Okay I am going to practice these words here😁
Mark was telling Angella that someone told him he was ugly but he just *shrugged it off/brushed it off*.
While on phone he noticed that some people were *spying* on him. So, he told Angela that he better ran and would catch her later.
    Then, he started teaching us.😹
He gave us a *pep talk*.😅
When we asked Mike about capital of Australia, he started shrugging and said,"it beats me!"😂
By the way he told us that if something "weighed us down", we should brush it off.
And we should *master* the quality of brushing off things that weigh us down. That's *the name of the game*.
We should be *resilient* and keep getting up.
Then, Mike chose to stop rambling and end this commendable video on a high note.❤
    Very long comment though.
    Thank you, Mike.😅🌸

''Shrugging off his failures, Thomas continued his higher studies.'' Hi Mark, The way you explain those phrases with example situations is excellent. Superb. We need example situations to understand them properly because we are English learners.

    Hi!Thanks for the vocabulary!
There are many bad situations in life which could happen to us like failure in an exam or problems with your partner...etc. In this case, we should just schrag them off and keep going on our way.
    Vocabulary:
I better run!, I'll catch you later!, I have another crack at the exam, I schrag it off = I brush it off, weigh down, no biggie = no big deal, hardship.
    Take care!

    Greetings, Mark!
Before anything else, lemme say that the weather in BC is perfect for an afternoon stroll! The green lawn is so inviting to just lay there and watch the clouds-that for me looks like cotton candy. Believe it or not, I was waiting for our dear friend Angela to give you a call! For I’m sure she would give you a copious reason why you should shrug off those negative vibes that seem to bother you. We all know her, right. She’s an Angel and would spread her comforting wings in no time!
When we’re in a difficult situation, shrug it off is easier said than done. At times it takes some guts to keep a clear head to see the rational side of the situation. But I think you're totally right about that. When things become difficult or burden weighs us down, we should shrug it off, figuratively speaking. Meaning, take it lightly and don't let it affects us. It's always been my battle cry that no hardship comes our way that's uncommon to man. Everyone suffers differently though but the outcome is always been the same. The insurmountable pain is eating us alive. But remember, nothing can pull us down lest we allow it. There’s always a bright side in every dark corner.
Have we mastered the skills of resiliency? Not a chance. Occasionally, we see life’s struggles as something unpleasant that we don’t wanna get involved with it. But unknowingly to some, that the very thing that makes us struggle, if taken positively, is the very core of resiliency. It molds, strengthens and builds our character. So, when you said you’re going through dark valleys in your life, I totally feel you, Mark. I was rejected, insulted, ridiculed for being different. The negative things being thrown at me were enough for me to lost my faith in humanity. But those stones that were intended to hurt, I used them as stepping stones for me to rise above the water and go on.
My apologies everyone for the long comment. I don’t wanna sound preachy here. But there’s no denying the truth that we’re going through hard times. We don’t know what’s the next person to us is dealing with right now. So we need to open our hearts and learn to be kind and be that person that makes a burden lighter to someone.
Till then, be strong and stay strong. Thanks a lot for the PEP talk.🌻

    Ugly??? YOU???😱😱😱
    I can't believe it!!!🙈🙈🙈
    He/she has done you wrong!!!
Who dared tell such a lie?????
You were right to just shrug this rude guy off!!!👏👏👏👍👍👍
If you ask me, this liar should be banned from your kingdom on the spot - for good!!!👋👋👋
When I get my hands on him/her.......😡😡😡
I remember your once asking me whether you could beat me at chess!!!
    Undoubtedly the answer is YES!!!
To tell you the truth, I was not able to beat my dad a single time!!! Not even when he was sick or had a fever!!!😁😁😁 HE always won!!!
You're THE GRANDMASTER in teaching English, Mark!!!👍👍👍👏👏👏
Unfortunately, I wasn't born resilient, it's rather a skill I had to learn first!!!
I don't let these things affect me, or weigh me down!!!
Words can't bring me down anymore!!! (Sticks and stones.......YKWIM!!!)
Though, even today I find it hard to bear when someone's offending my dear ones (my family and dear friends)!!!
    Thanks for the pep talk!!!

    Hi Mark
    Thank you for your work
Your vids are useful, I learned a lot from you
I'd like to know your take on something that relates to this video - on perceiving criticism. I believe you didn't want the vid to convey the idea that the only way to deal with criticism is just by shrugging it off. Perhaps, someone really means well.
For example, I wish you didn't overuse fillers such as "Ok?" and "Right?". I don't know, it might be a common teacher's habit, but it's not the nicest one, RIGHT?
You can shrug/brush it off like "You go unsubscribe and that's it, OK?"
But I don't want to! 🙏You're adorable except for...you know
