Too many bills to pay now. But one day I want to be able to buy one because this was the first transceiver I've seen at one of dad's friends. I only got my license and callsign last year... but that transceiver and the hobby stole my heart when I was six )). For that reason I told my self that my transceiver will be the one I've seen when I was a kid and made me love the hobby so much hehe. 73... is a beautiful vintage TRX.

Thanks for this, I've been offered one and am mulling over if I should buy it. I do like old rigs and these are meant to be pretty reliable?

Not really, I bought two in unknown condition but physically fine. I am a qualified electronics technician with 25yrs service and sorting these out requires a lot of knowledge especially regarding high voltages as the PA runs at 600Volts and has 3 valves that are hard and expensive to buy. The originals are no longer available and American valves need circuit mods. A lot of parts are on Ebay and very expensive to ship abroad. Many of the capacitors will fail due to being 50 years old. So the fact that you have asked the question raises a lot of doubt as to whether you have the knowledge, equipment and skill to work on one of these. M0RLF UK. I have both receiving fine but not started on PA stages yet and need psu pcb for one of them.

@@ralphbeardmore9738 Thanks for your reply, ah yes I was offered one 9 months ago but have moved on since then. I decided that if it stopped working, it would be beyond my skills and was aware of the spares situation. At present I have four AR88 receivers in various stages of restoration. One is an LF and is working well.

150 watts from two sweep tubes that are rated at 30 watts plate dissipation does NOT quiet sound right? I have seen others here on UA-cam showing around 200 watts which again makes ZERO sense. The transceiver is rated at 100 watts PEP so why do people try & make it be something that it is NOT? I can understand the math & 150 or 200 watts PEP is totally IMPOSSIBLE from those Two 6JS6C Sweep Tubes. You live in a fantasy world.

Power Output: SSB 260 watts PEP DC In (130 watts out), CW 180 watts PEP DC In (90 watts out), AM 80 watts PEP DC In (40 watts out)

Read the manual and you will see the output or just google it on my bird 43 about 180 ssb and 80 on am/cw

@@robinpetitpas996 now that’s FUNNY.It’s rated at those powers on INPUT POWER which is HALF of that on OUTPUT POWER but Thanks much for the Laugh. You really should get your meter checked out.😂🤪😱
