Splendid concert. And yes sometimes things went wrong, it is live! I follow Clapton for many years and he is still the best guitar player we know in this world. And yes opinions differ. So what. I only saw people who enjoyed Eric! And hope to see him for years! 🥰🥰

I agree. I still feel inspired. You can argue about the light show and lack of verbal communication. But he is all about the music. A real artist. Soul and genius meet virtuosity.

Danke. Also nochmals danke.

Fantastic solo on I Shot The Sheriff, but on White Room he seemed to tense up, lose the flow, and then ended the solo before it really got going. I listened to Sunshine Of Your Love from the same concert and I thought the solo was great. He used elements of the original Cream rendition as a template and then improvised off of that. In White Room he seemed to just play a bunch of random licks with no cohesion. I know I'm venturing into dangerous territory with these comments. I realize he's no longer a young man. I've been a huge fan of his since the 1970s. He inspired me to play guitar. I've learned almost all of his biggest songs and I've played them in local bands for 35 years. I'll never be famous, but I am a respected guitar player and teacher locally. I have nothing but respect and reverence for this man, but in my humble opinion, I think he could benefit from listening to some of the epic solos he's played on White Room over the years, especially his versions from Live Aid and 24 Nights.

I saw him back in September and was only 14 rows away and he tore it down. The ONLY thing I wished he had done different was he literally didn't play a single Cream song. I would have killed for Badge or White Room but he definitely doesn't play the Cream stuff with its original intensity. That band was just an absolute moment in time. I feel like the closest his playing ever got to that period again was in the From The Cradle era. There is just something about a Gibson that brings out an absolute animal in his playing.

I’m sure he’ll take your criticism onboard when he reads your comment

I disagree. I love the solo on White room. It’s fast and fluid and on a wah wah. One of the better versions of this IMO. Whereas the solo on I shot the sheriff doesn’t sound anywhere near as good as other versions such as Crossroads 2004 and although it’s still great it’s a very average version

@@jbawn When I saw Clapton in Nashville back in September the version of I Shot The Sheriff that night was really great. Also the jam on Got To Get Better In A Little While was awesome too. That was when he was first getting back out on the road and he was really playing pretty passionately that night. Doyle Bramhall and Marcus King were also on fire and Jimmy Vaughan opened up and played great as well.
