I think it all looks great
Thank you Stanley!
Thanks Brad. It's looking really nice. Moose is a good cat. 👍
Thanks Tim. He is indeed.
You must be a cat person too👍🤙🏻😁
The trunk and firewall look good.
Thank you Billy.
Shake it up Brad ,, Wow that looks amazing
Thanks buddy!
It looks fine Bud, don't sweat the small stuff !! Take it easy on yourself and enjoy life... Ed/A
Great advice Ed. Thanks a bunch. 👊
From God's heart to Moose's ear 😻 Thanks for the catro Brad 😉
Haha figured I need to get him in there somewhere the keep the Moose fans happy. Thanks!
Looks pretty sweet!! Do a little more on the firewall and not worry too much about the trunk lid. Just a little clean up will do. Nice work!! Cheers!!
Thanks Paul!
The tape on the underside of the trunk (before you trimmed it) had a very 8-bit video game vibe going. lol
It did for sure. Thanks man!
Looks GOOD !!!
Thank you Richard!
I Like it looks very good, thanks for sharing
Thanks!
Hey Brad check the exhaust fan pressure port ,pull off clear line on exhaust, stick a small wire in the hole it seems to get plugged up makes your furnace wont run.
Thanks for the tip DB. Tried that, but didn't fix the issue. I think one of my limit switches is bad.
That car is turning out great man! I would just feather out the over spray on the edge of the trunk lid. You should be able to put a tape line under the weather strip! Have a good one ✌️
Thanks Don. I appreciate you watching!
Looks like you covered a weld to me. No big deal. You are the only one who would know it's anything.
I probably covered lots of welds haha. Not sure what you're referring too, but I ground down all the welds I was concerned with anyhow, but yes you can still see the weld scars. I was fine with that. Thanks!
The trunk looks great....it's a trunk in a driver car. Same for the firewall. By the time you get everything back together there's gonna be enough in the engine bay to draw your eye away from a slight imperfection in the paint on the firewall. Again.....it's a driver car. Keep moving forward and focus on the end product and driving the old '55 around. It looks great so far. Trust I know what it's like being picky.....and so does my wife. Be safe and stay well.
Thanks Brian. I think you have the right answer here for how I should be looking at it, but I may have done something a little different in this case...
With the SPI epoxy primer, I've learned to not rush it. Especially if I'm not top coating it. I'll put a coat on any areas with filler, wait an hour or so and coat the entire piece. Let it sit overnight, sand out anything that has soaked in and lay down the 2nd coat.
Yep, that is exactly how I should have done it. Now ill know for next time at least...
The Raptor 2k kit with their spray gun is great. If you really want to hide the defects, you can lower the psi on your regulator to get a much more rough texture.
Thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind next time I spray it.
@@MontanaGarage Right. Worked for me to hide the patch job I did.
Hey 👋, it's looking good though the camera lens. But yes it definitely 💯 percent improvement from what you started with. And I know how you feel about the over spray and bond dp showing . But you already know what your going to do to solve it. So can't wait for the next one. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks man!
Pretty cool
Thanks!
It's all looking good. I can remember like a couple years ago you were welding in patches in that trunk. Its come a long way
It has indeed. I need to pick up the pace a but though... thanks!
Looks good put hi build primer on fire wall and sand
That would fix it, but was hoping to leave in epoxy as the finished product. Thanks for the tip.
Moose good seeing ya lol
👍
Hi Brad. You can scuff the fire wall and put a light coat of primer where you see the bondo , and then repeat the black. You can use rattle can so you don't have to mix up a batch of epoxy. If the spot still shows, you can repeat the process. Trunk looks great.
Thanks Randy!
Hay Brad, car is really taking shape. I really like the deck lid and spraying the area's that had the black paper in them. I think the bed liner product was the way to go.
Thanks Lester. Much appreciated man!
Moose is the raptor!😆🤣
Haha thanks for watching man!
Looks good personally I would leave it because if it really bugged me I would just match it with the body color later and fix it then
Thanks David. I would rather have body color but I am too lame to pick a color I guess...
Bedliner looks great painting inside trunk, firewall, inside floorpans etc. glossy is a tough one. Im surprised they dont make a perfectly stamped firewall cover or trunk pan cover for the tri-fives that snaps on ,LOL! Probably cost a fortune,LOL! especially now with the crazy steel prices.I guess thats why alot of restorers cover everything in the trunk with panels and upholstery...Nice job! Car looks sweet!
Thanks man. I'll probably eventually throw a rubber mat down in there so it's plenty good for that.
@@MontanaGarage Thats what I did with mine when the trunk mats were like $75.00 20 years ago I think there more now.
Looks good to me. The trunk panels are a nice touch. It's your ride but I'd leave it as is but maybe touch up outside the seal area on the trunk if anything. Great work man.
Thanks for the input Chris. Much appreciated.
Looking Awesome Brad! Keep Up The Great Work My Friend ❗
Thank you Gary!
Hey Brad the car is looking awesome, I see you’re at the conundrum of how far do I go down this rabbit hole, especially for orange peel on the firewall, I get it little things just drive you crazy. Good luck brother it’s looking awesome looks like we’re getting some nice weather finally.
Thanks Greg. Yep, trying to balance between "I'm doing most of this myself and realizing it is not going to be perfect," and "if I spend this much time on something it's gotta be better". Hard to know where to draw the line...
@@MontanaGarage 😂😂😂
looks great! You're too hard on yourself.
Thanks Rick. Life is tough when you have high standards and low skills haha. I know I need to let more things go, and I'm working on that. (Currently debating spraying the firewall for a third time so I guess I need to work harder on it...)
Bad Chad did that on his hood. Putting the raptor liner in the spots on hood
Thanks for watching John. I haven't watched much of Bad Chad so I didn't see it there, but I guess great minds think alike haha.
Gloss black shows every imperfection . I always use satan black . I wouldn’t worry about it , it’s still better than when it came from the factory . I think it looks awesome 👍
Thanks Howie. It is supposed to loose a bit of that sheet as it cures. Time will tell I guess....
Wow. With all that epoxy and raptor liner that old gal would even stand up to the salt air in my part of the world! Nice.
Yes, track moose. You will get a kick out of how far an animal roams in one day.
Amazon sells little trackers for items like that light. Just be careful. The next thing you know you will have a tracker on you and Mrs. Montana Garage will know where you are at all times. ;)
Haha yeah no trackers for me! Thanks man!
Well.. as far as YOU know, anyway. ;)
@@Joe.Doucette haha she does always seem to know what I've been up too...
firewall is good better than when new by the time car is put together you won't know the difference save your nit picking for outside where you will see it looks good
Great advice Marvin. Thanks!
If your unit heater is lighting, going out and lighting again clean the flame sensor.
Thanks for the tip. It is giving me a code for a limit switch, but I will check the flame sensor as well. Much appreciated!
Every time I've sprayed epoxy over filler I can always see the filler through the primer. Even with multiple coats of epoxy it still shows through. Once you spray 2k filler primer over it you wont see it.
Thanks for the tip. This is meant to be the topcoat in this instance, so no 2K to cover it with.
Hey Montana garage I'm up here in Bozeman doing a job for a guy that has a whole garage full of dragsters just thought I'd say Hi
Hi man! That's cool. Sounds like a guy I need to know! Was it Tom's Alignment? I know he's got some dragsters. Hope you got out of Bozeman before the snow hit...
@@MontanaGarage its CLR Lawn care I just shot his dragster in black
I'm impressed with your attention to detail!! I like your idea of having the fuel door on the inside of your trunk. Question: did you have to fabricate a new fuel filler hose so the angle at the top to the filler tube faces in towards the trunk and not to the outside of the car? Any info would be great. Thanks
Thanks Daryl. Sorry for the late reply. I have not yet installed the fuel tank or filler tube. I anticipate having to change the filler tube a bit. I am "hoping" rather than starting from scratch I can simply cut the filler, rotate it as needed, and either weld it back together, or just add a piece of rubber hose to connect the two pieces. Time will tell if that will work. Thanks for watching!
I like everything as perfect as can be, but learnt the stress would kill me at the end. Sure you want it nice but as you said its not a show car and it will still look good at the end because by the time you finish it, most of the stuff will be hidden and all will kinda blend in and you are the only one that will really know. Also when you start driving it all that goes out the window. PS I saw Bad Chad do the same as you under one of his trunks.
Thanks Johnny. I need to start looking at it that way. Thanks for watching!
Just put a sticker on the spot under the hood on the firewall
I actually thought of that too. You'll have to watch the next one and see if that is how I "fixed" it.
i've been thinking about replacing my old reznor gas hanging heater with one like yours . after seeing all the all the problems your having i'm having second thoughts. way back to your install it seems like it's been problem
It's definitely given me some issues, and it hasn't been used too much. I believe one of the limit switches is bad now, but I haven't had a chance to work on it to find out for sure.
I'm betting you are going to fix the trunk lid and leave the firewall as is. Unless of course you have decided to paint the trunk lid body color later, and you leave both alone for now. 😉
Thanks for watching and commenting. Watch the next one when posted to find out if your bet was correct.
“Looking good”…..NOW, hurry up and get that thing finished so you can take this old man for a ride in it!!!! I do admire you for building it the way that “you want” and I believe you’re making it into a car to be proud of!!
Thanks man. I'm not having a lot of luck with that "hurry up" part, but I'll get there someday, maybe
Beat me to it lol
First time for everything! Thanks a ton for watching BW. 👊
Please find the Moose! I sometimes think you are torn between good enough and I can do better than that. We all go through that is what I think. I just do the best I can and if someone doesn't like it I offer to let them do it over 😊
You are exactly right Gorni. Hard to call it good enough when with just a little time/effort it could be better, even when it is really good enough. I need to let good enough be good enough. (I an debating spraying the firewall for a third time as I type this because I'm not sure it is good enough).
@@MontanaGarage that's how they snowball into show quality cars 😊
Moooooossssseeee
🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈⬛
ive seen liner somewhere before hmmmm????????
I thought it was you. Is your trunk like that, or were you just talking about it one day? Anyways, thanks for the idea if it was you. Looks cool I think. 👊
