Let me just clarify I’m not a fan of new age rap in any way (grew up on mid to late 90’s) but if you think this is one of the greatest lyrical songs ever made you sir are still free basing on that good crack from the 80’s 😂 you clearly are stuck in a nostalgic bubble in rap and don’t know hip hop in general

Dude was bragging about buying a new car every other month while standing in a junkyard. There was no need to rent a Lamborghini for a video shoot back then. No need to fake floss in the 80’s-90’s. A lot of people neglect the fact that this was before rap/Hip-Hop blew up. These MC’s were always bragging because this a competitive activity. It’s in his lyrics. Once rap went commercial, materialism dominated and there was no need in showing lyrical skill. That’s why today’s rappers don’t need skill. That’s why they don’t have the same subject matter. One thing I love about old school hip hop/rap (pre-95) is that they took place at a school setting, mainly high school and college. The videos made you want to stay in school and get an education
When I first saw this decades ago I thought it was John Adams HS in Ozone Park, but that's because I went to that school. But now that I am fifty and wiser, I think it may be a HS in Brooklyn and not Queens. Any body know?
I thought Ed was in his twenties when this dropped. Never knew he was only 16 because he spoke articulately and had a grownup swag. Teen rappers today speak like they can barely put a sentence together.
me to. i thought he was 19 or 20. He did speak very proper. this back when rappers talked completely and with a full grown sentence in interviews. Today's rappers interviews they don't even be knowing half the words.
My nephew is born in 08 and it always surprises me as a 43 year old man that this is his absolute favorite song. He always tell me Uncle Aaron throw on Special Ed I got it made.
That's why ppl fell in ❤️ with hip hop... Then the music changed, sex, drugs & violence became glorified. That was the end of what hip hop was originally meant to be 😭. To teach to each is what rap intended but society wants to invade, so do not walk this path that they laid it's #SelfDestruction #BoogieDownProductions

So true. I always told my kids SCHOOL was our meet up spot. Everybody knew everybody's period/class. Lol.
Man, those were the days..
I thought Ed was in his twenties when this dropped. Never knew he was only 16 because he spoke articulately and had a grownup swag. Teen rappers today speak like they can barely put a sentence together.
U right about that so sad uuugghhh they barely can read sad future glad i grew up n the era i did
me to. i thought he was 19 or 20. He did speak very proper. this back when rappers talked completely and with a full grown sentence in interviews. Today's rappers interviews they don't even be knowing half the words.
Nook Guy lol, so true.
Dopekid99 yeah i know.
Dopekid99 i didnt expect he was 16 though.
No rapper in history bragged more about what they got than Special Ed in one song and it's 2023 😂 GOAT!

Reminds me of my Era. I was about in junior high then. 7th grade
I can't believe how smooth rap used to be before the change! Love this!

Some kids across town thought I was afraid,
They couldn't harm me I got the Army Brigade,
I'm not a traitor if what you got is greater I'll trade,
But maybe later because my waiter made me potato Alligator Soufflé"

The good old days growing up in Brooklyn New York. I used to see special ed at the bus stop. He always had headphones in his ears back then everybody was using walkmans. We went to the same high school Erasmus Hall on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn. He is definitely underrated.❤🙏😊
When hiphop was real. Miss the good days . Thank God for this golden era🙏🏽. I feel sorry for the youth nowadays.
