- Barenaked Ladies perform "Brian Wilson" at the Farm Aid concert in Bristow, Virginia on September 12, 1999.
Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

Farm Aid's performances are donated by the artists in order to raise funds and raise awareness for family farmers. They've raised their voices to help - what can you do?
Breaks my heart to see Ed and Steve together and happy. Band isn't the same without him.
I was 10 when this performance took place and I remember hearing about the one guys drug problem and being sad that they weren't together anymore. I wish they could get together again. I was introduced to this song by my ex wife so it's fitting I guess
Canadian R&R HOF inducuction. Cried like a baby seeing the guys together again.
And to think that all Steven had to do to maintain that was not be a pervert. Oh well.
They weren't happy
It's been one week since I looked at this...
GenX cleaning the house to this in 2023!
Go away

He has a great voice
They're harmonies are spot on perfect, for a live performance

Barenaked ladies were never the same after Steven.
God I wish I could have seen these guys live in their prime. 2003 born didn’t get into them till this year but as a Canadian child I knew all their hits already from the radio.
As an 80's kid - There was something about going into grade 9 just as these guys wrote "Grade 9".
That's what the CD craze is for. Ya always can have a listen. In your car? At home? Yep.
God I love this song. Like if it got stuck in your head!
As I commented on another thread, it's kind of a theme song for me. Timeless, classic, brilliant.
Like this morning...
Ya know? For a live show? They've perfected the sound of this! One of their best performances for sure.
Late 90’s early 2000’s - such simpler times
Truth!
That "like Brian Wilson diiiiiiiiid" is operatic in a way I've never heard in any other pop song
Back in the olden days, when I had a wall telephone, this was my answering machine message- only with me singing-
I met them backstage at the Boulder Theatre. They were dyeing Easter eggs, and wanted me to join them.
You win the internet today. Tip my cap.
Likely story
Checks out
Please tell me it was labor day
Dear friend I know I am very tardy to the party at this point but I love this song and I read your comment and I love it. Thank you for telling this because that’s what I’ve always wanted to believe those gentlemen were like. Indeed you win my Internet even two years later
They are a treat to listen to live.
They are awesome live. Not overproduced in the studio
Saw them in 06 or 08 in van.
Great show
What a voice 👏
The Nekkids *miss you Steven !* 😢 Come Back and Stay For Good This Time ! 😀
Jim deserved some screen time especially at the end! He was shredding that upright.
One or for me The Greatest band that Canada produced! Salute!
Rush,April Wine,BTO,Guess Who,Gordon Lightfoot..etc
They were great. I still think I was given a gift when I saw them live
Bless your hearts for the ' thumba-up'... and that is a comment I made 4- years ago. I still concur .
So much has happened to me in 4 years. So much , but nothing ! .
In the ' real- scheme of things ' .
I got Kevin's autograph I have seen this band more times I can count I hope they play near me again soon soooo fun
Live songs like this are awesome get to see real musicians at work
How did I not get into this band back in the day?
Because they only ever had 2 good songs.
Tom welp you’re deaf.

I have had that happen to me also. Elvis is another one for me. When alive, I was not a great fan, but liked him. After he died, gained an appreciation of how great of an artist he was. And his voice.
Also, in the past, there were a lot of groups vying for our attention. The last half of the 20th century was the golden age of great pop music. While there are exceptions, today's music is made artificially in that it is not made with instruments. and seems pretty much the same. That also allows us to a second chance to discover something we had missed. Probably the more likely, I am getting older!!!
cos you are a ' follower '
and not a' leader'
@@Tom-lq6nn Nope. Their songs on the radio were good, their genius was in the story telling they did on the less popular songs. Conventioneers is amazing.
I saw them on tour in 99. Still one of the best nights of my life
Just saw Page perform with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra last night.Superb.He hasn’t lost a step and his new stuff is as good.He remains friendly and down to earth.Go see him if you can.Forget about the Ladies and SP reuniting.A lot of bad blood and he doesn’t to move a step back.Never works.Ask the Beatles,,Roger Hodgson of Supertramp,Genesis,Yes,etc.Let it go
Saw them live front row for the Postcards tour. Their stage presence was unlike any other. Always a go to when in a bad or down mood. They were unbeatable live. They would make up raps based off the city or events of the day. Tremendous.
I stumbled across this tune years ago and to this day I absolutely love it.
Saw them at Blossom Music Center in 2019, with Hootie and the Blowfish, just an incredible show, sold the joint out and didn't disappoint anyone that I could see.
Wow
That would have been a fantastic show.
Huge fan of both bands.
Seen both recently here in Scotland, but unfortunately not in the same gig. ♥️
I LOVE THIS BAND I'M FROM ARGENTINA AND THESE GUYS ARE GREAT!!!!!!! THEY USED TO PLAY AT YORDALE MALL WHAT A GREAT BAND !!!!!!!
Great performance.
I just Love this song!! Good band !I Love Brian Wilson!!!
One of the most touching rock-related songs tbat will ever be recorded. A tribute - and a funeral
This is a smokin' hot version of a classic composition by the BNL ...
Saw them in a small venue in Auckland, NZ. Magic. I still listen to them in the garage on the weekends.
First found out about them on Beverly Hills 90210.
I am sorry for you that you watched 90210. RIP
@@joeblough2485 Yeah, yep me about it. Don't know what drove me to do so
Saw them in Indy a long long time ago. One of the best live shows I’ve ever experienced!
So good 😮miss this energy
Love this song too. I'm Peter from Hamilton Ontario Canada and I hope that everyone had a great Christmas and a happy new year too
BNL just isn't quite the same without Steve.
Praying that healing for all involved will happen and Steve will once again be back with the Band.
Totally awesome
its just so darn good
Damn they’re good!
One of my favourite
I love this song, them and them singing live!! awesome band.
That voice ❤❤🎶🎙🤘🎸😈💗
Love this ❤
Awesome! Song
God Damn he is GOOD ❤❤❤❤🧡
Friggen magnificent stuff bros ! Someone give it up for BNL. How talented
God it sounds so good
Yes, for a live performance, the sound is incredible. Cudos to thier
sound engineering.
Dude just discover this awesome tune
awesome
Hearn, Creegan & Stewart are a music machine trio!
Awesome
Steven rules!!!!!
Pretty good footage at 1:50.
I love this song and so blessed to be apart of that pretech era where we didn't worry, didn't judge and just went with the flow and let the vibe get in us and take control! 🙏😎 Nowadays, even with their name they would probably be labeled discriminatory and they'd be banned 😔
The name always threw me off, but doubt they would get canceled. They seem fairly progressive with their views, hence the two men kissing part.
This comment is proof that I was born in the wrong time

Lol okay Boomer
I friggin love BNLs
So sad they don't play together anymore
69acanuck THEY DON’T? WHHYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!
Steve left the band a while ago now. So sad.
They got together for a couple songs just a week ago.
Chris Byers the band is still around and playing but without Steven. Steven left in late 2009, but Steven is now doing solo stuff
Just saw them in Tinley Park, IL backing Hootie and the Blowfish. They were over the top great
What's a bassist gotta do to get some screen time? Ignored throughout that blazing solo lol
Fully dressed men rockin out
01:50
Turn up Steven's guitar!
@Ken Clarke He’s classically trained. He gave a Ted Talk.
Want to see them in Pittsburgh, Pa. in 2020!
@2:17 when your drunk twin brother is in the crowd, 😂
I wonder? Did the BNL ever pay Brian Wilson any royalties for this great tune? It was, actually the one that put them on the map?
Please Steven page join your brothers and play your great songs again. Please!!!
👏 👍 ..... 🤞 !!
Turn back a Page and bring Stephen back 🙏
Did they forget to mic Steve’s guitar?
God I know this is such a throwback video but then and now I want to make sweet little bit Steven so bad damn all day and all night
Why isn't anyone recording the band on their phone? It's like they're just enjoying the moment. Weird.
Because phones didn't have cameras
It’s almost like this was performed before smart phones.
Just two guys missing, enjoying the moment.
Thank god!
The girl at 1:50.
Dude at 1:50....PLS get out of the frame!
the first guy sounds like tom green
3:10....best

Imagine being one of the top bands in the country and then saying to one guy " Hey you do Coke, you're outta here"
I have had that happen to me also. Elvis is another one for me. When alive, I was not a great fan, but liked him. After he died, gained an appreciation of how great of an artist he was. And his voice.

SORRY, I MEANT TO PUT THIS REPLY UNDER THE NEXT POSTER DOWN.
Top band??? ha ha ha
@@Tom-lq6nn Yes, one of the top bands in Canada at that time. The numbers don't lie. You do remember they successfully crossed over to the States market as well?
@@glengratto Maybe a top selling band at the time but so was Drake, neither are a top band.
If Peter Griffen:
Did some cardio and dieted
Joined a Canadian folk band
He would be Steve Page
We don't call it cardio, up here we call it coke.
Haha We call it tony
"...COKE"AND A "SMILE"✌️

I couldn’t stand these guys. Great musically. But just couldn’t stand their music.
not a barenaked ladies fan but they are a good band and good sense of humor. I love the good sense of humor. but they are very boring in concert. please no nasty replies. just stating my opinion.
Youre opinion is trash pls no nasty replies on my comment
