- With God On Our Side takes a look at the theology of Christian Zionism, which teaches that because the Jews are God's chosen people, they have a divine right to the land of Israel. Aspects of this belief system lead some Christians in the West to give uncritical support to Israeli government policies, even those that privilege Jews at the expense of Palestinians, leading to great suffering among Muslim and Christian Palestinians alike and threatening Israel's security as a whole.
Is there a Biblical alternative for Christians who want to love and support the people of Israel? A way that doesn't favor one people group over another but instead promotes peace and reconciliation for both Jews and Palestinians?

I'm so happy to hear that you realize this. I am an Arab Christian. My parents are Christians. Christianity was born in the Middle East. I recently met born again Christians and some are Evangelists. When I entered some churches to pray with them I see the Israeli flag. When I hear what they really believe I am really shocked. I wish they would understand

I am a former evangelical and now an atheist, and I have to say this is one of the most compassionate, beautiful, humble films I've seen on the subject. My heart has been shattered since Oct. 7th and the events after. I was heartbroken for the innocent Israelis who were massacred or kidnapped by Hamas, and I have been devastated by the horrors committed by Israel upon innocent humans in Gaza, especially children. Learning about the occupation, that Israel is an apartheid state has been difficult to accept after unequivocally siding with Israel for most of my life. This documentary really centered the humanity of everyone involved. In my many years as a Christian, rarely did I see any trace of the essence of Jesus. I saw judgment and Zionism and hate and homophobia and love of guns and petty quibbles, but rarely did I see the character that drew me to Jesus in the first place, and I was brought to tears to see it in this film. Sadly it is rare in American Christianity, so thank you for your humility and empathy and willingness to love other people, and for actually living in a way that represents the teachings of Jesus. My deepest gratitude.

When I was younger I was surprised to find out there were Palestinian Christians.
Now, it’s not about the particular faith it’s about the people, I grew up in the same kind of Christianity.

It is so very sad, yet inspiring that Bethlehem canceled Christmas celebrations this year to stand in solidarity with the Palestinians. We have to ask ourselves how manny more horrors are we going to let the State of Israel commit before we hold them to account? I remember my church and family being almost delirious with joy after the 1967 war.

One thing the documentary fails to address is that genetically, Palestinians are not just "invading Arabs". They are largely descended from the native Canaanite inhabitants, just like most other Levantines are. This includes ancient Hebrews, who would goon to convert to Christianity, and many later to Islam. As Arabic became the main language, they started speaking Arabic. Language and religion is not DNA.

I think there is another aspect of this story that needs to be thoroughly looked at and I just don't see enough talked about it. Mainly the ancestry of the Ashkenazis and exploring the biological connection between the Palestinians and the Mizrahi Jews. Because if the claim to the land is based on God's promise to Abraham then who is most likely to be descendant from Abraham? Lets remove religion and culture for a sec and go with genetic biology. The teaching makes you feel what you are believing is godly when in fact it is far from it. Think just a little bit about how Satan replaced the true church with a piece of dirt. Where a piece of dirt in the middle east is more important than the lives you as a Christian are supposed to be bringing the good news to. It is very sad. I sadly in my early walk with the Lord went to bible school and I got brainwashed into it. I never gave it much thought until maybe 12 years ago and tested the doctrines of dispensationalism with the word of God and I couldn’t find one thing that was true about it. That was 1985 when my brainwashing began. Then when you find out the historicity of it, it is obvious that God was not bringing the church NEW revelation of something hidden in the Bible and why it explains that nobody taught it for 1800 years. Abraham didn't only have Isaac as a child. He also had Ishmael, and many Arabs are descendants of Ishmael.

Thank you, I will admit that I was sceptical but I feel that this show did a good job. I don't agree with all of what was presented but I feel that it was balanced and covered a lot of necessary points. I'm not sure if it's possible to link a democratic Israel with what the Bible describes. My understanding is that the king/priest(Messiah) is to rule Zion. So that would mean that the state of Israel would have to fall once again to make place for their Messiah. Some point to certain obscure verses like 'I will overturn, overturn, overturn ' to say that Israel as a nation will be defeated 3times. and that in the book of Daniel it describes the nations leading up to the time when the image is removed by a rock. At the time when the rock hits the nations are described as Clay and iron. This is said to describe the multicultural aspect of much of the world today, and the inability for Unity among the different cultures in society today. One concern I have is that a dictator may try and take advantage of this and set them self up as this Messiah. So I believe that it's important to point out that it's started in the new testament that the return of the Jewish Messiah will be as quick as lightning, so no normal event that a man (like say the pope) could do. But if you only take one thing of what I'm saying then please let it be that Jesus has told us to be harmless as doves, to turn the other cheek, and to do to others as you would have done to you until the day after your judgement when if you are found in line with God's will, you may stand by the side of the LION 🦁 of Judah, the lamb of God.

I’m not even a Christian. But I grew up in a Methodist church. Just a note. And I realize the experience is different in different places and different denominations. But it’s so often being portrayed with a broad brush and ignoring the forces that have influenced the crap parts I’ve seen, especially in evangelical churches. It’s crazy how these populations have been propagandized into nuttiness. Imagine finding out when you’re older all those that funded and simply manufactured these more extreme versions. You’d suddenly feel both betrayed and alienated by those who you’ve known your whole life. I really can’t imagine it.
I pray that more Christians see this documentary and awake from the blindness of supporting a genocidal state.
