I think 128 was perfect. It proved the GameCube’s power to have loads of 3D models, just like it was supposed to, and then evolved into cult classic game Pikmin.
I remember the good old days when every time I played kinect on my 360 a certain end of my couch would be recognized as another player and joined our game and we never figured out why. We literally had our couch running with me and my brother in levels.
I either forgot that tech demo existed or blocked it out of my memory (or never saw it) but geez they had that idea in the works forever. And the way things are going it may end up being yet another Duke Nukem Forever.

Well, they have already said that it was going to be in multiple parts in 2015. So, I was genuinely surprised when people thought it was going to be the whole game when it came out. Anyway, thank gawd the Remake was great! I was kind of skeptical about it at first since this is a game that I already know what is going to happen. So, a flashy HD upgrade might get old fast but thanks gawd they added tons of new content and new story points whilst still maintaining the original story.

Actually, that Wind Walker originally planned to use the same art style of the tech demo. However, Nintendo decided that the GameCube Zelda game should use Cell Shading and should show off the GameCube’s water rendering.
One of my favorite "playable" tech demos is Pokemon Snap on N64. The game looked absolutely amazing visually and really pushed the N64 to the limits in terms of visuals!
I always thought that Mario 128 became Pikmin in a way. Just take the idea of a hundred plus characters running around on screen and boom you have a game.
The Kara tech demo was demonstrating the engine used in Beyond: two souls and we eventually got Kara in Detroit a gen later. Is the Kara tech demo a far comparison as to what you would see the engine do in Beyond?

honestly i think that Nvidia and ATI/AMD tech demos from the 90s and early 2000s are among the best, they show exactly what the graphics card does and doesn't tease you because you aren't expecting them to be full games and they are interesting and some even tell a simple story
