  • The battery stopped working 3 months after the repair.
    I should have tried another repair attempt, but I didn't.
    Some of you mentioned it’s an AGM battery and that I should have tried the AGM charging mode instead, but since the repair mode is common to both a conventional lead-acid battery and an AGM lead-acid battery I don’t think it would have made a big difference.
    LEDs indicators guide:
    25% Red LED: The 25% Charge LED will slowly pulse “on” and “off”, when the battery is less than 25% fully charged. When the battery is 25% charged, the red Charge LED will be solid.
    50% red LED: will slowly pulse “on” and “off”, when the battery is less than 50% fully charged. When the battery is 50% charged, the red Charge LED will be solid.
    75% orange LED: will slowly pulse “on” and “off”, when the battery is less than 75% fully charged. When the battery is 75% charged, the orange Charge LED will be solid.
    100% Green LED:
    Pulsing Green LED - Bulk charge complete, optimizing battery for extended life.
    Solid Green LED - When the battery is 100% charged, the Charge LED will be solid green.
    100% Green LED - Maintenance mode:
    After the battery is fully charged, the charger will continue monitoring the battery, and provide ongoing maintenance and optimization. The 100% Charge LED will pulse “on” and “off” slowly during these cycles. The charger can be left connected to the battery indefinitely.

    Thanks for the video. I was second guessing myself on how to do the repair mode.
    I have repaired a motorbike battery in the past and 6months later it’s still starts perfectly. Definetly worth the money 💰

    A solid green by itself means its fully charged! All the bars lit up with the green slowly blinking means its charging. Got that from the directions it can with

    I have the older model, which is no longer out, similar to the 10. The best battery maintainer I have ever had. I use mine on my motorcycle 24/7, if I don't ride. Fantastic for AGM and regular batt. It has a very good microprocessor. A must buy, zero issues and really keeps the batt alive.

      i have a 6 in 1 battery charger that has 2 dc power outlets it gives 1400 peak amps, 400w ac power. i leave it in the trunk of the car. can it power the noco maintainers the 2 or the 5? if so, for how long?

    Thanks mate, I didn't knew how to go into repair mode as the instructions just say to hold for 3 seconds and was going on 6 V only. 😃

    I’m currently testing the noco 5 on my car battery purchased in 2013 and after 2 1/2 years of use, sat, in the car, unused for another 3 years. Took it out of the car, measured voltage at the battery store at 7 volts (or dead)… measured at home with my analog voltmeter at 5 volts. Put it on the Noco at noon, last checked around 10pm that evening and the lights indicated close to full charge. Woke up the next morning (today), and the lights indicate back to first light or in the initial process of charging. So .. I’m not sure what happened overnight. Also, it’s now making a buzzing noise at the battery itself. I’m waiting to see when the lights go back to full charge before I begin the repair mode. This is a $200 US battery so I have high hopes. Battery has a 6 year life warranty .. we shall see!

    The official NOCO video said that you can only repair flooded lead-acid batteries

    Thanks for the video and demo, it was very informative. Have you heard of a Pulsetech Power Pulse passive desulfator? I have been using the PowerPulse on my BMW battery for the past three years and have no issue's with the car starting even though I only drive it about 25 miles per week.

    Good video, but you need to wait for the green charging light to become permanent green and not blinking. When it is still blinking it means it is still charging, although with slow current. The Noco genius 5 checks if the battery is still accepting charge and the green light will blink if the battery is accepting charge.

      Sure, but the battery being sulfated just gives you a false positive anyway. It may be solid green but it’s still dead in reality. The point of this video was to show you the repair. This battery was never going to be actually charged prior to the repair.

      @@megmeyers3432 I completely agree that the sulphation on the terminals will not allow complete charge, but the blinking indicates that the battery still accepts some minor charge. Probably would not have made a difference though and I only put the comment as it is in most case the right thing to do.
      Yes, the solid green only indicates that the battery does not accept charge anymore.

      @@megmeyers3432 no this guy doesn't know what he is doing. The battery was fine. Noco always starts at low red and slowly increases as it finds what charge it is on. It didn't "charge fast". The battery was fine as it stopped on green at the end. Mine does the exact same every time.

      @@philmcclenaghan7056 yeah. It does do that. So what I found out is you have to actually check the voltage. If your battery is topped up, it will appear to “charge fast” because of what you said. If your battery is dead dead as in sulphated, the same thing happens, but you can’t actually start the car. You’re like “hey, but it shows it’s charged!” But no, if you check the voltage, as in my case, it’s 2.5 v. That is D E A D. Lol. I was just soooo happy that the repair mode worked for me. No problems since then but I also installed a cut-off switch cuz I have a parasitic draw and can’t find it.

    Hi. The battery your are repair/charging is an AGM battery. You should use the 12 volt, AGM setting for the battery. Good luck. Nice video.

      @@PilotMega AGM is a lead acid battery. It stands for "Absorbed Glass Mat." The difference is, in part, a gelled rather than liquid electrolyte. The battery is a "Sealed Lead Acid" type that is most likely an AGM. The "Non-spillable" label is a dead giveaway. The battery is a valve regulated, sealed lead acid battery with gelled electrolyte. That's the long way of saying AGM.

      @@equalizer7775 No they are not. Basic batteries are Either "Dry Cell" or "Wet Cell." There are many types of battery chemistries, but they can be grouped together into a few basic groups. There are Flooded Lead Acid, Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM), Dry Cells (Common "Batteries") and others like Lithium Ion, etc.
      Wet cells can be "sealed" or have fill caps. Absorbed Glass Mat batteries have a gelled electrolyte and are sealed. Dry cells have a fairly dry electrolyte in them. All convert chemical reactions to electricity.
      The battery shown in this video is a "Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) Valve Regulated type. Essentially that means that the electrolyte is sealed into the battery case and not exposed to the atmosphere where it could lose volume. However it will off gas through the "valves" if it is overcharged or excessive current is drawn from it.
      Lots of "Modern Batteries" are AGM. They are used in emergency lights, electric wheelchairs, UPS systems, and things like cars and boats if you want a good stable battery that is "Maintenance Free." They are lots of "common" battery types and the type is mostly specified based on its end use purpose.

      I don’t think so! I don’t think it’s a good idea! You can probably brake the car’s electrical circuit

      @@PilotMega I tried repair mode on a car battery within the last 2 weeks. It was making loud zapping, crackling sounds! Snap, crackle, pop. I think I heard it bark. I don't think that old battery was salvageable to begin with, but the sounds were freaking me out. Just wondering if that's normal, like it's trying to electrify the plates with little bolts of lightning to break off the hard crystals, and that it's meant to be that loud? Did yours do that too?

      @@user-hz5yb4bh5v Haha. If the battery seems repaired, then that is why it is repaired. It's been zapped with lightning bolts from the repair mode. Common knowledge. You didn't need to use your x-ray vision

      Yes. It will just take more time. Anyway there's no straight addiction and charging is going according to the exponential.

    Eh!? You do not understand how the charger works. It ALWAYS starts off on low red bar and moves up. It is not quickly charging it.. it is slowly finding out what level the battery is and updating screen. Mine also does this and stops at Green.

      I charged other dead batteries and the lights sequence took about 9h and it didn’t show the green light until the very last moment. I will update the definition of each light indicator in the video description

      No, the battery doesn’t need to be charged to repair it. Remember if the battery is dead you can’t charge it.

      Ideally, the battery should be at a healthy/high voltage when the repair starts. Even a pretty knackered battery will hold a voltage shortly after you attempt to charge it, which just puts the chemistry in a better place to receive the somewhat stressful repair mode voltage. There's no guarantees repair mode will repair any battery, but you've got both a regular charge mode and a force charge mode for batteries even from 0V on the unit, so give it a try before repair mode, then try repair mode.
      If there's any life in the battery after repair mode, you're winning. if the battery is happier but not ideal try another charge then repair mode cycle after some days/weeks have past, using it normally in the meantime if possible. That will have given the chemistry a while to come to settle, and the second repair may undo a little more of the long term damage that the first repair couldn't get to. Don't try repair mode repeatedly though, it's a harsh process and it won't improve significantly, it's not designed for regular use - if you battery still isn't performing usefully, it's time to buy a replacement I'm afraid.

My battery was charging as I looked for informative videos about whether the battery was done charging if it pulsed...the one I watched before showed that the green light doesn't pulse when fully charged, which is what mine was doing. Then I watched this one, and I went and switched the repair mode while the green light was still pulsing...ah well, if it damages the battery more than it does good, at least it's the end of motorcycle season and I'll just probably buy a new battery next year...fingers crossed. As long as I can start my bike and take it to the storage for the winter I'll be happy.

      @@joseelupien1835 you didn’t do anything wrong. You could have started repair mode any time. If your battery is sulfated it is still dead even if the green light is solid. It just helps to have tried to charge it, but not necessary. Did it work for you?

    Noco is realy good but your video shows nothing explicit that it helps.no number no measurement, just talk
