I have two favourite sedge patterns, this one, which I have always known as a Baloon Caddis, and the G&H Sedge. Both very productive in the evenings on the Barrow and it's tributaries.
An Austrian friend of mine introduced me to this fly 30 years ago or so whilst on a fishing trip to Austria. I tie it in a variety of sizes. Works also for Grayling as well. Like you, I tie the body quite sparsely. Roman Moser is a very well known fly fisher in Europe, incredible caster and fly tier. Tight lines
Fly originated by Roman Moser [Austrian] George. Named by him as the Balloon Caddis. Made ever the more popular here in the UK by Oliver Edwards. Nice slant though. Always enjoy.
Hi, I love your content but on this pattern I have to disagree with you. This fly I fish on a grub hook usually a size 12 it brings trout and grayling up all season all times of the day … I use it on the Derbyshire rivers .
Brilliant I remember seeing something similar in trout and salmon years ago thanks for sharing George always excellent watching
Cool, thanks
That’s an easy tie George …should also work well in this part of the world ..thanks for sharing mate 👍
Let me know how it goes..

Love the sedge fishing..
Nice one George, thank you! I love a quick and dirty caddis - especially one I can see 😉
All the best to you and yours.
Many thanks!

So did I..
Nice presentation and one I will copy and try on Kiwi trout down-under. Regards.
Good luck!
Great video. Brilliant fly
Thanks for the visit
The bubble caddis. This fly is amazing in August on mountain streams in BC/Alberta.

Thanks george i enjoy your videos 😊
Thank you too..
Thanks as always George. Great information
My pleasure!
Another classic fly George. All I need now is a sedge hatch.
It's very slow so far, rain needed..
What's it like fished on lakes as opposed to the rivers? Great video as usual, thanks
Works a treat..
With that yellow it looks a bit like a bee. Maybe bees hitting the water as a result of the evening sun glare are good eating for trout?
great video
Glad you liked it..
