Code P0420 or ECM 4201 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Troubleshooting Solution PART 1of2

Yes, this Volvo V70 that I got before winter last year has received an error code. The check engine light came on about 1 month after I bought the car. The error code shown was P0420 or can also be called ECM-4201 and means that the catalytic converter is not cleaning optimally. This error code is actually one of the most common errors that car workshops are tasked with by customers to fix. You might think that because the error code says that it is the catalytic converter that is not working as well as it should, that the catalytic converter is at fault, but this is not always the case. In this 2 part video we will troubleshoot and test the most common to fix and resolve this issue.
The error code P0031 and P0131 that you see on the diagnosis tool Icarsoft in this video is because I tried a different oxygen sensor Bank 1 sensor 1 i.e. the one before the catalytic converter. Unfortunately, this oxygen sensor did not match and was actually for a completely different chassis number, so therefore I got these error codes in addition to the error code that the video is actually about.
