This is a great video, not just the generic stuff you see on UA-cam - concrete stuff you can take to the course. My goal this year was to consistently break 90. Broke 90 several times, frustratingly shooting 90 quite often, lol. Kept in the back of my mind that I would crush 90 at some point, as per Matty’s promise. Finally today shot an 82, just as the big man promised - likely the last game of the year for Ottawa, Canada. Great content, keep it up.

WaddaTeacher. I needed this. According to the shot scope I purchased this year, at 15 hcp I barely putt like a 25 handicapper, with a massive negative strokes gained (ie strokes lost) chasm inside 10 feet. Thanks Tim5124 for the metric system conversion.
I have always been a pretty good putter but after these last few videos and a lot of practice it has gotten to another level. I rarely miss putts inside 10 feet. Was not swinging very well last round, only hit 3 greens but I got up and down 10 times and drained my first eagle for a personal best 25 putts. I don't think about putting anymore, just look at the hole, hit and listen. Great video.
Plays that second last sentence you wrote is pretty much THE ULTIMATE PUTTING MACHINE. You are doing nothing to get in the way. You’re merely using your instincts and being free. Wadda man
This us my favorite golf channel.....by far. This guy knows so much. Things that others dont know. Cant know. He's got some special power or something. Oh well...i guess thats why thay call him the Golf Psychic.
Learning that you can look at the hole and generally find the fall line is huge for me. Going to try this next time I go practice and see how I can use it to my advantage!
Had to replay this to get the point - once I did it made sense. I’ve been using your approach for 6ft and in so will now develop this…90% 4 o’clock (and 2, 8 and 10 which you didn’t mention) the most difficult to work out - so calc 10% then minus it. I trust you - I see so many of my partners under read…
Went to my golf course to test it. It works. It is hard to believe that a cup to the right feels much further when you are standing over the ball, then you actually aim. Love those 5-7 feeters now. Matty boom boom is a Bizauskas
Great information and methodology. I use a clockface too I visualize around the cup, as in this line a 5:30 putt entering the cup just where that would be on the clockface. I believe plastic liners are used to protect the cup from damage, from say a ball hitting the edge of the cup.
Loved this video! It explains so well why I'm not making more 4-10 footers. What are the percentages for 1 and 2 o'clock? I'm guessing they're a little less than the uphill putts.
Sponsored? Sure thing. But I bought the 12’ Prime Putt and love it, and regular practice absolutely improve my scoring and resulted in confidence over putts… confidentially makes the game a lot more fun. It’s a quality product for a reasonable price and if you’re going to practice at home the extra quality is good value.
for non bilingual people, the break (inches) = slope/2 x length of the putt (feet) is the same thing than : break (in centimeters) = 4 x slope x length of the putt (in meters)
I'm going to have to memorize that formula. A potential time saver, if you don't like too much math. The target at 3/9 o'clock is the same target for every other putt. It should be the new hole for all putts the same length. It even gives you the actual length of putt for your slope, whether you're downhill or uphill. Look up Geoff Mangum if you want the in-depth reason for it
Might be a dumb question, but how does the multiplication of the 3oclock read change when putting it downhill (from the 10/11 and 1/2 o'clock positions)?
Is it legal to draw a ruler on your putter shaft and use during completion to quickly and accurately find the inches calculated outside the cup? Asking for a friend, and said friend can’t find the answer in USGA rules. Assuming it would not be allowed in competition.
There are no rules against painting a club any way you want. Change colors every inch...also write a letter to your mom with the putting formula and laminate on your grip. You could also draw 1-2-3% angled aim lines on the putter head if you want.
Matty spitting facts as usual... 10 minutes of wisdom, and all for free.

Putting practice notes
1 ft putting aiming
If you miss these take up scrabble
2 ft putting aiming
Inside half of cup on high side.
3 ft putting aiming
Inside edge of cup on high side with pace
4 foot putting aiming (just inside edge)
1% slope = just inside the edge of cup
2% slope = half a cup out from just inside edge
3% slope = full cup out from just inside edge
5 foot putting aiming (the actual edge)
1% slope aim point edge of cup
2% slope aim point half a cup out
3% slope aim point full cup out
6 foot putting aiming (the just outside edge)
1% slope = just outside edge of cup
2% slope = half a cup from just outside edge
3% slope = a cup from just outside edge
Clock reading with slope % for 7-10 ft putts
Find no break line = 12 and 6 o clock
3 and 9 o’clock is 100% break base of formula
Find the slope % of 3 or 9 o’clock
4 and 10 o’clock is 90%
5 and 11 o’clock is 50%
5:30 and 11:30 is 25%
The inches from center of cup = aim point
Formula
Break (in inches) = slope (%) \ 2 X ft of putt.
Formula for 1% slope
1/2 =.5 X 7ft = 3.5 inches from center of cup
1/2 =.5 X 8ft = 4 inches from center of cup
1/2 =.5 X 9ft = 4.5 inches from center of cup
1/2 =.5 X 10ft = 5 inches from center of cup
Determine clock location and determine final inches from center of cup by multiplying inches from cup X clock position %
Example: 5 inches X 5 or 11 o’clock (50%) = 2.5 inches
Formula for 2% slope
2/2 =1 X 7ft = 7 inches from center of cup
2/2 =1 X 8ft = 8 inches from center of cup
2/2 =1 X 9ft = 9 inches from center of cup
2/2 =1 X 10ft = 10 inches from center of cup
Example: 9 inches X 5:30 or 11:30 o’clock (25%) = 2.25 inches
Formula for 3% slope
3/2 =1.5 X 7ft = 10.5 inches from center of cup
3/2 =1.5 X 8ft = 12 inches from center of cup
3/2 =1.5 X 9ft = 13.5 inches from center of cup
3/2 =1.5 X 10ft = 15 inches from center of cup
Example: 12 inches X 4 or 7 o’clock (90%) = 10.8 inches
Formula for 4% slope
4/2 =2 X 7ft = 14 inches from center of cup
4/2 =2 X 8ft = 16 inches from center of cup
4/2 =2 X 9ft = 18 inches from center of cup
4/2 =2 X 10ft = 20 inches from center of cup
Example: 18inches X 5 or 11 o’clock (50%) = 9 inches
Thanks Matty! I just added a Abacus to my bag 😂 cheers to 1 putting!
This is exactly the putting help I needed. Saved me several strokes in a round yesterday.
nice playa, what did you notice?
Your roadmap was easy to follow. I was much more confident with my aiming on putts less than 10 feet which took pressure off my wedge game. Thanks!

Way to go my friend...fabulous video...I have a hard copy of what you demonstrated, I prefer what you did...absolutely "money".
So love this channel Matt so knowledgeable on the game

Awesome. Just a number game if one can can read the slope. Awesome. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Hey Matt this was so useful to me to bad my golf season is almost over😞...next year I'm going to be a putting fool.
I think I need to watch this twice more to grasp what knowledge Matty Boom Boom is dropping.
Swasdi! Great video!

It’s all i use because its too hot to practice out here in these streets. 15 min a day OSS all it takes off focused putting mat practice
very good

Know what I'm say-n? Sheet! 🏆
Cmon podner
This is going to cause me a lot of swing thoughts lol man why does putting have to be so hard!
Was waiting for this video! 😂 No credits 😜
Thanks Matt. What percentage of the side hill break are the 1 o'clock and the 2 o'clock putts? Loved Geoff Mangum's site when it was around.
and how do we determine the percentage of slope on an actual green?
Like i said in the video, practice with a level and you’ll eventually feel and see slope easily.
TMI for me. My 4some would be playing 6 hour rounds. I'll just eyeball it. Love your work though. thnks
The Weber gives Braii Baus vibes, playah!!
Beast mode tuition like a Baus
Matty, Scottie needs your help. LOL
Where do you let Bobby Digital do his work? At the cup? At the ball? In between? Danke
cute cat matty
Immediately putted better after this video
my brain hurts 🙂
great info regardless!
Bobby Digital shout out WU TANG
What is this about? I only saw adorable doggies and then he was on a putting green for some reason.

All sounds great but it’s too much all at once for me 😆

Wow!!!
How do you read greens that aren’t familiar

A putter head is as wide as a hole, around 4 inches. Grips are 10-12 inches.

I've gone to the pub 😂
Bom Bom its raining gold nuggets we can take this to the bank, but do you mind if i don't share. cheers
Lots of info there Matty!😅
How do you adjust for grain? For those of us putting on Bermuda?
I don’t really adjust it and i play on Bermuda
Bryson collab when?
We'll all be single figures next year!
Half way through, thinking "...the vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true".
What is a one percent slope. What is a two percent slope? How do you know
3:03
@@GolfSidekick 1% slope is equal to the thickness of a quater 2%= 2 quarters and so on
If 3 o’clock is 100%, 4 o’clock is 90%, etc., does it work the other way too? (I.e., 2 o’clock is also 90%, 1 o’clock is 50%.)
It all funnels to the fall line but i want you to experiment yourself to find out if it’s the same
@@GolfSidekick I will, Sensei. Thank you.
What the fuck? This is insane but amazing.

I've got one leg 2cm shorter than the other 😳. Now what for Aim Point 🙄🤣
🤯
Great, but what is an inch? 😅
1 penis length
Is he trolling us?
What if we don't have a tape measure 😅
Just takes about 1 minutes of thinking. So better question : what if we don’t have no brain
@GolfSidekick I always struggle with inches...
Where is pops?
Isn't there a AI App 😅
Great information.
I just sent an email to the Wallbrook Institute to see if Raymond Babbitt was available to be my caddy.
All these courses are removing holes on the practice green and putting up stupid little flags
That’s perfect
