Supposedly "original gangster”, can be seen as “old generation", personally viewed as “old-school”. I’ve been into Korean music since 1998 when I was 15, and since then, an "OG KPOP STAN" was born. For a bit of dance background details, feel free to check out my "About" section!

Their debut song is called Macaroni cheese, so the whole drive thru concept and meal in XXL is a callback (same for Verbal Jint, mentioning it in Posse Up). What I like about YP is that their songs are FUN: MV, sound, lyrics, looks... pure fun.
And 808 is a bass drum sound that you can hear mainly in hip hop and trap songs
A huge emphasis on "Fun"
Most music videos nowadays try be super deep, complicated or just try over do all the cinematography (which isn't a bad thing) but the essence of music videos back in the day is to just have the artist in a video and just go at it. Like in XXL, the video quality looks too Raw and giving it that 90s vibe and the rest is just organized mayhem. lol
The whole video is a metaphor for rookie group. They are trying their hardest,but when they get on the literally big screens, the people started to attack them with hate comments, emoji. And in the end they are still struggling to get a spot.
We need a young posse otb and scars reaction asap. They are becoming one of my fav groups out right now

You GOTTA listen to their debut Macaroni cheese! They’re my favourite 5th gen rookies right now alongside Kiss of Life. Their music videos are visually the most outlandish ones I’ve seen recently and I LOVE IT. If I’m not mistaken, that rap done by Sunhye in XXL is the fastest rap syllables per second done so far in 5th gen. I’m obsessed with each one of the members’ rap flow like heck even the main vocalist has insane flow, in Posse Up (she’s the one who has the line “it’s been two months since I learned to rap, it’s really hard to write lyrics…”). I love that the whole premise of most of their songs has underlying messages about THEM as a group, they mention their ages/birth years, how they feel, commentary about them being overlooked as artists because more popular and cookie cutter groups are favoured, etc. They’re not afraid to be unserious, they’re not afraid to be unique and have their own quirks (their debut song is literally about Mac & Cheese, and it was written by the main rapper/leader when she was daydreaming about having Mac & Cheese😭), they’re not afraid to call out parts of the industry/idol experience. INSANELY talented group, I really hope they get rookie of the year (they’ve basically manifested it through this album already lol)

This comment gets spammed alot for kpop group comments, but this group had a legitimate case for 5 rappers who are also 5 incredible singers. Highly recommend going through their XXL album, one of my favs of the year
The choreo to macaroni and cheese is really good, and even how bizarre the song is, it might be my favorite low key
Scars and ROTY are great songs to follow these two but all of their songs are fire. Also Macaroni Cheese is just so different that it's gold!
Definitely underrated and under appreciated for what they are putting out. Songs and choreo are top tier but looked over cause they come from a smaller company. Scars, OTB full version and MV, Posse Up (not the remix), Macaroni Cheese are all 🔥

The line about "Stop calling me a T", I'm pretty sure it's a reference to the Meyers-Briggs personality test. Everybody in Kpop seems to be very into it these days, and I've heard multiple groups tease members by calling them a "T".
The next line also begins with an (F), which is the opposite of "T" in the test.
possible ... Sunhye _is_ an INTP though (which if you know about these personality types actually explains a lot about her)
Don't worry Thina. EVERYONE has to rewatch XXL because it's super too much on first watch through, lol. The MV is crazy, but the song is super amazing too.
I'll offer my interpretations of places you got stuck. Part of the Yodaspeak is because of intense mixing of Korean and English, and the translation just doesn't flow well.
the meaning is kind of like "finally the quarantine is over; during that time, i was wearing a mask like a gangster, but inside the mask was a barbie"
wearing a cap, but "no cap" is the English slang of "not lying"
"somnosis" looks like a medical term for sleeping too much, tying into her yawning because people talking crap are boring her: "fools hiss and diss, but my somnosis go (yawn)"
physical 100 is a south korean survival show (where you have to be super in shape); they're talking about the diet before the promotion, but after they filmed everything they had to, they'll feast.
the main vocal jiana's self-written verse about only having learned rap for two months - and then spitting it like a pro - is my absolute favourite.
Jiana's my bias, followed by Yeonjung.
in that final scene they are certainly talking about how people prefer groups of pretty girls even if their talent is mediocre while groups with real talent are always underrated, also I heard that years ago there was a magazine specialized in hip hop and rap where It published the best of the best and this magazine used to be called "XXL"

They just performed in Head In The Clouds festival and are finally being recognized more, as a rookie group. Their YT/TikTok shorts are mad funny. The XXL album design is a parody of the actual XXL hip hop magazine.
The lyrics of Young posse up were written by the members. It's been two months since I learned rap, and the lyrics about 'I'm like dust' are impressive. The song is good and the music video is very fun.
Learning how true that is about Jiana is even more impressive with how amazing her flow is - Sunhye and Doeun are next level great, but she’s no slouch.

i'm not too familiar with H.O.T but Young Posse did upload a retro tv style clip of XXL with KPS 19940421 in the title which has since disappeared - in it the costumes and the choreo was very much emulating Seo Taiji's 'Come Back Home' TV performance - not sure why it disappeared, it was very cool
so re yoda talking.....how yoda spoke (putting the verb at the end) was structured and based off how japanese (and korean) is structured. We put the verb at the end instead of 2nd in a sentence so it's just......talking to us lol

Definite styling difference with the CGI group at end of XXL, but I just took it as a reality check that YP is new and unknown since the song is about their big dreams.

To me they are the anti-XG. No disrespect, XG is killing it and the girls know hip hop, but they have bucket loads of Avex money at their disposal. Young Posse seems more organically hip-hop to me.
