    cats make *everything* better, haha. as a left-handed newbie, i appreciate you actually showing the process for a lefty, instead of just saying "...and if you're left-handed, just mirror this" or something similar. thank you!

    Thanks for the reminder Sarah. Always glad of some revision.
    Phoebe is purring to Ginger Cat! She believes that every stitcher needs feline supervision and this time Peter is in complete agreement. She also believes that anyone in the kitchen also needs her supervision, so baking one cake and starting to decorate another this evening could get interesting!

    Is the trick having the material taught? Everyone says embroidery is fun, embroidery is easy, embroidery is relaxing and i believed them and it was until i tried to make a French knot. I end up with a dot on the material where the knot should be actually I managed to do a French knot on the reverse of my work. I hope you have some idea of where I’m going wrong. Hugs and Loves xx

      I don't understand the question Kathleen, a new thread?

    • @KathleenMaryK
      @KathleenMaryK Рік тому

      If I'm starting my French knots with a fresh piece of cotton, how can I keep the thread tight while doing the French knot, as I'm having to hold the loop at the back with one hand. 🙂

    Years ago I did something called candlewicking. It was cream colored thread on cream colored muslin. It was all French knots, I think. Is that something you’ve heard of? Am I remembering it correctly?

    • @SarahHomfrayEmbroidery
      @SarahHomfrayEmbroidery  2 роки тому +1

      I think candlewicking uses colonial knots Janet; like a french knot with an extra wrap to it (see our video on colonial knots!) but yes otherwise I think you are remembering it right! A good example of people using the materials they could readily get!
