@@kreuner11I used the latest version of KDE recently, and it still feels like something from the 2010s. It doesn't incorporate modern UI/UX patterns and feels outdated. KDE is an example of software designed by programmers who lack expertise in design. @OkaHajime so KDE is bad when judged under GNOME standards, because it has fundamentally different design goals than GNOME? I understand now. I'm not sure which "modern UI/UX" patterns you are referring to are not implemented, though.
Opening and placing 18 apps for 4 minutes. Comparing to compositors like hyperland/sway it is sloooow... And it is with tiling extention too, not even out of the box feature. So it's even worse just right after install
@MinaSchloch most KDE apps that you may want to resize like Okular, resize perfectly fine. They are actually doing much better because you can customize their toolbars, and set up which buttons you want visible on whatever size you're using. The main problem is, KDE probably doesn't even have 18 of their "own" apps in total, let alone having 18 apps where the tiny size makes sense. And it's good, no reason to spend time duplicating already existing apps just so that there could be a K in the title
a bit of struggle to make them fit huh, it's a shame statistically most people still use 1080p and not 2k. Still i prefer hyprland when it comes to tiling windows. Loved your video btw
Yeah, I'm not sure you understand what people mean by gnome apps has too much blank space. What we mean is there is too much padding removing space that can be used by content. For an example: Ghostty with the gtk/adwaita title bar, and some tabs opened, uses 86 pixels. Whereas KDE Konsole, with just the title bar and tabs (same as Ghostty), uses 26 pixels. Therefore I gain 60 pixels for content using KDE Konsole over a gnome app.
I think I should give GNOME another try. Not like i3wm is bad or something, but I'm feeling more curious about GNOME after your videos invade my YT home page.
I switched from swaywm to gnome. Gnome with extensions can do anything that the tilling window manager does. It's keyboard centric if you want this. Work fast on any modern PC.
I hate extensions, they are often hacky. The fact that when you resize a tile it doesn't resize the window in it is silly for example. The point of using gnome is the stability and the well thinking behind features, but using extensions is ruining the experience imo. Stop saying that there are good extensions for tiling, I've never seen one not hacky and without strange behaviour
@@EnraifulWell when I use kde vanilla I don't have problems tbh. It's maybe less stable than gnome, but at least we have much more functionalities. And it's still more stable than gnome with extensions anyway, and that tiling is in kde vanilla if I don't say shit
But of course if you use extensions with kde you will have the same issues than with gnome, because extensions are often evil. I do prefer make my own program instead of relying on extension. The big issue with gnome is that if you want to own your computer by customizing it, you have to use extensions, because of the lack of options, which is not the case of kde. But there are people who don't care about customisation, so gnome is perfect for them

It has been a while since we had this type of music in BabyWogue Gnome videos 😍
yes kde can do that, without using a tiling extension even
Yes but the implementation is crap compared to this, like most things in KDE.

KDE can do a lot, but the problem is that the usability and UX is horrible. That's why I love Gnome, they actually care about those things.
what are you on?😆 KDE usability is as easy as it gets and the UX can be customized to your liking

Try window mosaic tiling (the tiling improvements branch, on IlChitarrista's GNOME gitlab repo)
did that already unfortunately doesnt work properly (i use Gnome 48 alpha)

Well, KDE apps actually have features so you dont need 18 appd ;)
