I'm currently looking for traditional artists to produce illustrations to be integrated into future videos in this series to bring to life key moments within the story. If you're an artist with experience drawing landscapes and historical/fantasy characters and were inspired by this video then get in touch via my website: mossybottom.ie. I'd love to hear from you!
My goodness, you are such a storyteller. I know you are single, but after some of these heartfelt, intimate and evocative videos there are surely women who have fallen for you very hard. Thank you so much for sharing your gift and for being so unafraid to put your introverted self out there. As a fellow introvert - it's admirable and courageous. I hope you see this comment!
What a lovely story!! My ancestors are Irish and love seeing the country side and listening to the stories through you're eyes. Greetings from a sunny South Africa
This tale certainly reflects the wild climate , the harsh terrain, the struggle the Irish people have to bear with that. Their Fairy tales and quite macho superstitions, the pain, the fear, the guilty feelings. Also their relentless bravery to survive and their generosity. It is nice you have gone to same place to tell the folklore tale although it is now a barren land instead of a woodland. It is quite difficult to try to translate your thoughts into a different language of yours but I think I am understood. The tale has touched me. Thanks for sharing your performance on the spot that makes the tale more true.
I love the way you tell these stories. Seeing the places you're talking about and hearing the sounds of nature there as you're talking just compliments the stories so well. Thank you for sharing these stories with us. You're really great at engaging your audience
Another excellent video , you have a great natural manner for storytelling . I know how the children must felt when they listened to Hans Christian Andersen . Keep them coming 👍👍👍
I think you heard this story first in the local pub ! Such an old fashioned country folk tale - reminds me of days in my great grandmother's kitchen with hot scones & butter, a fire going in the old black stove, and plenty of kids arguing about nothing ! And I'm 82 now & that memory was in London, but the old life was so similar everywhere in those days !
Utterly spell binding. Even though this was sad I feel enlivened from your depth of feeling while telling the story. I feel that you have a bit of magic about you, with your ability to grip us so profoundly.
Love Mossy Bottom and his story telling wonderful would just love to be in Ireland right now.Away from It all will watch on later.Just relaxing 😌 wonderful Ireland peace ☮️
Daniel, I love your storytelling. In fact, I love your channel & recommend it to others often. Even increased my patron amount after watching this which I should have done long ago. Please keep up the great work. We adore your channel & you 🌀🦋💙
Maith an fear arÍs Daniel. You're turning into a true seanchaÍ! Much as I wish you success I hope you never change as you are such an inspiration on so many levels to so many people. Go n-eirí an bothar leat go deo.
Er, a true story? There was a magic fairy, the ghost of his dead wife and a baby which materialised out of thin air..!! So I strongly suspect the 'Truth-o-meter' would say no way....!!!
Brilliant as ever Daniel and a brilliant story teller, I'm sure Ireland's RTE national broadcaster has its own program equivalent to the UK BBC's jackanory. Thank you for sharing this beautiful part of southern Ireland, county Kerry, the cliffs of Dooneen and the mighty salmon River Shannon. The Mississippi and Missouri rivers of Ireland. Have a listen to the song by the late Liam Clancy of the Clancy brothers and Thomas Makem era, a song called Shenandoah you'll find it on UA-cam Daniel. Enjoy!!!
Whew, I struggled with this one. Came to UA-cam for solace from the exhaustion of having an incredibly poorly 1 year old and yet here we are. Yet, I could turn away and have thoroughly enjoyed the story. Thank you
Hi Daniel, so love seeing the places you visit, my ancestors are Irish, think that's why I love rocks so much, wishes for health and safety for you, from Tennessee.
Greetings from Limerick - my grandfather had a farm on this island, he lived in the single story building with the outhouses that you can see in the video. I am glad you enjoyed your stay!
So lovely, Daniel. Your storytelling keeps getting better and better. I grew up reading folktales from other countries, and appreciate that many do not have typical happy endings. What a fascinating place...there is nothing like standing at 'Land's End', facing the great, wide ocean (even if for me it's the Pacific). I have studied the Napoleonic Wars, and an invasion of Ireland was a consideration. Thank you for bringing us along on your travels. Cheers from California.
Ohhh my what a fascinating story very sad though I’m going to rewatch the video. You have unbelievable talent. I’ve never heard of that island in Kerry. Thank you so much for all your amazing work. I look forward to seeing you
