- A marmite kind of fly, salmon anglers seem to love it or hate it, the silver Wilkinson.
Here I tie a very popular variant devised by @AndrewMcGall. This long tailed version has been very successful across Ireland and beyond. Check out Andrew's Magic Number 7 video to see just how effective this one one morning spring salmon fly fishing on the river Finn.

The Wilkinson used to be a very popular fly... I always had one on the dropper when fresh fish were running. For some reason I stopped and I don't know why... especially when I fish the Finn. Great vid again Seán. 😉👍 Cheers James
It seems to do really well on the Finn doesn't it James? I don't put it on often myself but will definitely give it a go more this spring after Andrew's video 👌
Great pattern and nicely done Sean 👏🎣😊👍
Awesome fly tying, 👍👊
@@magnetchi thanks very much Tommy 👍
@@AndrewMcGall cheers Andrew, plan to tie a few coneheads to add to the box too. Still blown away by that video, loved watching every minute of it👍
Hello Sean,,,this is a awesome fly...i have a question about the hook you use. What brand and size do you use for this kind of flies. Thank you very much for the answer.
@@toncremers9776 hi Ton, this is a Kamasan b175, a very strong trout hook stronger than most salmon singles. I think that one was a size 8 👍
@@SeánWoodsFishing Thank you very much for the answer...so i go to order some hooks.
