Thank you so much. This is an amazingly helpful strategy. I'm trying to improve my mathematics to improve myself. Word problems have always intimidated me without some kind of step-by-step template to follow. I feel better now thanks to your video.
I was forced to watch this TmT but the way you explained it all was amazing! I love how you broke down the parts of it. And your sense of humor on this whole thing too, thanks for helping :D
I came here to research about my presentation about solving the word problem (in hyperbolic groups) and even though it was not what I was expecting I really enjoyed the great video haha thank you!
Thank you very much, I have a very important question, please, when I put a picture in the word file, after several days or many weeks the pictures disappear , but words and tables are normal. What do I do because necessary for the master's thesis?
I'm trying to figure out: If I have a box with 50 slots in it, each slot holds 70 of only one item, and each time I put items in the box it's always 6 apples and 5 oranges every time. How many apples and how many oranges will fit in the box?
Thank you so much for explaining it! Grade 5 Math can be hard but anyways thank you so much rhis helped me alot especially during corona virus pandemic 🥰 stay safe! Kuya Eric! (Kuya means older sibling or older person in filipino showing respect)
Great video, using it in our elementary school math club today. One nit pick, units are important (and are actually emphasized in current curriculum). Leaving off the units is an incorrect answer for my students. So in the first problem hamburgers shouldn't be crossed out as it is important info.
Thank you for uploading but I got confused on the second question and went ahead answered it before you gave the answer. My answer was 35 the reason why I got 35 is because week consist of 7 days then I multiply 3x5 which gave me the answer of 35.
That is the part of the question I tried to explain in the video. Because it is weekdays, not weekends, the week is 5 days. I saw a test question like this on a released standardized test question and I wanted to address it here so people could be prepared.
I would have went with 12 because half of 24 is 12 but you got 6 because you did it twice. I would need more explanation on when to divide twice by half with those kind of word problems.
Ok. I like but you are assuming something not in the math word problem. 5 hours per day x how many days per week? What if this were a trick question- military is 5 per week. I get it though. Thank you for the free lesson. 🥰🙏
I don't under stand in question 2 where "I spend 5hours in class each day" how you got 5x5=25. If it's each day in a week, should it not be 5x7=35 hours instead of $25 ?
I copied that question from a state test because it was something that threw off a bunch of my students and I wanted an example posted that showed what the state test was expecting.
Thank you so much. This is an amazingly helpful strategy. I'm trying to improve my mathematics to improve myself. Word problems have always intimidated me without some kind of step-by-step template to follow. I feel better now thanks to your video.

1,884 Apples (27 slots)
1,570 Oranges (23 slots)
May not be exactly correct but it's close I think. lol

I would have went with 12 because half of 24 is 12 but you got 6 because you did it twice. I would need more explanation on when to divide twice by half with those kind of word problems.
Yes, but no. You have 24 hamburgers, and YOU and your dog ate half. It makes sense by using dividing by 2 twice. I didn’t explain it well but whatever
thank you ur helping me with my exams

Please do more math word problems!

@@EricBuffington YESSSSS! Wahoo!
... I'm watching the video right now
I messed it up thinking there were 7 days in a week, and because class is defined as every day.
Yup that is a common thing to do. Keep up the good work! :)
Yes
As in India we have 7 days in week where as in america 5 days in a week
In where I am there are 7 days
You cannot assume that classes are 5 days. Many classes are on the weekends so it must be clarified as to how many days in the week are classes held.
Why did u times by 5 if it said each WEEK
I explained in the video it is a work week.
Thank you! your video will help me with the biggest exam! Thank you so much I don’t know how much that I can thank. You.
You're very welcome! Best of luck!

I don't under stand in question 2 where "I spend 5hours in class each day" how you got 5x5=25.
If it's each day in a week, should it not be 5x7=35 hours instead of $25 ?
25 hours not $25. Typo error
The reason for the number five is because we only go to school 5 days a week.
Eric Buffington we?
Jody Sett u Go to school for 5days of the week DUH
Jody Sett exactly what i thought
Your funny and helpful at the same time
Thanks!
lol never knew we spent 25 hours in school only in 5 days
Thank you so so much for this! :)

I have several videos about different kinds of word problems you can search on my channel.

No problem 😊
this works in calculus too, related rates
For sure!
Please explain to me how the word half equals to 2 I need to know this thank you 🙏🏽
can u do an addition and subtraction vid? because for our test its only addition and subtraction

@@EricBuffington thx it help alot!
The second problem has issue it asks how much time per week not how much time in 5 days,
I copied that question from a state test because it was something that threw off a bunch of my students and I wanted an example posted that showed what the state test was expecting.
Help me figure this.
If I have been married 31 years, and have gained 35 lbs., how many lbs have I gained in months? Thank you❤️
Ha ha ha! Great question! And also sounds about like my life, only I'm 10 years behind you but already with you on the weight! lol
About to take my army asvab so this should help lol

At first I was confused from why you used five instead of seven. Did I realize you go to school 5 days a week lol. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's a common trick question so I put it in there.
Thanks alot
