I would not say he nails Joey as many people say. The reason I said I sing Joey better is because I have a very good ear, and there’s something very unique that Joey did vocally that this new singer Marky has does not do. You see Joey did something called bending vowels and changing the pronunciation of different letters. For example, in “53rd & 3rd”, written by Dee Dee who wrote most of their songs, when Joey sings the line “I proved that I’m no sissy” he pronounces it “sissay” and when he sings the line “now the cops are after me” he pronounces “me” as “meh” or sometimes “may”. In songs where there’s an “I” he sings “ahh”. On top of many vowel changes, Joey had a New York accent which this new singer doesn’t have. But the main thing is the numerous vowel changes Joey makes if you listen closely, the new singer just isn’t doing it. So for me personally, the new singer is just not doing a “nailing it” impression/impersonation of Joey. Don’t get me wrong. He does very well. And he’s got the skinny legs. But Joey’s signature look was the hair. He’s doing a good job and I know Marky’s happy with him and he’s learned pretty near the whole catalog. Since it’s his full time job, I’m sure he has more of the catalog memorized than I do. But as good as he is, I will still maintain that he’s not nailing Joey authentically vocally. Maybe more so performance wise.
@@thegodfather3316 damn, man 🤦🏻 could you tell a better singer he had in his own band? Graves? Pela does a really good job, similar voice to Joey and stage presence. Of course he is not Joey. There was only one Joey 🤦🏻
