Totally Agree on the Garcia 52. It is so solid, and built around function and Sea worthiness, Unlike most other boats that are built around wowing people at the boat show and being excellent dock cottages.
The Sirius 40 DS is seriously one of the best sailing yachts for single-handed cruising across the seven seas. She'd be my #1 choice hands down if my bank account could agree with the Sirius price list. 😉
See these close-up pics of Johan I can just see him charging into battle with his shield up and swinging a huge battle axe terrifying everyone before him.
You should spoil yourself with it one time! It´s the biggest boat show in the world for new gear and boats but for sure for sailing yachts. Its held every 3rd week of January in Düsseldorf. About 2.000 exhinbitors, 105.000m² in 17 indoor halls, 250.000 visitors from 118 countries. Hope to see you there once!
Your video was very enjoyable, with many beautiful boats presented. I agree on your choice of the Garcia,...but returning home to your family, and RAN II, you are already blessed with Everything. Thank you for sharing with us.
Cant go to the show myself but that was the next best thing! All wonderful boats and such great innovation and craftsmanship. So many say that sailboats are not what they used to be. You just showed why that may be a good thing. Thanks so much.
Sirius35, my dream boat. Everything is so well thought about, Every bit and bob has multiple uses and functiones. One can see, how much thought has gone into this boat. If i ever have a mil lying around, its yours #sirius ❤️
My favorite video..Enjoy watching it over regularly..The Explorer 52 is my favorite...The bullet proof entry helps you sleep at night in unprotected foreign Anchorage's...I've experienced not having a secured cabin at night and six bandits at two in the AM arriving too clean your boat out is no fun..I won't cruise with anything less then a Garcia ever again..Hope all is well. Thanks
Amazing innovative designs in this video. The Exploration was just stunning, we noticed radiators for heating and so many other little things. A really good comparison video guys. Thanks for sharing. Ant, Cid & the Pooch crew.
You picked the right boat. Sirius an incredible great use of space and setup, and I love the centre cabin. Love the southerly especially the interior design, so bored with dark woods. But the Garcia exploration 52 the best world cruiser and I would spec the ocean volt saildrive, diesels are just a pain.
Thank you very much! It´s my favorite too! I personally can´t imagine a better concept than a deck saloon for living on board, blue water cruising and extended cruises... as it adds not only so much comfort, but also so much safety for a small crew or single hand sailing. Than it`s a surprisingly big boat for 35 feet! Usually compares to 40to 41 feet yachts in terms of internal space and roomy feeling do to double use of space in the widest section. Thanks to the raised settee, we do not only get the great 360° all-round view, but also the space for a very spacious master cabin and the practical technical room at the very same position. The pantry gains the large floor compartments with an unbelievable amount of storage space... and whoever is cooking, is still able to look out of the window and/or steer the yacht at the same time. If you like, here is a new video out: ua-cam.com/video/9xe53AsY9dI/v-deo.html
Have been following Sirius for a few years. Looks like the are really hitting the market recently. Love all the details and superior craftsmanship that goes into these boats. Have not seen García 52 in person, but was very impressed with Exploration 45 couple of years ago at Southampton
Thanks a lot, Andrey! I am glad you like them! There has gone a lot of thought and work in the design, but behind this stands a big team who all work with love and passion and thousands of owners ideas. Lots of credit to them as well! Company going 49 years now...
Thanks for the tour of those boats Johan. Your'e right about taking the Garcia if it was free, me too but all the boats you looked at seem to be suffering from the condo disease that so many production catamarans suffer from. I would take your Najad any day. Its well thought out and beautifully designed
Loved the Garcia yacht. Lots of room for a blue water cruise.. thanks for doing the boat show videos. Until our adventures cross, fair winds and full sails. Jack and Billie never2old adventures
I have to say .... after being at the Annapolis Sailboat Shows in Maryland and visiting many of the "production" type boats there, with a few exceptions to that rule .... the boats you've shown at this show are light years ahead in design! I'm sure that comes with a price .... but just beautiful!
As a 72 year old US Merchant Mariner, having started sailing at the age of 3, this episode (Boat Show) makes me feel old. The hull design's have changed drastically in the last 10 years, with the beam ratio to LWL increasing, flat sections to the stern, etc.. Interior's are unrecognizable in comparison to what I'm accustomed to, twin rudders, retractable keels, etc.. Even the waterline bow being dramatically extended forward, forward raking stem, etc.. Standard practice of displacement type full keels are lost. Educational design concepts with this video makes me feel frightened to sail again. Jim Antrim, a San Francisco Naval Architect and close childhood friend has been telling me for 20 years, things have changed afloat and this episode has brought this home.
BTW, Johan, The GARCIA exploration yacht is THE boat, if you want a near perfect mono-hull for serious blue-water sailing. I think GARCIA has come along way, getting better every year.
;-) Thanks! Glad you liked it! Some new footage of the Sirius 40 DS out here if you like: ua-cam.com/video/U7Qby0MZ6m4/v-deo.html or this which you most likely found already!?: ua-cam.com/video/RMcxA5mDPwg/v-deo.html
Thank you for taking use with you and show all the great boats Yes your choosing of your dream boat would be the boat for many of us! But I would personally would go with the Sirius 35. I think it would be a great boat for the Westcoast of BC
Thanks for your vote. I am gad you liked it between this other awsome and dedicated boats. There is a new video out from 48°north magazine testing the Sirius 40 DS in the Pacific-north-west if you care: ua-cam.com/video/U7Qby0MZ6m4/v-deo.html or one of them beeing built: ua-cam.com/video/f7upfeSGJwU/v-deo.html a very nice one with good english subtitels of the Sirius 35 DS here ua-cam.com/video/NcVVsEnUBUc/v-deo.html&lc=z23rwfehynfqijkxb04t1aokglalr2efuitr2ccvdausbk0h00410.1582479078244963
Hi Guys, greetings from the cockpit of Distant Shores lll in Shelter Bay Panama. Paul and Sheryl say Hi and thanks for the mention. Im having a great time with them just completing one of the sail a way holidays from George Town, Bahamas to Panama and hopefully going though the canal early next week. Great video as always, love the Garcia but I’m saving for the Sirius 35 DS or maybe go sooner with a used Najad 39, Major Tom (Swedish country men and UA-camrs) is also here today.
Thank you! I am glad you liked it between all his other fantastic boats. Here´s another nice video of it with very good english subtitles: ua-cam.com/video/NcVVsEnUBUc/v-deo.html&lc=z23rwfehynfqijkxb04t1aokglalr2efuitr2ccvdausbk0h00410.1582479078244963 and one which was made in (my kind of) english directly: ua-cam.com/video/y-v-h50KZgM/v-deo.html
I agree with you on the Garcia. That would be my pick as well. My last one was an 89 Morgan 41 OffShore. The Garcia would be irresistible to me if it were a true center cockpit.
Sense of adventure is a good thing if you have a particular project in mind with a beginning and an end, for instance a circumnavigation. But for those who become permanent liveaboards with a child for an undefined amount of time, comfort probably trumps the sense of adventure.
The new Moody design looks incredible compared to the old 30 foot Moody we had growing up. Love the raised deck salon and the wrap around bulwark... but don't you think it strange there are no drainage ports alongside - I mean, what happens when you take one over the bow? Looks like you would get a deluge of water channeled straight back to the cockpit ...and those moldings wrap right around the helm stations don't they? Maybe I'm not seeing something. I do like the white interior paneling on some of these modern boats. it creates a nice bright open feel to the living space.
Great show, interesting to see what is available and whats new, l particularly liked the movable helm on the Sirius, very clever engineering. The other thing that impressed me was the aluminum hull boats, all the through hull inlets were above the water line, excellent idea. Nice video, thanks for taking us along. Fair winds and safe travels.
Thank you for the review of Düsseldorf Boatshow Johan. Garcia will also be my choice, if I had the change a Garcia 45 will be perfect. I have followed the Garcia and the Boreal 47 a couple of years, both boats has a perfect concept to enjoy sea life for all latitudes.
Wonderful production & presentation as usual mate. For my retirement I have been researching yachts for around a year now & Garica Yachts are the leading contender by a wide margin. The Garcia yacht is in my opinion the perfect boat. The interior is not overly luxurious,it’s pleasant without looking bland. This boat may sacrifice a bit of boat speed due to it’s heavy weight, but should Mother Nature have a tantrum there’s no safer yacht to take a good spanking in whilst at sea. The yachts that have the luxurious interiors are spectacular, but all that comes with to much maintenance & cleaning. The exploration has the correct balance & the cockpit area looking forward is perfect. The 52ft boat can Carry up to 1200 litres of fuel & around 1000 litres of water.Best of luck getting one for free, lol.🤞
Nice boats and happy you were able to show us some through your video, Thank you, I prefer a cruiser that can perform well under sail but that exploration was something else wow
What a beautybeast. I also love Garcia. And I was curious about these Sirius, glad it's not too much a gimick. Curious about the quality. Your friends seem very cool Johan... you all make me miss Europa.
I'd absolutely love to see a Sirius 45-48. I think they could run away with it in that range. Incredibly solid build and ingenious design solutions. And the Garcia 45/52 is stunning in every way.
I´d love a Sirius 48 DS as well, please :-), but if we believe the many testing magazines she already offers the equivalent interior space of a 47-48. But honestly, there will be a larger Sirius once...but we do struggle to understand where you will need more space. She already features 3 spacious double staterooms, two heads and the workshop. Apart from waterline length for more hull speed we are still searching for additional rectifications for going bigger. Maybe a dingy garage instead of the davits? … or three instead of 2 of the 3 cabins big enough to be master cabins? …more ideas anybody???
@@SiriusYachts Even a 45 would be enough. At 6'3" and about 100 kilos, I think I want a bit more elbow room, storage in the cabins, and a bit more cold/freezer storage. The galley seems a little tight to me. I absolutely cannot deny, though, the ingenious use of space in the 40.
@@pnwesty7174 yes, I can see this. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. At times I could top you weight ;-) but am only 6`1". But there should not be a problem as the saloon area is more than 7" and below areas could be 6`8" and more. (we even raise the floors in the below areas artificially as this looks not right for average tall people. Moving with 3 people around the galley might feel a bit tight but very safe in a seaway. There is 130l + 50l cooling and freezing storage already but if your are of sailing does not keep the bottom storages cold enough any of them could be converted to a freezer or fridge box. Some customers on our smaller boats decide on a car trunk freezer as a seat in the work shop. A bigger Sirius would generate more of all of this naturally but I am still searching for additional functions and rectifications…
very interesting Johan, i'm always amazed why visitors think it's OK to disturb the beds and leave them a mess, hope the three of you are well, kindest regards
I saw that garcia before. Sick boat. For my purposes i would be more then happy with sirius 35ds. Lots of great boats out there, thing is, u have to chose one that matches your sail plan
I do like the Garcia as well for her dedication, but glad you liked the Sirius 35 DS! If you like you can dfind some more footage about it here: ua-cam.com/video/y-v-h50KZgM/v-deo.html and about the 4Sirius 40 DS here: ua-cam.com/video/RMcxA5mDPwg/v-deo.html
Some wonderful vessels there, I went on board the moody at Southampton, an amazing yacht! The rep said they were taking orders from catamaran owners and motor boat owners too, bit out of my price range but the decks gave you a fantastic sense of security, great to see everything, I think we have similar tastes in yachts :-)
I'll most like never come close to having the money needed, but that Discovery 48 Revelation would be mine as soon as I did. Perfect for a couple and part time guest. Room where it's most important, an actual protected double helms.
There is a very good video of the Garcia Explorer by an owner who covers many more features. Apart from the major features it is little things such a suction vent high up to draw moisture from ceiling height in the main living area. I know, though, that I would love to see your and Marlin’s shallow draft Garcia adventures, that would be an education. Expected winds in Stellendam today peaking 67 knots. We’re getting the full sailing experience without leaving the dock.
If price was no object, I would probably want a "J" boat but to be realistic, S.V. Delos has me sold on Amel ! For me there is a tie between Aluminum and Wood for a hull - Glass is out. I think I would lean toward Beneteau or HR as possible alternative to Amel. I can't be happy with any sailboat that can get up 10 knots so if I must give up some comfort or appearance I'm willing. It's tough to go thru life after your first, childhood, sailing experience of 5 years was on a 1911 Herreshoff 59' sloop that I personally saw the 12 Knot Kenyon Gage pinned on multiple occasions. sdh in CT, USA
So many nice boats here, normally I hear just about catamarans. With not having the prices showing, they are just making sure people don´t get confused because the prices can vary depending on what you want. For an example the price you got from one boat jumped all the way to 900 to 1 million (in US dollars or it would be up to a billion in Deutsch) ja да
The Garcia is a nice choice. It’s still very tight in the technical spaces, but the hull and Globe trotting features of the boat are unparalleled in a boat this size and sail away cost. Tip: unless you like the burn, eat really spicy food with a generous dollop of rice or other heavily starchy foods.
Johan, great review of all of the boats. I liked that you gave a thumbs up to the Discovery 48 for it's innovation. It's a very good cruising boat. I liked your review of the two Sirius boats. I particularly like the design of the Sirius 40 which offers a tremendous amount of boat and comfort for it's size but if you have seen the companies video of how it handles with it's unique flexible helm and how easy it is to manoeuvre in tight spaces it is a exceptional boat for it's size and also well-suited for northern climates where you need to get out of the weather. It is definitely one of my favourites and one of the most affordable boats on the market. It's too bad you didn't get a chance to look at the OVNI or the Alubat line of boats. And last but not least the Garcia 52 is one of the best designed, bullet-proof, blue-water boats on the market. At the same time I recently saw a review of the Fountaine Pajot SABA 50 catamaran which is a very comfortable, highly stable, high-speed cat. Compared with monohulls it is a great alternative in my opinion. Heeling over while underway is not that comfortable.
Thanks for your vote. I am gad you liked it between this other awsome and dedicated boats. There is a new video out from 48°north magazine testing the Sirius 40 DS if you care: ua-cam.com/video/U7Qby0MZ6m4/v-deo.html or one of it beeing built: ua-cam.com/video/f7upfeSGJwU/v-deo.html, and for otheres the one you are referring to: ua-cam.com/video/RMcxA5mDPwg/v-deo.html
When Sirrus gets serious and build a longer boat, then that is one of my favorite boat. I like this boat, I only wish they went a bit longer, but I love the work shop area and living in the deck salon. The Moody is another favorite of mine, because of the deck salon again. I wish Sirrus would make one in this size, I can only image how invented they would be. The Garcia is the king of aluminum boats no doubt. From what I have view on UA-cam from other channels, there is to much there, 17 buildings, is just to much for one tour.
I´d love a Sirius 48 DS as well, please :-), but if we believe the many testing magazines she already offers the equivalent interior space of a 47-48. @@SiriusYachts The 40DS is a great use of space! Very impressive design. Love the mid-ship master cabin option. Really no reason to go longer unless one is looking for a little extra hull speed or just has money to burn. I'm a fan! Well done.
Thank you, for taking the time to come and visit us. Was great having you on board!
The comment at the end is so true. There is huge value in being able to compare so many boats in short succession. Thanks for sharing guys.
The Sirius is head and shoulders above anybody else. Innovative as well and quality is worth the money.
Wow, thank you very much for those praises in a row of such fantastic boats!

Nice report Johan, well done .
The Sirius 40 is lovely.. one to have and live on by 2 persons.
Moody 44 got my attention now.
it’s fun seeing the new stuff, but I sure do love the what you just bought, the Najad is such a classically beautiful sailboat.
Ahhhh the Garcia! Just love their boats. Great episode as always!!!
Hopefully you got some good ideas for a few modifications to the new RAN. Can’t wait until you start cruising again!👍✌️😊🙏🏼⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️
Love the Sirus 40 DS, it is on my list! Thanks for another great vid!

Totally agree on the Garcia Exploration!
Truly enjoyed your boat show visit via video.....thank you!
Thank you for this wonderful tour
Indeed, the Garcia 52 looks beautiful inside and out. When you receive yours Johan ask if there is another being given away. We can dream, right!? ;)
Love those plumb bows . . .
That Garcia Exploration at the beginning would be my dream come true. And any H.Rassy around 40-45 ft. for sure
The Garcia already hit its first obstacle. Money.
FREE BOAT! I think we are all there, where do we line up! You're living the dream.
Very good walk threw
Johan there’s no surprise you would take the Garcia. And I’d be quite happy with an Ovni if the budget was tight!
I need to rename that floating object that I own after seeing this video :)
BTW, Johan, The GARCIA exploration yacht is THE boat, if you want a near perfect mono-hull for serious blue-water sailing. I think GARCIA has come along way, getting better every year.
Personally I prefer boreal

You could do some icebeaking in the arctic with that Garcia. Lol

Garcia 52 is also my absolute nr.1 , Sirius 40 is nr. 2 !!!!!
I agree, the Garcia 52 is one awesome boat! But the Najad you purchased would suit me just fine!
The Garcia is my choice because it would fit right into sailing the west coast of Canada. Beautifully built and very sturdy.
SIrius is my top pick the 35DS to be more exakt !
Just love the Moody boats, so comfortable and “big” that would be my choice. Love the wide beam boats, cheaper than the catamaran but just as spacious
Nice boat but I would not like to try and use the Galley whilst healed over. One of the reasons I like the Sirius better.

The movable helm is made by Jefa rudders from Denmark. They can be installed on many kinds of boats.
Thank You nice to see single hulls properly
Thank you for the review of Düsseldorf Boatshow Johan. Garcia will also be my choice, if I had the change a Garcia 45 will be perfect. I have followed the Garcia and the Boreal 47 a couple of years, both boats has a perfect concept to enjoy sea life for all latitudes.
Yes, the Garcia eschews the trendy for the engineered, the momentary for the long term...voyages robust and voyages sublime...that is some boat...
I'm with you Johan... That Exploration 52 is some serious boat....
Shame the years are catching me up so its now a Bering for me now.... lol.
Just buy it for them hint hint
Nice boats and happy you were able to show us some through your video, Thank you, I prefer a cruiser that can perform well under sail but that exploration was something else wow
Love that Southerly boat...
I'm liking the Hallberg Rassey 40C.

Amazing boat show.
Yes the Amels are nice boats for sure! They had their 60 ft flagship at the show but it was to crowded and had a waiting list to have a look...
I totally agree with you about the Garcia i would have taken the 45 one
It’s also my dream monohull!
Some really nice boats there
That Garcia could be a dream boat for me as well. That is really a blue water boat!!! Although it doesn't have to be that big.
I am really interesting sirius longer boat too. Just wish better than moody :-)

@@SiriusYachts The 40DS is a great use of space! Very impressive design. Love the mid-ship master cabin option. Really no reason to go longer unless one is looking for a little extra hull speed or just has money to burn. I'm a fan! Well done.
@@mountaindweller9118 thanks for the compliment!
I liked the 2 Sirius yachts. As a solo sailor I think the smaller would do me
I totally agree. Sadly, way to expensive for me. :(
@@ToastandJam52 and me. I was hoping to win the lotto tonight so I could order 😢😢😂😂😂😂
@@thecivvie That's also my motive for playing the Lotto. When I win it's going to make a yacht broker very happy.
They have been making excellent boats in this design since the 90'ties. Some are quite affordable.
That Sirius 40 with a dual keel for drying out on a river bed, is too die for!
