With that Hornaday not cycling is a good reminder to try different ammo in anything that you'd use as a defensive gun. Not every gun like the same ammo, the accuracy or the reliability. Recently my buddy got one of these for his father, so we took him and the gun out to run it and make sure he could operate it. Everything we ran cycled and his dad was able to run it , and reload the mags with a uplula. Always enjoy watching you two together having fun and shooting together. Thanks for taking us along, you guys are great shots

I have this pistol and bought it for my wife to use as a home defense weapon. It's a pleasure to shoot and has very little to no recoil. Shoots more like a 22. This is a great pistol to introduce to someone who is new to shooting. And it's a great price point too. I believe I paid just under $300 for it and it was well worth it.

.380 fan boy here, and I was very excited to hear your reaction to this pistol! .380 is my go-to for fun pistols! Currently, I have 2 Beretta's (Model 84 & 85), 2 Bersa's (Firestorm & Thunder), & 2 Ruger's (LCP MAX & Security .380). All of my .380's have had 600+ rounds through them to include BOTH my Ruger's. The LCP MAX is with me every time I leave the house. And the Security 380 is now hip carry (Urban Carry Lock Leather) when I am dove hunting. I love the Security .380! 380's are notorious for causing "web of hand' issues (see: blow back operation) after about 50 rounds or so. I can testify that my Beretta's, while beautiful and flawlessly functional, they can be a problem to those that don't shoot .380's often! The Bersa's, while less of an issue than the Berettas, they too can fatigue the hand after a box or 2 at the range! The LCP MAX, in stock configuration, doesn't seem to give that same effect, at least not until the 3rd box or so. Now on to the Security .380, In addition to the extremely lite slide racking, the recoil is like that of a .22 MAG handgun! As in there is virtually zero felt recoil. Watch the video, and you will see that there is "22 like" recoil from both shooters! As a result of that lack of felt recoil, the pistol lends it self for quick & accurate follow-up shots. Typically double & triple taps happen on the regular while I am out on the range. Its just a breeze to shoot and way easy to go through 5-6 boxes at an outing without any effort! Many years ago I carried a 13 round .380 acp made by Taurus.. it was a clone of the Beretta .380. I believe it was a model 85. I wish I had never parted with it.
I had one of those. Picked it up at a gun show several years back. It was a very decent pistol. I wish I had kept it too. Oh, I think they were called the model 58. The 85 was the Taurus 5 shot 38 snub nose revolver. They are decent little guns also. My wife had 3 or 4 over the years that she carried.
I have one of these. Ive had it for several months. What I suggest is taking the gun apart, cleaning and lubing it, then racking the slide several hundred times. I can't speak for hollow points and stuff like that, but FMJ has shot just fine for me out of my gun.
Yeah, I had to give a credit. It’s a new gun like you said you had one failure the fire, and the barrel get a little bit hot. Well it’s not meant for extended range use is meant for self-defense at close in distances of 50 yards or less so I think it looks really cool and with all the features that you described, I would call the Best Buy. Thanks for the review.
I was thinking the hot barrel would be non issue since it's not meant for high round shooting. I suppose having several people shooting a few magazines each could happen.
Great video, sir! My wife and I will be buying one of these for her mom this weekend. It's been on our radar for a bit, but your analysis sealed the deal. Thanks! 🍻
I kind of like that little Ruger. My wife's shoulder replacement is why I bought her the tip up barrel Beretta Bobcat. When the orthopedic surgeon was evaluating what she expected after her replacement, she told him that she wanted to be able to shoot her Hi Power 9mm. He just smiled and said he knew how she felt.
Hey there Mixup, neat little 380, I like the larger pistols chambered for it. Gun Sam has tested a lot of 380 ammo in jell and the hollow points rarely open, and when they do the bullet tends to really underpenetrate. I think I'll be sticking with the Underwood Extreme Defender line of 380 personally. Hope momma likes her Ruger. God bless, Rob
Thanks! My wife had shoulder surgery also and it really affected her strength. I appreciate this particular review just for that reason alone. Besides me enjoying you two outside having fun.
I picked up the lcp max month's back. Its the best pocket carry pistol i have tried. I am looking at the security 380 for my aunt. She has grip/hand issues
In my opinion, you wont regret the Security .380 purchase at all! Except when it coms to feeding it, .380 can be a tad bit expensive, but is reasonable price when you look research enough on line! Livin my best La Vida Loca here in south eastern Arizona
I know how your wife feels I got torn rotator cuff in my left arm and I have a rough time racking the slides on my g3c great video I enjoy them love to watch you and your son, blessings and greetings from Kentucky
I understand about needing confidence. It might not be the gun itself. The problem came with a fully loaded 15-rd mag. The mag spring might need to loosen up, or different hollow-point ammo might help. Perhaps next time you shoot this you can add 11 ball rounds topped off by 4-Hollow-Point rounds that get fed first with a loaded spring.
I bought one of these recently, a so far I really like it. It has run the ammo I’ve put through it with no issues. The big plus for me is the light recoil, which makes it easier to put shots on target. I like it.
Ruger makes good stuff. Maybe not quite as refined as Smith & Wesson but they don't cost as much. It's nice to see more manufacturers making guns for people with limited strength. The nice thing about this being a little larger is it's easier to shoot and soaks up more recoil than a pocket gun. You should check out a Beretta Cheetah if you haven't already.
Ruger's guns are such a good value for the money they get overlooked. Security-9 is a GREAT EDC/self-defense/truck gun and nobody buys em bc they don't trust 300 dollar guns very much. It's a shame, they really are nice.
Absolutely love Ruger! Have S&W, Sig, Beretta, Taurus....but Ruger is definitely a familiar go to when I'm looking for a good affordable all around revolver, rifle, or semi auto pistol. Thanks for post that excellent video.
I have both. I prefer the ‘no grip safety’ of the Ruger. I prefer the 10 and 15 round capacity of the Ruger. I prefer the magazines of the S&W as I see a little glitch occasionally in the magazine follower in the Ruger as it gets angled up and a bit high after last round. This has caused the plastic follower to get scuffed if you let the slide go into battery with an empty magazine. Both guns shoot well for me.
I like .380 as a round itself. If only it was as plentiful and affordable as 9mm. In my part of Tennessee, I cant remember the last time I saw a box of .380 on the shelf. That led me to do some online pricing and I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

The main reason I bought my first 380 was because the ammo used to be so cheap compared to even 9mm. A box of American Eagle 90 gr. 380 was $5.00/50 compared to $8.00/50 for 9mm. Then with the Obambi induced ammo drought, the prices went up to the same as 9mm and never came back down, even after 9mm dropped a little.
I bought one recently, and I have to say it is my overall favorite center fire pistol now. With arthritis getting worse as I get older, the lite rack and reduced recoil actually makes this a joy to shoot and carry. Don't get me wrong, I am still keeping my PDP-F. the Glock, the LCP and LCP max, the .357 and the .44 and the rest of the crew, but this one goes to the range EVERY trip, which say a lot for it. I also recently had an OWB kydex holster made for it, so now it will take over from the P365 9mm I used to carry.
I haven't seen a bad review on these yet. I've always had my eye on the LCP max, but if I'm carrying .380 I'd rather have the extra 5 rounds and everything seems to be pretty sound w/the Security .380. I can vouch that the Security-9 is a very solid choice for a $300 pistol.
I have an LCP Max in addition to the Security. I just wanted to mention that a 12 round magazine is available for the Max. While I enjoy shooting the Security more, I really like the easy concealment of the Max.
It's good to see another option for people needing the easy rack & light recoil. I've done more reading & watching on .380 ballistics than I want to think about. The one repeating result is a barrel length of three inches or more is needed for **consistent** hollow point expansion.
Love your videos. I have a Security 380 Lite-Rack. Bought it for when I take newbees to the range, who prefer it to my Beretta Cheetah. Has worked flawlessly. Well worth the price.
I have wanted one for a while and plan on getting one soon, have not heard a bad thing about it til your comments on the jam, which you have to break in the mag a little too, and the accuracy ,,,your the first i've heard of that. but that's cool i like your honesty!! good video! keep it up
Great review! I’ve been thinking about picking one of these up for a while but my biggest gripe is that it’s only available with a right hand only manual saftey and my wife and I are both left handed. I really wish they would make it ambi or offer it without the safty.
Once those magazine springs break in, I doubt you will have any feeding issues on that first round. I usually load handgun mags one less than capacity for that very reason anyways. Enjoyed the vid, thanks for sharing!
I have heard that the followers in the magazines can sometimes cause the ammo to jam. I have seen this happen a few times in other videos as well. Stay blessed sir!
That's because they use a 9mm magazine. After loading the magazine slap it in the palm of your hand to seat the rounds to the back of the magazine. The Mags suck but the gun is great.
it is, I have zero regrets about buying mine, only regret I have is buying a PDP, instead of a Security-9, PDP is a great gun, just too big for me to EDC, knowing what I know now about the Security line, the Security-9 would have been a better fit
I've watched some other Security. 380 videos. One guy was up to nearly 500 rounds, but had several malfunctions with Armscor fmj's. In another video, Honest Outlet was doing a carry drill. When he dropped one of his mags, the bottom fell apart. I think he was able to fix the problem. Also, i believe the slide didn't lock back each time. Over all, the gun seems to function properly. If not, at least Ruger has good customer service.
I think the biggest reason for the easy racking is the tilting barrel design. I don't remember ever seeing anything but straight blowback 380's until this Ruger. Never understood why considering how common it is with 9mm. Keep up the good work.
You are correct that the tilting barrel has a lot to do with the light rack but this isn't even close to the first, not even for Ruger. The LCP line (which essentially copied Keltec and was copied again by Taurus) already does this just instead of using the tilting barrel to lighten the springs they made the gun A LOT smaller. The Glock 42 is kinda like that also. Doing it to lighten the rack though really started with the Smith & Wesson EZ 380. Even Sig does it with the 380 version of the 365
You guys really put lot of effort in your videos and I truly appreciate it. Your reviews have no bs and it’s all about what guns are about - shooting and reliability. All the best!
Thanks very much for the review, guys. Nicely done. I'm a 9mm snob, and my EDC is a Sig P-320 full size. I've been really reluctant to buy a 380, but after seeing this, I'm thinking twice. Much appreciated!
I don't think you will be disappointed if you do buy the Ruger .380. It would make for an excellent EDC, especially loaded with the Remington HTP rounds.
@@weirdshibainu It's a thought, for sure. The P320 has been flawless, with every type of ammo I've fed to it. Probably 700 rounds so far and not one hiccup.
Honest inquiry here. I've got about 9 years experience dealing with firearms of all kinds, after taking an interest in them. For some reason, I have never once owned or even fired a revolver. I am wondering the reasons why some people like them. Maybe I'm missing something, and should try one out. Thank you!
@@TheWeatherbuff other than being fun to shoot, reliable in a defensive encounter and generally just baddass? Of the 6 handguns I own, only 1 is a revolver. A S&W 642 Airweight. It’s the gun I wear when I need to really hide it. It disappears in an ankle holster or a pocket. And 5 rounds of .38 Special is extremely effective up close. Plus it’s fun to shoot and surprisingly accurate out to about 10-15 yards.
@@MDR-hn2yz Thanks! I'll have to try one out when I get to the range next week. They have a few for rent. And yes, I can see how .38 sp would be quite effective if necessary.
@@TheWeatherbuff never played cowboy and Indians as a kid?😂 Or watched Dirty Harry and wanted to know how it feels to pull the trigger of a 44 mag revolver ( cuts your head clean off 😂)? Thanks for all of your videos. I have one and also have compromised left shoulder needing the same surgery. With this handgun I can shoot and function very well. I think that your wife will like it.
I was going to blame the jam on the previous ammunition you cycled through it. I bought a S&W M&P Shield for my wife because of recoil. Sad to say I lost her before I could take her out and shoot it. So kinda got excited to pull it out and take it shooting in the near future
Good video guys. The Ruger Security 380 works great in the Reno area also.:) Love this gun, I'm 78, and it is my mainstay in my EDC rotation. Oh, the only other in my EDC is a 9m.
I have an LC9 through which over the years I've put exactly one frillion rounds without any misfires, stovepipes - nothing. I buy whatever ammo is on sale. I clean it after each range trip. So sorta surprised here. More manufacturers are making easy slide guns - which is a nice concession to older gunners and to the ladies. Thanks for the video.
Good demo Mixup and Mixup Kid! 👍 The Security 380 Lite Rack, a Lula magazine loading tool, and Underwood's 68 grain XD PD/EDC ammo would be a hard-to-beat combination for anyone with arthritis or otherwise compromised grip strength or arm strength. 👍
Got mine a couple of months after they were released. Have put about 400 rounds through it and I love it. The modified mechanism of the spring and the cut outs on the slide make it easy to shoot Easy to rack and has minimal recoil. Its been super reliable and has not had any indigestion with all the types of ammo that I've run through it; but mine really likes Remington for fun and Sig Sauer for defensive ammo. Its my primary EDC. Seriously considering getting a second one.
My mother is getting way up there in age and a few years ago she realized she could no longer "reliably" rack her pistols. She still wanted to carry a pistol in a lot of situations. We ended up getting her the S&W EZ, it's excellent for people that may have trouble racking the slide on a pistol. The S&W EZ was so "EZ" that we ended up getting one for one of my daughters that has weakness in her wrists. I'm a big Ruger fan and will keep this Lite Rack pistol in mind for the future. If they become popular we might see Ruger produce them in 9mm, even if that isn't their target consumer for this product at the moment. A comparison between the S&W EZ and the Ruger Lite Rack would be a great video. I generally give new pistols a bit of a break if there's a FTF or FTE in the first 100 rounds or so. I've had new firearms have a few issues within the first couple of hundred rounds and then not have any issue for thousands upon thousands of rounds. You may have experienced the same thing occasionally. It just seems to be the nature of the beast with a lot of modern firearms, especially (in my experience) polymer pistols. There's nothing wrong with polymer, it just seems that they are the firearms I will have an occasional hiccup with when they are brand new. After one hundred or two hundred rounds they seem to run great. I only use steel cased ammo in AK's, SKS's and similar firearms. Love the "universal" magazine loader, I have the same one or two, lol. Had to get it indifferent colors since people insisted on getting me something for a birthday a few years ago. Great minds..........
Owned 2 ruger single sixes, 1- 44 old army, 1-30 carbine blackhawk, traded the 30 for a cz-52. It didn't go far, my preacher has it, really likes it too ! I like this little guy, but I need another pistol..
Mixup... two videos in two days? I don't know how to act! lol Cool pistol. I think it's probably as you say, the perfect lady's pistol or just anyone who has trouble with standard weight slides. The other advantage is the light trigger. A revolver is great too but they tend to have heavier triggers... so this, with it's 15 round mag is a super option! Thanks! Keep em coming!
Mine didn't come with a 15 round mag, it came with two 10s. I mentioned that to the sales rep and he said they have sold dozens and never seen one that had an included a 15 round mag. I bought the piece and picked up 2 boxes of Fiocchi 95 gr fmj and have not been able to get a single round to feed from either mag. Checked the Ruger forums and found that nobody seems to be able to get the Fiocchi ammo to feed. I tried manually loading a single round and then slapping a full mag home. Fired the chambered round and got a feed jam on the second. Cleared that, tried again, same thing. I was told to buy several different brands of 380 and try them to see what worked. Great advice... apparently the poster has an unlimited income. This is the only 380 I own so buying a bunch of $30+ boxes of ammo that can't be returned nor exchanged is a non-starter. Also, I load most of my own ammo for both pistol and rifle so the fact that I can't get factory ammo to cycle is a big concern. Needless to say I am not happy with this purchase and I am a HUGE Ruger fan. Also, I have never had any problem with accuracy with any of my Ruger pistols, your experience seems to be different. We all have manufacturers that seem to work well for us while others don't so don't take that as a dig on you! Personally, I can't get my S&W Shield .45 to perform nearly as well as my Ruger SR 1911 or my Springfield Armory XDS (both also in .45). Thanks for the video! I guess I will try polishing the ramp and picking up a box of the Armscor and see if that works.
Nice carbine, n8ce video. I have a mini 14 183series stainless. They are fun to shoot. All these people that complain about accuracy seem till think they are made for bench rest precision shooting. They are an excellent utility firearm for pest control/ basic plinking. I really enjoy your content. Getting out in the desert and doing your style of shooting is a lot of fun. Big thumbs up from Yuma Az.
Nice review.. i like that it holds more than 6 or 8 rounds.. i keep waiting for the glock 19 in 380.. i guess they can't import it.. as for accuracy its use would probably be under 25 feet or so right?.. and not to bore you but anyone turning up their nose at 380 .. look up.. an alternative look at handgun stopping power.. the huy went to great lengths to gather info.. mind blowing for sure.. thanks for another great review
That FTF might have been a fluke. The pistol is well within a normal break-in period, so I'd say that if it jams after 200-300 rounds, then you might have an issue with it. I've shot MANY Ruger semi-auto pistols with all kinds of ammo and all kinds of projectile profiles and have found them to be reliable to a fault. Still, a firearm needs to be trust-worthy, expected to go bang when it's supposed to. I've been eyeballing the Security .380 for several months, now. One might just follow me home one of these times. Nice video, good shooting. Cheers.
I tend to agree with you that the FTF was probably a fluke. Ruger semiauto pistols tend to be extremely reliable straight out of the box. Thanks for the compliment. Cheers.

LCP Max, LCP Max, LCP Max. It's my main carry gun, and I highly recommend it. Don't get the normal blued version, go online and get a cerakoted or PVD version, the normal blued version rust quick.
My wife had a neck injury that caused nerve damage to her left hand. I picked up a Shiels EZ 380 for her. Its a great gun, but it only holds 8+1. I think I may trade it for this guy.
Nice little shooter, in 380 I'd just stick to FMJ, your wasting money on hollow points that never open... How much do these cost ? Thanks for sharing n' God bless you and yours brother
I used to shoot competition and one missed shot could cause me to loose a match, which is why I hate it when I miss a shot or two. I don't compete anymore so maybe I should just chill and accept a missed shot once in awhile. Thank you for the nice compliment and my son and I thank you for watching our videos.
While I'm not a huge 380 fan, I do consider it just fine for self defense. That looks like a great ccw option! I wouldn't sweat that one bobble too much. It is a new gun.
There are some great modern bullets that make the 380 even more effective. And unlike most 380s, this aint a a 2" barrel pocket pistol lol. I imagine this gun with some Underwood extreme defenders would be nice combination
I use Blazer fmj but I have found them to be a little hot. I found that Magtech makes a hollow point thst shoots with less power/recoil. You can find them on PSA or Grab a Gun for about 22 bucks for 50 count. I have no idea if they expand or not, don't really care, it makes shooting my lc380 and security 380 a dream.
I bought one a few weeks ago. Fired off 150 rounds at the indoor range where I bought it. Jammed every 2-3 rounds. Failure to feed, getting stuck on the ramp into the chamber. Store sent it back to Ruger. All reviewers say reliability is very good, so I presume this was just a manufacturing defect and Ruger will fix it up or replace it. Re: hot barrel and accuracy, given the purpose of the pistol (short distance self defense) neither of those seems to be significant. I really like the safety. Easy to disengage, difficult to engage without intentionally trying to do it.
@@gregb6469 looked like they polished the feed ramp, test fired it, then sent it back. I tried another 50 rounds with it. First mag ran through fine, but then had a few jams per magazine (2 different magazines). I can't rule out that my grip might have been interfering with the slide, but my conclusion was, even if it was my grip it's too sensitive to proper grip to be reliable when it might be needed most, so I sold it back to the gun shop. So, I don't know what to make of it. No one else reports problems like this, so maybe it was a one-off problem.
@@bobmccoy4652 Unfortunately I haven't shot nor handled a S&W EZ 380 pistol so I can't give you an opinion on it except to say that S&W does make some very good semiauto pistols. I would suggest, if possible, that you handle both the S&W and Ruger and see which one fits your hand better. You will be much more accurate and comfortable with a pistol that fits your hand compared to one that just doesn't feel right.
The only malfunction ive ever experienced with my carry gun, and the only malfunction i ever experienced with a glock handgun was with Hornaday American gunner, and with Hornaday critical defense. Only one apiece and never again. The ftx bullet in critical defense, and the xtp bullet in American gunner are very similar shape. And i suspect that from my personal experience and data ive gathered, that the specific shape is more likely to jam than other , more rounded profiles. I dont hold this against ruger, especially being a brand new pistol

I currently have Golden Saber 102gr rounds in my wife's Taurus and my S&W Bodyguard. But I have no issue using 380 FMJ for defense.
@@melissasmess2773 Roger that.
Best gun reviews on UA-cam.

Love your down to earth, no-nonsense as well as fun to watch videos. Keep making these as they are great for the shooting community.
I bought mine the month it hit stores and have no regrets
edit, my 73 yr old mother can't rack a S&W EZ, she can rack this.

Reminds me of the shield ez. I prefer s&w but glad to see more options on market for easier to rack autoloaders
More often than not, for .380 ammo, on line is the best way to go!

Yes 380 is like 20 dollars a box in Kentucky
In Texas 380 is 30 dollars way over priced
Nice review. I never had a problem with XTP or HAP ammo except one pistol and it was always the first round stripped in a 13 round mag. 45 ACP.
Great shooting guys! I'm a Glock guy but also own a bunch of Rugers. They are great guns and you don't break the bank buying one.
Love these reviews. I have had more luck with flat nose rounds than hollow points in .380. Let’s see if S&W will launch a .380 version of Equalizer.
It should happen once they are nearly out of Shield EZ’s
Kudos for the pinky extension with option to change back to a flat baseplate on the 10 round mag. To often grip comfort is overlooked.
I might have to consider this one. Not a fan of 380 but this might be worth trying.
A shout out to your better half to recover from her surgery.
I do the same.
Me too.
I have heard that the followers in the magazines can sometimes cause the ammo to jam. I have seen this happen a few times in other videos as well. Stay blessed sir!
It hasn't happened to my magazines yet but I will do an updated review if I have any problems with my pistol or magazines.
@mixup98 sounds good, sir! Stay blessed and stay safe out there.
That's because they use a 9mm magazine. After loading the magazine slap it in the palm of your hand to seat the rounds to the back of the magazine. The Mags suck but the gun is great.
@kansasgardener5844 Thanks for the info! I appreciate it.
I know somebody who carries a .380.. This gun might be a good 15-round option.
it is, I have zero regrets about buying mine, only regret I have is buying a PDP, instead of a Security-9, PDP is a great gun, just too big for me to EDC, knowing what I know now about the Security line, the Security-9 would have been a better fit
👍 Every day at the range is a good day!
I use sinterfire special duty .380 ammo in my security 380. awesome combo
I had the same problem with the American Gunner brand so I had some Speer gold dots and they cycled great so that’s what I carry
Great review I like mine I like to shoot it over the lcp max thanks for sharing with me and your son
Why not get a P365 for a smaller EDC?
@@weirdshibainu It's a thought, for sure. The P320 has been flawless, with every type of ammo I've fed to it. Probably 700 rounds so far and not one hiccup.
Good to see you guys back in action. Hoping for more revolver reviews 😊
The power a revolver directly submits to the shooter fascinates me. Plus just sights, no red dot or laser or any other aiming support (yeah, I know Taurus does Toro but I have the choice to opt out).
I like shooting in general so I like to experience all forms of it . Revolver shooting is just pure fun for me 😀
I will be positing a revolver review today (a .44 magnum) and in the near future I will also be posting a video on a vintage S&W .38 Special revolver.
Thanks for all of your videos. I have one and also have compromised left shoulder needing the same surgery. With this handgun I can shoot and function very well. I think that your wife will like it.
I like my Rugers. A good review and good shooting as usual. Keep 'em coming guys! Be safe.
I was going to blame the jam on the previous ammunition you cycled through it. I bought a S&W M&P Shield for my wife because of recoil. Sad to say I lost her before I could take her out and shoot it. So kinda got excited to pull it out and take it shooting in the near future
Sorry to hear about your wife. God bless you both.
Mine has been 100% reliable with Winchester 95 grain FMJ flat points. Target & Practice rounds . Academy Sports stocks them.
Good video guys.
The Ruger Security 380 works great in the Reno area also.:)
Love this gun, I'm 78, and it is my mainstay in my EDC rotation.
What a coincidence I’ve been pondering wether or I should pick up one of these, thanks for the insight
You are very welcome and thank you for watching our video.
Hope you did because it's a nice gun.
I always look forward to a Mixup98 video. Thanks guys!
Awesome.....thank you! 👍😎 😎👍
Great shooting as always men...well I think she is going to do great with it.....Ruger is a quality company no question about it
56 just diagnosed with Parkinson’s I have the shield 380 ez but will be looking at the ruger as it has a higher capacity.
Another fantastic video MIXUP thanks from Ireland 🇮🇪
Owned 2 ruger single sixes, 1- 44 old army, 1-30 carbine blackhawk, traded the 30 for a cz-52. It didn't go far, my preacher has it, really likes it too ! I like this little guy, but I need another pistol..
Thanks for your great review of the Ruger Security 380. I'm pleased with mine. The Lite Rack slide and accuracy make a good combination.
Thanks for watching!
Another excellent unbiased review , thanks for sharing and keep them coming please.
Mixup... two videos in two days?
Very good info on a .380, always first class, thanks
Much appreciated, Ira !!
I think the one hang up was a fluke. The only complaint I have seen is magazine base pads popping off when dropped.
Carbine? Did you watch a different video?
Awesome shooting, love watching you and your son out on tha range!
Cheers.
Lehigh Extreme Defense, Underwood Extreme Defense, G9 and the like ammo has brought the 380acp, Short Barrel 9mm, Short Barrel 45acp, and 38spl Snubs to life. 13-18 inches in Ballistic tests for all Cals and ACPs. Some handguns gun can't run the ammo (LCP for one). But my Ruger Security 380 and Bersa 380cc can, NO Malfunctions
I have the Ruger Security 9 and really like the pistol and the grips. Ruger makes good pistols and wouldn’t have a problem with it in the .380. I actually have a LCP II that I like just as well
LCP Max, LCP Max, LCP Max. It's my main carry gun, and I highly recommend it. Don't get the normal blued version, go online and get a cerakoted or PVD version, the normal blued version rust quick.
Ideal for the elderly and post trauma or surgery. Nice to see you and son out playing nicely 😁
Feeding the chipmunks too . 👍🏴

Nice little shooter, in 380 I'd just stick to FMJ, your wasting money on hollow points that never open... How much do these cost ?
Thanks for sharing n' God bless you and yours brother
I'm seeing them for $300 here in Southern Indiana.
Just pick one up for Black Friday sale and I'm glad it works great. Hope my wife like it's too.
I bought mine a year ago. I really like mine.
You and your son are such good shooters, you both get disappointed if you miss one or two shots. If i hit half of what you guys hit I'd be elated.
Looking at one of these as a future purchase.
Guys, your gun videos are some of the best!
Thank you sgtjoefriday......much appreciated!!!
Hope Mrs Mixup likes her new pistol!
Did Ruger fix the gun, or replace it with one that works?
@@gregb6469 looked like they polished the feed ramp, test fired it, then sent it back. I tried another 50 rounds with it. First mag ran through fine, but then had a few jams per magazine (2 different magazines). I can't rule out that my grip might have been interfering with the slide, but my conclusion was, even if it was my grip it's too sensitive to proper grip to be reliable when it might be needed most, so I sold it back to the gun shop.
So, I don't know what to make of it. No one else reports problems like this, so maybe it was a one-off problem.
Fits perfectly in my holster for SW 9MM COMPACT 3.6 by Vedder😁
Very nice video, being retired I set and wait for your reviews great job
Awesome! Thank you!
Ruger has done it again 👍🏻
I have a security 9, my arthritis makes the slide and recoil difficult to handle. I think this security .380 is my next gun. Thank you for the review!
You are very welcome and thank you for watching my video.
@@mixup98 I had the opportunity to try out a S&W EZ 380. I liked it, do you have a video comparing the S&W EZ 380 and the Ruger security 380?
Your “no nonsense” videos are the best!
Wow, thanks! Much appreciated!!!
Pretty smooth little shooter, and a nice-looking handgun at that:-)
