You have the perfect balcony for the half square to. Look a tree for horizontal plus far side vertical back to your block and vertical below you. Perfect dx antenna wooowooo lol
Jim buddy! Wooohooo! Thanks so much for stopping by buddy and watching the video. It really suprised me how well it worked - and in fact, I'm working on a 2.0 version to this hahaha. Cheers my friend!
hahaa you're too kind buddy. I'm actually going to get this out later today for 10 meters when the repeater opens up out here in the west. Woohooo! Cheers buddy and happy DX!
G’day Stuart - best of luck for your test buddy. Keep me posted on how it goes mate. I really appreciate you swinging by and leaving a comment. Cheers mate
Cool idea. I'm planning to order up some terminal blocks this week lol. From a practical standpoint, it's probably a good idea to use different color wire for the center and shield. Love the alligator clips. I'll definitely be incorporating them into my design 👍
Hey buddy, absolutely fantastic! These terminal blocks are just the greatest- and the flexibility to be able to interchange them is so cool. I totally agree about the wire colours, hahaa it was what I had lying around, and was thinking 'after the fact - doh! I should have used different coloured wires' hahah. Cheers mate and happy building! Keep me posted on how you're doing. Cheers
This is great stuff for new people to show you don't need all the fancy stuff, well except the ICOM.....Your neighbours must think you're the full cashew.....
Hahaha, oh yes I get some funny looks from them buddy and you should have seen the looks I got when I was walking around the 'hood' with a magloop on my shoulders hahahaha. Wooohooo!
Hey Tom buddy, thanks as always for swinging by buddy! Something like this would be awesome for you on layovers? ultra lightweight multibander etc. You're awesome! Cheers and beers mate
@@thehamjazz Right on Simon! That's what I was thinking when I saw you attach the antenna to the deck railing. Always inventive and fun Simon! Thanks! 👍
This is great, thanks so much for sharing! I'm just getting started in this world, so apologies if this is a dumb question: 1) do you not need a balun/common mode choke to feed the vhf dipole into the radio? Thanks again! 73
Hey buddy no such thing as a dumb question mate. If your antenna is generally resonant you don't need a choke, but having said that I would recommend it. I've done both and never really had any issues. Happy building mate! Keep me posted on how it goes. Cheers!
@@thehamjazz You're a pro! Thanks a ton for that. I gave it a go and it's working great :) Your video got me super interested into antennas. Reading around there's always a mention of a balun/choke, hence my question. I just got my license a month ago, and today my first HF radio. Hope to see you soon on the waves. Cheers from Spain. 73 mate. EA3IXL
HAHHAHAA Darin buddy, that's a classic hahaha. Yes mate, it is real grass - well it is a clover patch, haahahaha. Hope you're doing great buddy, thanks for dropping by
Thanks buddy. I was even thinking of UHF as well, but I never really use it, so thought I would just cut it at 2 meters. Thanks so much for your comment mate. Wooohoooo! See ya on the air. Cheers
16.6 vertical 2 feet off floor free hanging down 1 horizontal continuous to it so that is from block 51.6 feet then 1 16.6 counterpoise vertical below free hanging 2 ft off floor coax 90 degrees off block to radio no tuna needed 😂 lol then give me a shout on 20 m. Lol
Hahaha buddy, that is a SENSATIONAL idea hmmmm I gotta get to work on this idea, I would have to make it portable as my wife won't allow our yard to become an antenna farm hahaha. Hope you're doing great buddy - really appreciate all of your support mate. wooohooo! Cheers
@@morecambeanglersandtrawler1074 Fantastic buddy! That's really cool. Hey! The weather is nice here, this Sunday we put our watches BACK sadly, so I'm going to head out to the park with the tape measure again today at 23:00UTC for another Grey Line. Hope to see ya on the air buddy woohooo
