  • As promised when I arrived here in Indonesia North Sulawesi, today after going to buy the python at the Tomohon market, here they really eat anything 😦, I'll show you how to remove the skin of the snake and how to fillet it.
    As ingredients, in addition to the Python, I used a little flour, 1 egg, some breadcrumbs and sesame seeds.

    It may just be UA-cam. You don't do any of the crazy faces for thumbnails, nor crazy titles like FRYING this MASSIVE Python to SHOW it who's BOSS. You're direct and to the point, so, naturally, you're punished...
    I love your videos, it's a refreshing sight in a sea of worthless, busy, overproduced content. You're genuine about what you do, which is a lacking characteristic everywhere nowadays
    I hope you do not get discouraged and stop uploading just because good content is left on the side in favour of content made for short attention spans and ad money. You're great. Cheers from Argentina, brother

    When I grew up in Indonesia in 70’s and 80’s . We have a relative that slaughter phyton and tan the hide for living .
    His house is full of wooden plank with phyton skin tacked to it .
    Every time we visited him . I’m VERY HAPPY . Because that mean tonight we will have deep fried snake meat for dinner.
    I missed deep fried phyton a lot .
    UA-cam algorithm is unpredictable. I think UA-cam do not present your video a lot if the audience do not engage in conversation, or comment .
    So ask the audience lots of questions and comment .
    It would build your algorithm.
    I hope Indonesia treat you well .
    Last time I went back the phyton skin / hide trade is very big . Major fashion house are still buying .

    I haven't noticed a drop in quality and the subjects are still of interest to me. Perhaps more brewing and charcuterie videos? More sauces with fermented ingredients? They seem to do well.

    Hi Andrea, great video. Sorry you're not getting so many views. Maybe try making more shorts and why not include shorts of your travels too? You visit so many cool places. I liked this snake combo, short at the market and video on the main channel.
    Or for each video, do a little short like a trailer for your new recipe

    I made a fried crocodile meat before, since in Thailand where I’m in right now, the meat is the by product of the leather, it’s pretty affordable, and I’m considering making the first crocodile salami in the world out of it using your recipes. It seems similar to snake meat.
    I love your videos, you’re the hidden gem of UA-cam, I think I want to see more of the meat curing video and maybe cheese board since it’s becoming more main stream nowadays, I think teaching us traditional recipes you might’ve learned as a local European and share it with the world would be great as well, since it will be “how the local do it” instead of some chefs babbling non sense about cooking or making it the “right way” which might not even be close to how they originally did it, many of them like to complicate things which is why your simplicity might be great in this case. Thanks for the videos as always!
    PS. I think collaborating with the other food UA-camrs or influences might be a great help for getting your channel out there!

    I think the problem is that we can’t taste or know what anything taste like that you’re making. It would be nice if you had like a guest person to taste it and then they can tell us what they think.

    Nothing wrong with your content, nor the video compilation and editing. It looks consistently good to me. I am not a YT expert by any means, but In my opinion, you might attract more views by changing the way the video title is structured. Instead of saying it just like it is, put a spin on it, such as « I Deep Fried Python and THIS is what happened!!!! ». I know it seems like hyping the video title sounds like click bait, but if you look at the view count on cooking channels that do this, you might note that the specific videos that have a high number of views, almost all have an exuberant title, which overdelivers on the actual content of the video.
    Also, increase the number of #tags associated with the video, so it will show up in more searches. For the python video you could tag it as exotic, delicious, Indonesian, cuisine, Asian, spectacular, succulent, magic, recipe etc.and maybe another 20 combinations of those descriptors - look at the tags being used on other cooking videos that are attracting high views.
    Whatever you do, don’t give up what you are doing - you just need to figure out how to beat the algorithms. Beating algorithms can feel like cheating, but it is not, since algorithms themselves, do not have a moral imperative - they adapt only to singular binary inputs.

    In response to your final question. I watch the ones that interest me. I enjoy brewing videos as an avid brewer myself. I also enjoy many cooking videos(but i skip a lot of them), I loved the "Octopus with a fork" and "blue crab" catching videos but understand that most people don't like this sort of thing unless they are fishermen themselves. There are a lot of cheese videos and honestly I skip them all because I'm never making my own cheese, it simply won't happen. So I think you do a lot of different videos and your fans only like the ones that they can relate to or are a subject that they like, then they skip the rest.

    You're one of the most unique chefs here, and I don't know others but i HATE that new nuisance called Shorts. I never watch them. I just remove them immediately. Whatever videos you post, I watch because I love whatever you make - whether it's a python in this case 😅 It's something I'd never eat, never cook because I love all animals, but I love your talent and style, so I watch.❤

    NO! Snake meat is too lean. it becomes too tough very very easily. Stew it, make soup. It has a lot of bones like fish but it wants to become tough, so keep it moist when you cook it.

    Python, it's what's for dinner. Your preparation and method were perfect for that lean protein. We eat rattlesnake in Kentucky. I've never had python, iguana or nutria but I sure would love to have a go at all of those invasive species. Thanks for sharing.

    I love your videos, I watch whenever they pop up. But my problem is that I watch from my "Recommended" feed and not from my subscribed list, so it doesn't serve me all of the videos you post. From what other creators have been saying, short form videos are a great way to get exposure and keep momentum.

    Hello Andrea, I am sorry to hear about the bad news with UA-cam. Let me assure you that your videos are excellent with the variety of topics, their quality, and style of presentation. Maybe the frequency of uploads might be an issue, as YT seems to value frequent uploads, which looks like is the reason for the recent surge in Shorts.

    In the 1970's when I was in my 20's I ate for many years at Clifton's buffet cafeteria in Los Angeles California (no longer in existence) a delicious fried eggplant without cheese. Please show us how to make it.

      Other times they were strips with same dimensions as American French fries.
      Also sometimes they were bitter something I was told decades later was due to whether it was seeded or not. Even so absolutely delicious!

    i like when you do things from scratch. like beer, wine, dried tomatoes. that sort of thing. snake and alligator is really really tough from what i understand and taste real fishy.i dont think it is worth it. but this is interesting.

    I have been a subscriber for several years now, but lately haven't seen your stuff pop up for me. I dont really check my subscriptions list though. As for your content, its great and I've tried a lot of what you presented. I can offer a little creative advice though if you will...The pacing is slow and sometimes a bit repetitive to show all the ingredients and then show them all again when you are preparing. Sometimes the preparation edits are a bit long as well. For example the full skinning of the python in this one...maybe cut it down to starting the action you are performing, then cut to the finish. I think a more alluring thumbnail might help. That scene of you holding up the python skin would have been a better clickbait for your thumbnail in this one. But overall, you have great material and its always super good. Ciao! (PS. I lived in Sulawesi for a year - what a wild place!)

    i like your recipes and I learned a lot from them :) doing shorts only kills the long format (and from what I hear is not remunerated well). Anyway, cooking python will not bring u new subscribers :)

    For many months, youtube was not recommending your videos. So since you were not at the top of my list, I didn't see you for ages. I thought you had stopped creating content - I had to go and find you. Now I am youtube premium so google is not trying to use me for ad revenue I see you again. So maybe it is the number of ads in your video that will recommend your video to non-premium watchers and I know you do not have many adverts.

    The problem I see is that UA-cam will not let me select “all” notifications. So I never see that you have made a new video until I search for your channel.
    Edit: I tried again to turn on notifications but I can’t because UA-cam says your show is not kid friendly. Which is weird it would say that as I am a fully grown adult. You should create another channel and subscribe to see what notifications you can choose.

    I think after a while people (like me, I am a subscriber) lose interest because you do everything methodically like a professor during a university lecture. Don't take it personally, but you have an energy of Pierrot. I think you need to come up with an idea to spice things up so it's not just interesting, but also fun to watch. Even if you need to decrease the number of the episodes to increase the quality of the content.
    P.S. It has been reported numerous times by other UA-camrs, but somehow UA-cam does unsubscribe people from the channels. No one knows how and why.

    Don't worry chef. Not all subscribers could watch all your videos. I myself a die-hard fan of your videos have missed out on a few. Also a few of your exotic recipes may not interest your regular subscribers because the main ingredients are not always available to everyone. For eg passion fruit or mango wine. The earlier videos were about common delicacies like cheese, cured meats, bread, pasta, pizza or wines and spirits not quite easy to make at home though widely eaten. And you showed easy and innovative methods to do it at home authentically, inexpensively and with high quality and taste that was so useful to subscribers. I guess when you shift to exotic dishes you will have lesser views with only a few wanting to try it. I wouldn't want to try this python recipe for eg simply because I wouldn't eat snakes or even find the meat in the market. In certain countries like India, it's banned to kill snakes through the wildlife protection act. Recipe videos are basically watched for replicating the dish and not out of curiosity or for entertainment. I guess that's why you have lesser number of viewers. But don't get discouraged, we all love your videos.

      Make your content shorter but maintain your personality. Right now even I scroll over your thumbnails as they don’t stand out and the titles are not interesting enough.

    There is a problem with your videos notification. Im subscribed to your channel with the bell on for all notifications but I still don't get them, I think everyone has this problem with the channel. That is why you don't get too many views
