0:21 engines roaring to full sounds like those engines about melt the plane behind it as the fishbed instantly rockets off the runway at supersonic speed. That sound legit gave me more chills than a Stuka siren. Even in enemy possession, that is a beautiful steel bird.
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!!!! Finally a video that really shows what it looks like in the cockpit.....rear facing the front. All others are obsolete!!!!!!!BRAVO!!! LOVE THE MIG 21
Don't mind the UA-cam peanut gallery Steve, the people criticizing your flying are just jealous. I would have preferred without music, just the beautiful sound of the engine and the swooshing of the air through the tiny holes of the air duct. Held that nose nice and long after touchdown, good work man! The 21 is very close to my heart! ;-) Please contact me if you ever happen to fly her into Cody, WY, I would love to come and meet you both.
Awesome video! I love the camera view so that you can see where the plane is going but also see what's going on in the cockpit. May I ask what video system you used in this? I love the Garmin radio stack amid the Russian green and all the Russian gauges. I installed a similar setup in a MiG-23UB earlier this year. I work on L-39s for a living so some of those gauges are very familiar. Surprising how similar the cockpits of the 21 and 23 are.
mig 21 has an electronic system powered by an on board battery, thus it doesnt need ground power to spool up, the sabre most likely doesnt have an on board battery to start the engine
"the color chosen by Soviet designers helps to reduce stress and maintain a pilot's effectiveness on long missions." blog.cwam.org/2010/03/migs-and-mils-cockpit-color.html
@@sammyboy9876 supposedly it makes the pilots less likely to lose consciousness during high-g maneuvers. All soviet cockpits are painted blue/teal, the metal itself doesn't look like that.
Does anybody know if Mr. Rosenberg flew in the service. I wonder if he's wearing an anti-g suite. I have no idea if it's required by law or not. I suppose it would be wise to wear on.
And one more thing. I am sure you know about that, but if not, you must not to continue inverted flight ot negative g longer than 20 sec. becouse of fuel system, which is not able to fill No.3 fuel tank in such conditions. :-) Have fun!! Great vids
Just so that you know, with most Soviet aircraft, the helmet is designed to be an integral part of the ejection system. So if I were to go thru the trouble of getting into a MiG, I would most defenitly go the extra few feet and get the helmet too :)
It is said that one has to be very careful not to roll the mig 21 too fast or one can lose control of it as it rolls so fast. What have you found about the mig 21 roll? BTW excellent video ! Thanks for sharing. :)
That would be a MiG-21U, or something to that affect. Not a common aircraft so I'm thinking 100K may be a decent price, depending on the condition of the airframe and engine.
I would absolutely blame that on whoever maintains your jets, not the MiG-21. The MiG-21 is NOT known for its tendency to fall apart on it's own. It's known as an extremely durable and capable plane and I wouldn't be too ashamed to use them. As for investing in supermarkets instead of the military, typically supermarkets bring far more jobs and tax revenue to an area than newer fighters in the Air Force do. Once more people pay more taxes, then you can afford more fighters. Maybe not so dumb.
These can be had for less then 100k in fact I just saw one for sale for 80k in flying condition wish I had the money to fly it one flight of fuel must be about a grand? Sure have massive landing gear
yes i know mig 21 mast aproaching fast, i renember mig 21 from air base redzikowo near SŁUPSK in Poland maybe 7 kilometer away of my home. In poland 15-20 years before pilots no problem flying speed up sonicboom level on area of slupsk and other, if am a kid on easy slowly day on slupsk go with my friends on bikes and now BOOM! and i can't see plane! only big boom xD (maybe mig 23 i dont know). sorry for my english :) Best regards sonicboom is a normal +/- 15 - 25 years before.
die 8-punkt Rollen sind auch niedlich. was für ein militärisches Manöver liegt denn hier zu Grunde ;-)) soll doch eine SU-29 nehmen. dann kann er 2 Hände gebrauchen und seine 8-Pünkter fliegen...
These aren't known as the most stable of aircraft; most good fighters aren't. The MiG-21 in my simulator even flies this way (sorry, that's the closest I will ever come to being a real fighter pilot although I do have some stick time in L-39s). So this roll was probably done as well as anyone else could do it in a MiG-21.
My country air force still uses this plane. beacuse we have stupid politicians who think army is not the the thing to be invested in instead they invest in supermarkets rather then army or industry. Anyway this is a great airplane, when it doesn't have tendency to fall apart in mid flight while flying 780kph ( yeah that shit happend once during a traning in our airforce )
I know. If he really thinks we can't stand the sound of a jet engine in flight and must replace it with some mediocre soundtrack, at least he could use something original that's not on approximately 5,000 other UA-cam videos. Can you say "cliche"? The footage is great. The audio completely ruined it for me.
This would have been an excellent video if you kept the original audio of the aircraft itself. This cliched music, which everyone uses, makes me rate this video an F
Mig 21 is definitely my favorite mig 🥰
You've good taste my friend ......Steve
would have preferred the engine roar to the cheesy music

Nice video but why this damn music ? The sound of the engines would have been better... IMHO
Jet engines sound good only from the outside. ;)
Yes IYFO
The music makes it sound like he's intercepting the second wave of nuclear bombers and his aircraft is the only one not destroyed by the first one
Beautiful video. Great montage. Looks like upgraded version. Thanks for posting!

Awesome video- I've watched it a few times- amazing, you must have a blast.

Beautiful MiG 21
I'd do absolutely anything to get to fly or ride in a mig-21. Wish i had a bud that had one
gran video , uno de los mejores que eh visto en cockpit !!!
MiG-21R :) one of the most badass recon-planes.
the music ruined it! well done for that -___-
It's old, but it's definitely a smooth ride.
how come the f86 sarbe needed to be hooked to a machine to start the jet engine but the mig did not
mig 21 has an electronic system powered by an on board battery, thus it doesnt need ground power to spool up, the sabre most likely doesnt have an on board battery to start the engine
Why is the inside of the cockpit blue is it because it's easy on the eyes and they can see the dials and stuff better
Color of the alloy

i have no clue if its required by law, but that plane is pretty maneuverable so i would say its safe to wear one like you said
0:41 anybody know what plane that is on the left?
MiG 21 R number 2133 originally from the Czech military aircraft, now airworthy in the USA
Looks like the stick si going to handle really tough on some high speed manueveres.
And one more thing. I am sure you know about that, but if not, you must not to continue inverted flight ot negative g longer than 20 sec. becouse of fuel system, which is not able to fill No.3 fuel tank in such conditions. :-) Have fun!! Great vids
From the looks of it, took off out of Stead just outside of Reno Nevada.
Reno Stead Airport... Fun times...

Thanks for the very interesting and detailed explanation scimitar415.Great video.
Hi Steve. Looks like you're having fun. Hope all is well. Still have the 21? John Bell
Why would one ruin a video with music when they have engine sounds?!
I agree with you it was a" first effort". I will do better next time. Cheers SMR
what kind of plane is the one with the V tail @ 0:49 ?
Fouga Magister
BEST VIDEO OF THE MIG-21!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video!!, thanks for posting!
Awesome video...
Nice video. This plane served in Czech air force?
nice fast landing from cockpit
Where was this video shot? thanks
Very cool video, but shouldn't have any music.
It is said that one has to be very careful not to roll the mig 21 too fast or one can lose control of it as it rolls so fast. What have you found about the mig 21 roll? BTW excellent video ! Thanks for sharing. :)
thanks for the comment rgll rate i limit is 90 deg,sec if i exceeded the lateral stability was noticeably lost
Can someone tell me the name of the music used in the video? Thank you.
what's the name of the song?
LOL amen brother! Couldn't agree more!
Did you have jettison the speed chute? And who retrieves it for you?
they do have to jettison the chute at about 100km/h and the ground crew retrieves it for them.
I like the music what is that
How the heck did you even get that thing?
And how do I get one? Just saying beforehand, I'll live in a box if that's what it takes to afford one.
How many hours do you have in the MiG-21 to make that statement? Show me your video of you magically overcoming the known dig in issue in the 21!
That would be a MiG-21U, or something to that affect. Not a common aircraft so I'm thinking 100K may be a decent price, depending on the condition of the airframe and engine.
THAT IS YOU PRIVATE MIG???
no shoot at the end
sorry :bout the music.........first video
amazing
What i need to do to fly in a Mig-21 like these?? Its a beautiful plane!! God!!! I think that i will never see this.
awesome.
Czechoslovakia ❤
Czech Markings! One of our retired Mig-21s. It's kind of Irony to see 21 over US.
the music is way too dramatic.
A no-music version, please!
Those things are fucking rockets!

wow man.... thatz briliant o.O
I like music

No way
80k for a mig 21, oh hell
i think he convist me to bye a mig21 , i found one for 67000 dollars with 1920 hours year 1971.
and PLEASE PLEASE don't try to roll it as fast as it can to find out for me. ! BTW how many g's have you pulled? Again the SAME warning ! :)
What a lucky guy
Czechoslovak marking? .. hm...
Look...a Fouga Magistr there parked. Wow.
nice flyng perfect i wish to be a fighter pilote i want contacting you . thanks .
yes i know mig 21 mast aproaching fast, i renember mig 21 from air base redzikowo near SŁUPSK in Poland maybe 7 kilometer away of my home. Sweet !!
This guy is pretty unfamiliar with this aircraft.
Missing a lot on the angle maneuvers.
As long as he is having fun it's all good.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice landing, ride'em cowboy!
Great plane :) Ołówek :P

Czech Air Force..
Nice , but original sound is as much important as the video itself . ❗❗❗
yea czech mig-21 :D nice video
0:43 Fouga CM. 170 ;-D
Czech livery.......nice
the US pilot? i see helmet of US made?
thats the original soviet helmet, but yes us pilot
Thank god everyone is a fighter pilot on youtube or else we would never know how to do a correct aileron roll. ;)
Видеоряд классный, но обязательно нужно было гимн ютуба вставлять?!
Czech :o
Great vid, could have done without the music though but hey, whatever.
It's easier to fly that way
1:30 No! I can't believe you did this! You've ruined the video replacing THE MUSIC with this overused shit!
Aerobatics? ))) He can't even make a simple roll correctly (nose goes into the ground). But, it's still interesting watch. TY.
Could have done without the music.

Nice video but the music is definitely horrible, it doesn't match with the video.
Music is horrible.
