    I found these little filters built to put in the vents so it's not blowing anything into the room and have a hepa filter running at all times except when I'm doing SAB work and it's cut my contam down but it's for sure a part of the game, part of the fun is learning to avoid the pitfalls.

    Another great video! My entire house is a contamination vector (four dogs) and I knew that going into this venture so I made an extra special effort to limit or narrow my vectors but understanding (and from your advice as well) that contamination will be an issue at times.
    I also know that being a newbie I don't even know what contamination looks like half the time so vids like this that show contamination in situ are very valuable. I built a laminar flow hood, I built a still air box, I have gallons of Iso alcohol, I use gloves, I adhere to sterilization protocol, etc, etc, etc. Every day I look forward to learning more and thank you for being a part of that journey. I have several grows that are going very well and a couple that did not go well but there is still knowledge to be found in everything.

    I really appreciate you talking about contams, problems with grows, etc. It’s way more helpful for new growers. Most other channels show these amazing grows that happen fast and without any difficulty and it seems like everything should be so easy. When you’re new, shit happens at various stages, things don’t work out, your tubs stall and it’s hard to figure out where you went wrong. So I much prefer you talking about the struggles because it gives me hope. In fact, I would love to see a video about stalled grows, causes, what to do, etc. I have a bunch of stalled tubs that are fully colonized, no apparent contam, fruiting conditions seems good, and they’re just not pinning or fruiting and I don’t know why. They’ve been in FC for like 3 weeks. All different genetics. It’s super frustrating.

    One thing that can bring about black mold and probably other contamination is wireless RF frequencies.
    Black mold and other bad types of things like that apparently have been increasing since the wireless cellular began increasing.
    All these RF frequencies are weaponized in many ways including making us all nodes in the Internet of bodies, its already been going on for many years.
    Sabrina on odyssey knows alot about it.

Then put it on the stove with enough water and slowly (like low to halfway to medium) and slowly let it get up to 180, then pull it and allow it to drain. • @raulduke1528
    @raulduke1528 Рік тому

    One thing I noticed that may help your followers...if you don't fully hydrate your grain your mycelium and grain will get dry and you will not be able to rehydrate your grain later unless you use heat which you can't do at that point. This allows contam to get a head start after mixing your grain into substrate since our mycelium is slowed down due to it not being able to properly feed off it's grain. Proper grain hydration will allow your mycelium to properly feed throughout your colonization process. A good way to check is by making sure you can somewhat easily crush the grain in-between your fingers. If you can't crush it that means it probably needs more hydration. I like to soak popcorn all night and then pressure cook it for 35mins..i then drain and allow the excess water to evaporate off of the grain before adding it to the jars. I then pressure cook the jars for 1 and a half hours. Now inoc and watch your mycelium thrive! Mush love

    What brand of coir did you switch to? I recently found out that all coir is NOT equal. The garden coir tends to be purposely riddled with trich because it breaks down in your garden better. The coir for reptile bedding (terrarium) is left clean.
    I had nothing but trich problems using various brands from my garden center. I recently ordered some tried and true brand terrarium coir with hopes of good success.
    I have found some lists of problematic brands on the Shroomery... take it for what it's worth. This is a variable worth talking about.

I have read the the HA that you use has a small shelf life maybe 2 weeks max and wondered if that could be an issue for you. I also wondered if you have just gotten Trich spores in your environment which is very easy to do possibly in your air circulation . I am just a learner but with you years of experience I doubt your procedure has failed you so it is probably material issues like you suspect. Any way this is the best shroom channel out there and you deserve the growth. Thanks for your hard work. Gary

  • @limited-infinity
    @limited-infinity Рік тому

    Wow. I had the same mold. It is either Aspergillus/Penicill, Basidiospores, or Pithomyces. This happened to me this last winter. This is what I found in the air in my unit. More on this later…
    What I found, and I cannot figure out is, everything I did worked until late November 2022. I started in July 22 and it was NOT clean. Yet. Everything I did was perfect. I was blown away.
    Late November 2022 and it was went down hill. It felt like the cleaner I went the worse it got. I mean LC, agar, grow bags from different vendors. All of them went bad and it smelled really bad. Atrocious. It was also horribly expensive.
    I isolated the room, smaller room, cleaner air, you name it. I thought maybe it was a bad batch of agar plates. Then I said, “spore to LC. Those went bad. I thought, “maybe it’s the LC ingredients.” Admittedly, I think I did use the wrong peptone. I didn’t get the soy based.
    I had been using the same sterile techniques as a two months prior. That is when I really began to perfect on my process. At least I thought. I had the pressure cooker, LC, all stainless steel all sterile utensils. My earlier fruits were finishing up.
    But the upgrades and new plates … I dunno. It was bad. Finally I gave up and said, “maybe it’s too cold. It is winter..” my place gets warm but dry and I didn’t feel like risking worse contamination with a humidifier so by December, which was my 7th grow bag, and then I gave up. I said, “let me revisit in the spring.”
    I tried maybe 3 in January. All went bad. LCs smelled like yeast. It wasn’t worth it anymore. So I cleaned up. And decided I’d also had enough with the air quality in my place. In late February I hired an air quality engineer.
    I live in a colder climate and in an hoa. The heat is radiator steam. Except the radiators don’t let steam out. It does let the spent air our and sucks air back in. I was having trouble with them and odd smells in each room. The windows may as well be open because they let so much air in.
    The engineer brought several tools. Including an infrared camera.. She found all sorts of places where the air was coming in. I found more gaps. Found a vent pipe that was cracked in my laundry closet. (Shared by two units below me)
    Long story short, I believe it was the air quality. It is these dang heaters and all the other gaps in my baseboards , beside the windows etc. I mean I have window air conditioning in the summer and that wasn’t an issue. Once I took my air conditioners out. Closed up for winter, it went down hill.
    By march, I doubled and tripled down. My first inoculation was on April 8th. It’s not contaminated but finally ready to fruit. I see the pins. The room i used was gutted and redone. I put metal at the bottom of the wall and acrylic midway. Used a primer to prevent mold, an extra air purifier, now there are two. Metal shelves. You name it.
    Everything is finally back to the way it was but i will say this, once they shut off the heat, everything began to grow quickly. That was May 8th. Since then it sped up quickly. In the last two weeks, bag inoculated are showing rizzo 14-21 days in. My plates are happy. My newer LC is clear. I expect to be pinning very soon. Hopefully.
    Check your air quality. Including heat vents. Maybe put a new filter in there. Maybe over the heater vents. Unfortunately, I need to hire someone to come take my radiators out and clean them inside and out.

    I think alot where the contamination comes from is from spraying down the substrate. The water could be bad or you have some spores flying around land on the spray bottle nozzle and then you spray all those spores and crap on the substrate. If you do everything right you do not have to mist

    • @Mycophilia
      @Mycophilia  Рік тому +1

      Once fully colonized and the spawn was clean, it is very very hard to contaminate unless you have a seriously high spore load in your house for whatever reason. As for the mist, that wholly depends on the TEK. Some teks do need lots of misting, like SGFCs. I’ve had tubs go on for 4+ months. Misting and dunking galore, no contamination.

    Could your grain issues be from moisture content of the grain? I assume the mycelium needs some moisture for growth and movement.

    I had 3 inflatable circular monotubs using bulk substrate. One strain takes up to 55 days to colonize the substrate. I always get contamination when I do this particular strain. The other 2 tubs colonized within two- three weeks, the issue is when I introduce FAE, they appear to decolonize and the primordia display little bulbs but turns milky then turn yellowish in spots. I sterilize and autoclave everything 30mins longer than required. I wish I could send a pic to get feed back. Everything is from T3 grain spawn bags. I need help! I’m losing too much everything. I had better results when I was growing them in a house that was moldy. Now I’m in a newly built house!!!!

      It's been a long time since making this video, and the issues presented in this video have long since been addressed. I can't even fully remember what this video was about, but I believe ultimately the cause of my issues at this point was hidden contaminants in the cultures I was using. They came from dirty swabs, and oftentimes when the contaminants on the swab and spores and/or mycelium mingle, you can easily get embedded contaminants that are almost impossible to clean.

      @Mycophilia it's a mix of a Texas cubage and PE (PE6).

    • @Mycophilia

      Jars I pressure cook and clean with soap and water afterwards. Tubs I clean with just soap and water (bleach etc.. is overkill and will eat plastic, not to mention it’s pretty bad for the environment), and alcohol wipe prior to using (which I do with all my tubs anyways before spawning).

      With clean spawn they are very hardy. They grow on shit. At least with coir lovers, RH has nothing to do with it, unless you live in a desert. Your surface conditions will tell the story as to whether they’re happy or not. And these contamination issues have already been solved, nothing to do with any of the things you stated. No disrespect.
