Hey man just watched your video and it’s great. I have a ‘03 350z which I’m swapping an hr in. I bought a wrecked 07 350z that is everything I need but the motor has 180k miles. Do you think I should do the gallery gaskets while the motor is out before putting it in the other car even if my oil pressure is fine?
hi. I bought a chiseled crankshaft and then bought inserts for it. I also changed the gallery gaskets. I measured the pressure on a 5w40 synthetic and showed 0.75 bar (11 psi) when fully warmed up. Is it not enough? are the liners bought after buying a wasted crankshaft to blame for everything?
Please don't hate me for asking. You seem like a knowledgeable guy. Would a vq35de block mate up to a HR heads and intake system? I probably need a ECU swap and some wiring. But I built my bottom end with forged. And didn't think about how the HR has better valve timing system. It be a Frankenstein build but have you ever heard it done?
Never heard of it. But my question is why you would bother to keep the DE block. The piston rings are trash in those cars that’s why they tend to burn oil. HR block far more superior in my opinion.

Hey Tony, I’m getting an engine swap due to my hr having rod knock due to gallery gasket leak. But because of the expense of doing full timing job and it not being necessary on a 70k mile engine, just want to confirm, can the gallery gasket job be done on its own ie without doing any of the timing? And if so is there anything you think is highly recommended to do at the same time like guides or tensioners or water pump. Basically the minimum effective job for a 70km engine purely as maintenance while the engine is out. Thx brother.
You have to take off the timing chain to do the gallery gaskets. So you will either need to mark where they are before you take it off. Or use the markings already on it and align everything back up. I kept the same water pump. I would only see you needing to replace it if the pulley is loose.
Please I need help , question and cannot find answers Vq35hr 350z 2008 A/T 151km I have all the symptoms of blown gallery gasket, but I was stupid that I didn’t change since I started to have the symptoms since almost one year I am not driving the car hard , very rare when I have aggressive drive only high way I am having recently slightly ticking noise Is it worth to replace the gallery gaskets, water pump, thermostat or do I need to replace camshaft or rebuild or just buy engine or sale the car Please need answer
You waited too long my boy. Gallery gaskets are the least of your worries now. I’d focus more on what’s making that ticking sound. Got to stay up to date with maintenance

Does anyone have any idea how to identify the year of a vq block out of the car? I got a vq37 block with no way of knowing if it has the updated gallery gasket.

did you teach yourself on how to work on cars? i have a 350z that i wanna do maintenance on the engine but i’m scared to strip bolts or break anything important
I break stuff all the time. I filmed myself doing this for the first time. I've had 2 cars before but haven't dove into them this deep. We learn together here. I dont have prior knowledge of doing this job.
Marked the timing on where it was at when I first opened up the motor. But still ended up setting it back to tdc. More peace of mind knowing that it’s perfect
Any issues with belt slippage running the A/C bypassed like that? Any track time? If the crank pulley is the same diameter as stock, belt part number? Thanks.
No issues at all. Hasn't been on an actual track but I do beat the living heck out of it. Don't have the part number on hand but its in one of the videos doing the actual ac delete.
not sure if it’s my galley gasket or not, but whenever i push my car heavy my oil pressure reads 0 and then disappeared after a few seconds. sometimes flashes but after a while it’s just gone
Normally I would use some permatex ultra grey. Unfortunately they didn't have any at the auto parts store so we had to make due with another brand. No leaks though.
My oil pressures at pretty much 0 when the cars warm (I don't drive it anymore cause of that) also I noticed when I first saw the issue when I made a turn the pressure would go up any ideas I wanna get it fixed. I already replaced the galley gaskets.
Keep tension on the chain until you remove the tension. But there’s a good amount of pressure on that chain. Didn’t affect anything with taking it off this way.

Yeah i got all open timing chain tentionor broken made lil slack to chain but droped oil pan seen lil shaveings of metal
Sheesh that’s not good bro. If the tensioner broke then it’s probably gonzo
Yeah u think ama need whole new engine ?
Or u think i can replace those things n well be good for a while
Your awesome!!
I appreciate you. Much love💪🏽💯
@@tuned_tunas Thank you for the reply brother. So unless signs of significant wear or anything loose, its fine to just do the gallery gasket?
Yessir. Thats all I did.
Please I need help , question and cannot find answers
Vq35hr 350z 2008 A/T 151km
I have all the symptoms of blown gallery gasket, but I was stupid that I didn’t change since I started to have the symptoms since almost one year
I am not driving the car hard , very rare when I have aggressive drive only high way
I am having recently slightly ticking noise
Is it worth to replace the gallery gaskets, water pump, thermostat or do I need to replace camshaft or rebuild or just buy engine or sale the car
Please need answer
You waited too long my boy. Gallery gaskets are the least of your worries now. I’d focus more on what’s making that ticking sound. Got to stay up to date with maintenance
@@tuned_tunas man i got back my soul 😂😂
Really Sorry for my big query need advise
I am not that good in mechanic so I went to two different garages in my area exactly after your reply 😂, they both said that is the normal sound for v6 engines and it’s not hybrid or v4 engines that quiet and said it’s not much bad since I have no oil light and my oil pressure is not 0 ( it’s 10 psi fully warm idle, around 45 psi at 2500 rpm warm and cold start sometimes 60,70,80 psi depends on the weather since I am living is dubai sometimes temp up 44 degrees
The main symptoms that I have is the engine after driving around 10 mins and reaches to operation temp is hesitating at very low rpms like when I am starting to move from signal with gentle acceleration plus the gauge is still below Nissan spec like that
I did all relearns replaced many sensors including throttle bodies , checked vacuum leaks too
ua-cam.com/users/shortsNIlHb-Qcj_o?feature=share
Please I want your advise what is important and not much expensive that I need to replace with gallery gasket and what I can do to wake up the engine
@@tuned_tunas
Maaan please I need your advise
Please note that my oil pressure is after fully warm up is around 8-10 psi / 2000k rpm around 40psi / cold start 80 psi
I have sputtering rpm after warming up only low rpm and very slow acceleration
I did these 4 tries to confirm that I have vtc issue
These results confirmed by driving long distance with every try just to confirm the results
1 - disconnected vtc plugs both sides = issue gone
2 - disconnected vtc plug right side only = issue gone
3 - disconnected vtc plug left side = issue gone
4 - plugged vtc plugs both sides = got the issue back
Really want to confirm before I waste more and more money
I know the gallery gaskets needs to replaced but for now ,This sputtering will be fixed after I replace this vtc or the oil pressure will be the main issue? , I know and saw in groups some guys their oil pressure is less that 8 psi and they don’t have this sputtering
if the replacement will fix , do I need to replace both sides full covers assembly or just the variable valve timing solenoid
how many miles did it have on it? when you did it??
Had about 130k
What serpentine belt are you using? Just noticed your not running the ac compressor
Got a video on that as well. And I have it linked in the description
This channel is fucking heat bro
Much love bro🙏🔥
what do you recommend replacing when doing this job? i’m at 172,xxx miles 08 g35hr
I only changed the gaskets. I didn’t bother with anything else. Didn’t see anything wrong with the stuff so I kept the same one.
Does anyone have any idea how to identify the year of a vq block out of the car?
I got a vq37 block with no way of knowing if it has the updated gallery gasket.
I have no clue my dude. Hopefully someone does.
hey Tunas, do you have an email or something where someone could contact you for any questions? i have a couple before I go ahead and start doing the same thing for my Z. I'm glad you showed everyone how to fix this issue though, i appreciate you doing this for everyone!
We have our Instagram linked in the description in every video bro. That’s the best way to get ahold of us. I appreciate the comment. I don’t take that lightly🙏🏽💯
@@tuned_tunas thanks bro, appreciate you replying!
Badass bro, im gonna use this video when i hop into this job... if you could PLEASE reply to some intial question i have and then possibly when i get into the job... thank you in advanced
No problem. Feel free to comment or dm us for a faster response. Our IG is always in our description.
Damn man u wanna come help put mine back together today I'll detail your car lol
That’s a deal that I’d actually take. I don’t tend to clean my cars😂😂
Thanks for this.
Always💪
Needed this video
Glad to help bro. Got the timing video coming out in a few days.
did you teach yourself on how to work on cars? i have a 350z that i wanna do maintenance on the engine but i’m scared to strip bolts or break anything important
I break stuff all the time. I filmed myself doing this for the first time. I've had 2 cars before but haven't dove into them this deep. We learn together here. I dont have prior knowledge of doing this job.
I’m going to attempt to do this, this weekend. I hope I don’t fuck anything up.💀
You got this my guy. Hit me up on IG if you need help
How’d you mark the timing? Without setting it to top dead center?
Marked the timing on where it was at when I first opened up the motor. But still ended up setting it back to tdc. More peace of mind knowing that it’s perfect
Any issues with belt slippage running the A/C bypassed like that? Any track time? If the crank pulley is the same diameter as stock, belt part number? Thanks.
No issues at all. Hasn't been on an actual track but I do beat the living heck out of it. Don't have the part number on hand but its in one of the videos doing the actual ac delete.
Tuned Tunas thanks, I’ll check it out.
Glad to help
You trying to fix my Infinity G35 2005 I'm in California dealership told me same problem?
The job is honestly not that bad bro. But if you aint trying to do it DM me we can work sum out.
What tip you used to take out the broken bolt to not miss up the threads
I prayed and used a bolt extractor. I got it at Ross. It’s a drill bit type.
not sure if it’s my galley gasket or not, but whenever i push my car heavy my oil pressure reads 0 and then disappeared after a few seconds. sometimes flashes but after a while it’s just gone
Could be. Cant go wrong with changing it anyways. Maintenance before mods
is that big timing cover sealed with permatex?
Normally I would use some permatex ultra grey. Unfortunately they didn't have any at the auto parts store so we had to make due with another brand. No leaks though.
My oil pressures at pretty much 0 when the cars warm (I don't drive it anymore cause of that) also I noticed when I first saw the issue when I made a turn the pressure would go up any ideas I wanna get it fixed. I already replaced the galley gaskets.
Not a clue man.
Did you figure it out?
@@mosdiy8096 no man ended up selling it unfortunately...the guy I sold it to LS swapped it Lol it's a monster now
Why did you not replace the oil pump when you were in there?
Nothing wrong with my oil pump. Didn’t see a reason for it. Didn’t change out the water pump either. It’s fine.
Are you in Texas ?
Definitely not. No disrespect to Texas. We just located in Cali
Nice background music 😉
Only the best !!
I have a 2012 FX35 do I need to do this? 107k miles
Check oil pressure. That will let you know
What happened at 11:28? Is there any way to avoid that jump?
Keep tension on the chain until you remove the tension. But there’s a good amount of pressure on that chain. Didn’t affect anything with taking it off this way.
How often does this need to be done?
I could be wrong but I’d say every 90k miles. As long as you took out then stock paper gaskets you’ll be good
@@tuned_tunasthat’s reassuring haha. Looking at picking up a 2009 370z with 60,000km on it. So I guess it’ll be good for a while. Thanks for the response.
I got a question what torque tool do you use? Don’t know which one
What torque tool ??
Harbor freight torque wrench
How many hours did this job take?
First time took me 2 afternoons. Once I knew what I was doing in terms of timing. It goes by a lot faster. But I let the RTV cure overnight.
Hey bro! question i took mines apart i didnt mark timing chain so i know how things are lined up. Will it be hard to time without taking valve covers off. Advice needed bro thanks. I dont care if you write 4 paragraphs detail step by step Lol!!
Its okay if you didn't mark your timing chains. They have marks on them already to help you time it. Its easier for me to time without valve covers but I dont see why you wouldn't be able to. I made a video about it as well. So instead of typing it all out. Here you go !!

How long it took you to get it all done?
2 days
Why did you buy the garbage gaskets again. You should’ve got the reinforced ones
On the website it said these are not the original ones. They're upgraded oem with metal in them
The OEM ones were upgraded. They're fine
Where you from bro can you work on my 370z timing chain kit hit me up I stay in LA
We are far apart my dude. I’m up north
Cuál es la presión normalmente en ralentí?
Que este bien apretado.
Where is the timing video bro ?

Tuned tunas how much would you charge me to change mine on my hr lol?
I do these videos to educate and share the knowledge so people can feel confident doing it themselves. But if you still feel like you can't. I might have someone who can. Feel free to DM us
@Tuned tunas I felt pretty confident until me needing to adjust timing and timing is super important so I don’t wanna mess up my engine, but yea if you can help me out that would be awesome I’ll buy all parts and pay cash I stay in Fontana ca idk if we are too far fam🤞🏼
Yeah we are definitely pretty far bro !! About 6hrs driving. I got a video on how to get perfect timing on your VQ but if you rather have a proffesional do it. I trust Unique motorsports in rancho Cucamonga.
Damaged threads in aluminum = Heli-certs and send it.
Haha why didn't I think of this😂🔥
What kit did you get and from where??
Says in the video bro. Upgraded oem gaskets from z1 motorsports
Torque ?
Only thing I torqued was the gallery gasket bolts and that was to 14ft/lbs
Shame on Nissan for using Phillips screws in those gaskets.
In the newer generations of 08 g35. Where do I check the oil pressure doesn’t have one
You can always check it with up uprev with a data log. There’s no option on the stock car. That’s a luxury car which explains the lack of gauges
Damn my z has 80k miles and the oil pressure isn’t to where you say should i have this done ??
Most definitely. Not only are you keeping up with maintenance to make sure it’ll run forever. But not hitting proper oil pressure could be loosing power based on how bad it is.
How’d you get the coolant line off
Which one ??
What’s the ball thing you used to get the gunk off called
Its a ball sander. Got it at harbor freight. I recommend a plastic scraper. You can find those at autozone. They are blue and the blade is orange. Way better.
@@tuned_tunas Thanks bro

Do the 03s have this issue?
Not as common but something to keep in mind. Keep an eye on that oil pressure guage
Did you post the timing video
Yessir. It's the video after this one
ua-cam.com/video/-xVLUAZSq3o/v-deo.html
A good way to remember where all the bolts go back is to trace out the timing cover on a large sheet of cardboard
Yes agreed I just put them all in small baggies and labeled them. Jist my preference. Everyone got their own
Ayyy my boy works at Costco aha same
Ohh you seen that😂😂💪
I’m definitely missing 3 bolts
At least you know bro. Now you can fix it
Is it just the camera or is the crank pulley bent to sh*t?! Wtf happened lol maybe change that?
Most likely the video bro. Bought the pulley new and used it for over 20k miles. Been holding up great
Should of got the galley gasket from conceptzperformance
They sent me theirs on accident and I didn't like the quality.
Tuned Tunas that oem shit going to fail again bro eps tuning redesigned the gaskets
Everyone I asked said these work fine. But we'll be putting these to the test.
Tuned Tunas they made the new style to prevent the oem from leaking again in the future
If we have any issues with these we'll give those a try. We appreciated the feedback🙏🔥
How do you remove the oil dip stick do you just pull until it comes out didn’t wanna break it ?
There's a 10mm holding it.
Where did you get all these?
Get what the gaskets ?? Z1 Motorsports
@@tuned_tunas yeah my leaks oil from there right onto my alternator and it’s coming from up top
