Taking a wild guess, that the majority of the community would prefer keeping their thralls over not having the living settlements feature enabled until it is fixed.
It'isn't like the forums aren't on fire, or anything, heh... oh, believe me, they have known about this and asked to do just that at least since the 17th, I should know because I too posted this very same issues in the official bug report forum at Funcom that same day... It has over 1.7k views.
I am so glad I did a simple test on a live server of planting a single crafter for a day to see what happens and it poofed. I feel so sorry for those guilds that repositioned all their crafters only to have them disappear at some point. Think I'm on a break from this game for a while. Will log in weekly to preserve builds, but it looks like Funcom did not think this one through and I fear a delayed rollback to replace poofed thralls.
Andy just made an official announcement in the Funcom forums they are disabling the living settlement feature on officials temporarily till a patch can be rolled out
LOL. So one of the primary elements of the Age has to be disabled for the Age to work properly? Awesome. Just like the previous Age with the jacked up purge which took Ages (pun intended) to fix.
This is what our group did 2 days ago. We lost all our thralls, even rescued ones disappeared within an hour or so again. We're on a private server so our admin turned LS off and even spawned our named thralls back for us. It's been 2 days and all our thralls are still at their benches. 🤞
I just provided my crafters with sufficient beds, chairs, and fireplaces. So far none of them have wandered off, and my private server has been running since the chapter started. If you have a bar active you do need a heckload more chairs than you ever think you will.
Same here I don't believe ive had a single thrall disappear , I'm playing a co-op save with the bf and our rp base has many benches chairs beds ect. Could explain why the trolls are disappearing no place for them to go when not at the crafting benches
Attention exiles! Funcom is planning on disabling the living settlement feature for the official servers this weekend. Until then, if you play on an official server, you must select every single item in your base a thrall can interact with -- chairs, beds, fireplaces, workbenches, etc -- and switch it to 'Disable Thrall Use'. And I do mean, every single item. If you miss one this will not work. Once you've disabled all items, your crafter thralls will no longer move at all but this does mean they will no longer vanish into the ether.
I can confirm that doing this works. It definitely stops the crafters from disappearing. Now to some how get back the 7 crafters I lost. Thank you Wak for this informative video as always well done.
Most disappointing is Funcom's silence... At least I can't find anything official... An acknowledgement of issues, along with apology and commitment to a fix, would express respect for their players.
Actually they just did on the Funcom forum site under news and announcements. Andy B acknowledges that there is an issue soon to be hotfixed but offers a temporary band aid solution in the meantime, that isn't particularly helpful.
Are you new? There are still day one bugs in this game. Funcom does not care, they want your microtransaction money and that’s it. Guarantee if the store bugged out they’d fix it the same day.
@@stacktus9158 Are you talking to me? If so you may need to get your eyes examined so you can reread what I wrote. Since what I wrote has nothing to do with your comment to me.
Did this a few days ago on our private server. I was relieved since I lost 2 of my crafters while living settlements was checked. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get specific crafters to make armour and weapons since multiple crafters can be assigned to multiple benches at the same time.
At least there's a bandaid! I honestly don't think that Funcom tested this or they added something after the testlive. But Funcom would "never" add anything to the final version unless it were "pineapple on pizza" or it would be an "unintended consequences."
Worked on a couple private servers this one has been on. Also, Funcom has noted they will be implementing it on officials this weekend. There's a post in the forums.
I didn't know about this bug at first. But while wandering through the highlands in single-player admin mode building stuff for fun, I came across ally thralls just floating in the air and was confused lol.
Looks like the worker thalls living settlement movement is tied to Tavern Patron movement which could be why some people see their worker thralls floating in the air.
Glad I started a new save after the update. As I get crafter thralls I just put a fence around the benches so they can't wander off. I have had 1 npc teleport out of a locked room to reach my alter but I've since fenced that in as well. I'm on official server so hoping that keeps them at home . You can also disable the feature on individual thralls if you are worried about it on a server you have no control over.
Wait, there is some kind of connection with NPC Tavern patrons and player crafter thralls?! As in the system tries to delete your crafters as if they were despawning NPCs? Good going Funcom!
it works on my solo. My admin for my hosted games is pretty much waiting on these issues to be patched before we setup a server. This is good news if it works!
New to playing Conan, so playing solo so I can learn mechanics and basics. I have lost one or two thralls so far. Just turned off the living civilization so I will keep an eye out over the next day!
Didn’t take all day… after a little over an hour’s gametime I lost my armor guy. I did put my smelter into the green slot, so fingers crossed she doesn’t poof.😢
Well I already know that since I started playing a single player game to test things out. How ever it was already turned off and I actually turned it on so I can test if they can get out surrounded by water and some fence. I think they teleport because I lost another taskmaster on an online server even if the whole wheel of pain was surrounded by fence.
Currently playing on Siptah. I've been sporadically testing thralls since Living Settlements went live. While I haven't had any vanish, I did watch a Tanner wander off of her bench, meander through my base and out the front gate. This is, just to say, that while I haven't had any just outright disappear, I have watched them attempt to wander off. I'll give your fix a shot later to see if that fixes the issue, however.
I had a cook fall from 0 0 0 and make his way to a campfire I'd left the other side of the aqueduct at the lakeside hut, he was just out of aggro range for the npcs there.
how would you change the server setting without loading the save first which causes the crafter to be deleted on load. all the barkeeps are instantly gone once you load the save, including ones placed on cauldrons not just bars.
I see a barkeeper in the background. In addition to the bug where the crafters randomly disappear, there seems to be another bug where all barkeepers just blipped out of existence immediately when the patch got applied. Does turning off living settlements also prevent loss of barkeepers? I turned off living settlements and then loaded up a pre-patch single-player backup file, and my lost crafters were all back in their bench inventory. But the barkeepers are all still missing. Any trick there, or did you just get/spawn a new one already?
I'm so sad. My 3 tier palace I spent hours and hours on is now lifeless with Living Settlements. Ironic... instead of standing at their stations and working, or where I placed them emoting, they clip into tables while sitting, stand ontop of them frozen or all try to go through the same doorway in an infinite traffic jam.
Single player so i know that is different thebn seevers. I did it very shortly after thw update I placed them and noticed them not showing up later. I was able to get all mine back. A lot were at that location floating. I had to rescue 2 since they were stuck "returning home" for hours but I thankfully didn't loose any to have to keep track of.
Anyone else feel that the "Living Settlement" actually does the opposite? Empty crafting tables feels pretty barren. The occasional walking around doesn't overcome this. Not a fan
Wait...so patrons pop up in 0,0,0? Does this mean I get all tavern thrall potentials if I camp that spot and just buy whatever patrons other players didn't get to?
i logged into my base for the first time after the new update and all my crafters were gone out of every single bench which really ticks me off. Funcom once again taking all the fun out of Conan.
All you need to do is place them on a chair facing a table. When the thrall stands up thay will get stuck on the table and enter GUARDING stance automatically and they wont wander all over the place.
So far turning off the living settlements has worked and none of my crafters are getting deleted. Also we tried this a few days ago and it is working for now anyway.

Do not put too much hope into this... I am soloing on xbox, unchecked living settlements a couple of days ago, but 1st, my derketo archpriest ended up at 0-0-0, 2nd, there is a 90% chance that the game crashes when you try to put someone in the bench ghost spots :( yeah, age of bugs it is.
So the way to fix the latest bug is to reverse the update? SNAFU.
I think I have a better fix give them a bed in your base and gruel in their inventory we have no more problem with thralls disappearing 🎉
