Okay. I actually like the knowledge you shared. Very insightful. I will be watching all your videos because I am really applying for PHD programs. Thank you.
Hi Dr. Padilla, doing a PhD wasn't on top of my list but this one specific research topic really caught my eye and have been dealing with this question for the past couple of days and your videos have been really helpful. If i don't get into this program I don't think I'll apply for another one anytime soon, or atleast until I find something as cool as this. Is it okay to be so selective? I am not really competitive yet expect for I got a job right after my master's. A lot of people talk about the dreary bits of doing a PhD, and I haven't really thought about it being 3-4 years long, I only see that by the end of my program, I'll have a really cool project/thesis which can be helpful to the next set of scientists. Is it okay to be so idk if it's the right word but oblivious? Thank you for your time and your videos
I think it's perfectly fine to be selective! If you know exactly which lab you want to work with, you can tailor your CV and experiences to make yourself more competitive for that specific group. I encourage you to reach out to the people you're interested in working with and see if you can volunteer in their lab. This will significantly improve your chances of being accepted. Think of it as a trial run for both you and them to determine if you're a good fit for their work.
Hi I am in my late thirties and a CAM practitioner with 10 yrs of experience. Currently doing masters in psychology from SNHU online. It is research oriented and loved it. Thinking of applying to phD after completing my masters. Do you think age could prove the effort and time invested go waste?not enough chances for a fresh start of profession? In academia or industry ? Thankyou Dr padilla for your insightful video
